I think they will get a lot of quality applicants by opening this up. Seems like there is a lot of potential there.

Not surprised Crosby would up the money to keep him. Am a little surprised he was looking to leave in the 1st place.

This has come up in a lot of threads for jobs that are open. Someone will mention all the candidates that have head coaching experience. It happens year after year, a school will hire someone with a losing head coaching record for the sake of hiring someone with experience vs taking a chance on a coordinator. 

Most of us will never have the chance to hire a head coach, but what would your take on it be. Hire someone with head coaching experience  (even if it's a bad record) or take a gamble on a coordinator?

Wow. So which football coach will lead the new school. (Same for basketball, etc) Crazy stuff.

Yes, he'll just have to deal with what he'd given. Not much difference than when someone is hired in March or later 

Hopefully he wouldn't do it, but he could put them in a bad place with non district scheduling.

No, because if it hadn't of worked out at Newton he most likely would be staying at Kirbyville. So what if he had resigned in December, a job didn't come open in Newton and now he has no job...

You don't reisgn a coaching job (or even tell anyone you are thinking about it) until the one you are going to can at least give you an intent to hire letter. If he knew in December that there might be a job open in Newton for next year, there most likely was not an actual position open yet. Just speculation or knowledge that a coach wasn't returning, retiring, getting let go, etc. 

As someone else said, if there had been an actual position, he would have resigned so he could be there for the spring semester for off season, etc. 

If I were him I'd be trying to get the Marshall or Chapel Hill job. Now.
