    The easy pick is BC over OF, now the next two are a little tougher but I believe Silsbee has the momentum over HJ. LCM & WOS is the toughest pic. A lot of good players from both teams, so I would have to go with the Bears only because of the experience factor of the coach, talent pretty evenly matched IMO

    Every teams success is determined by how they play as a whole. As long as they keep that in mind they will continue to get even better. Individual stars fall all the time.

    So you can post as long as it isn't anti WOS and you are okay with what everyone says. Maybe they should send their posts to you by messenger and you can okay them before they post.

    Chill Sally and TD, Chuk is not a vindictive type of person. That's his opinion as is your remarks is your opinion. He has had Mustangs back on this board more times than I can count. He at least puts his name out there and is not afraid to agree or disagree with what he thinks is right. I don't think he personally attacked anyone as you did him. Put your name out there if your gonna attack.

    A coach will go as far as his talent takes him as long as he has the team behind him. A coach affects lives both positively and negatively so there will always be two sides. Bottom line ask the kids who played for Ronnie Anderson or even Chuk's hall of fame father what they meant to them. The best judge of a coach is the players who play for them. If the coach has the kids respect he is a good coach whether he wins games or not. There are certain coaches my kids would run through a brick wall for and others they might not even open the door for.  It is not my place to judge our coach even if I disagree with him, only for me to support the team, which I will under any circumstances even after my kids are out the door (as will they).

    If we win district or have a good run in the playoffs then Chuk is wrong, if they continue to play like they did last night then maybe he is right. Time will tell. Both of you are entitled to your opinion but it shouldn't be personal on this board.

    oh really! Wow vindictive! Sounds more like the truth. Nothing about my post said anything about the freakin coach. I said the players need to be reevaluated. Go find someone else to find blame! Or was it the fact that I said "it didn't surprise me that they lost.

    One plus that WOS has going into district play is seeing a top arm in Moore. WOS didn't show LCM any of their top 3 guys. Could play a factor in a match up down the road. I like the way LCM swings the bat, bunch of feisty guys up there.

    I know this is a good WOS team this year...so how do you guys see this go, understand its a scrimmage and all, but lets just ball park it. i think pitching wise Kountze will hold their own..."Note to Kountze Pitchers" (keep the ball down on the one called "MOOSE"!  Kountze will have ramp up the ole' bat speed on them Anderson boys! In addition I hope we improve on defense.

    Well Moose powdered one! Nice hit Kid! Great to see those Anderson boys and that speedster Mo! WOS is gonna be fine this year. Score was 3-1 WOS...Kountze had one inning where we gave up a couple of runs on free passes scored on errors. Over all pitching again looked good and the bats were better. Proud of Our catcher Cooper Coe who gutted it out behind the plate with a bum finger on his glove hand. Keep up the hard work Lions and best of Luck to WOS

    Congratulations to this hard working young lady and to her family. I was really hoping she would choose to play for TLU next Fall. Galveston College really got a good one! I hope to see her transfer and pitch for TLU in the future.      Huffman Hargrave Ace Signs With Galveston College   Holly Soniat signed her National Letter of Intent to join the pitching rotation for the NJCAA nationally ranked Whitecaps next season.  Galveston College Head Coach Ken DelCambre says “Holly is an athletic pitcher with excellent velocity, ball movement, and control. She is a very nice addition to our softball program.” The tall lefty, has been a standout four year varsity pitcher for the UIL State playoff powerhouse Lady Falcons. In addition to being a First team All District selection, she has not committed a defensive error during her high school career, she earned an undefeated pitching record during her Junior season, and helped lead the high flying Lady Falcons to the UIL State semi-finals in Austin last season. Soniat, is also a pitcher in the nationally regarded Tx. Bombers Gold Softball Organization, where she proudly participates in the 4theFallen program, honoring and remembering our nation’s fallen soldiers and their families. Holly selected Galveston College over other collegiate softball opportunities, because of the school’s world class Nuclear Radiology program and it’s close proximity to the beach. Soniat states “While I am really enjoying my senior year at Hargrave, I am looking forward to the challenge of going off to college and making my mark on the world.”

    I wish I could take credit for this prose.  But it is republished from a long time, hard core Mustang fan who now resides it Central Texas.  Pure gold my friend!

    "Mustang Christmas 2014 Chapter
    ‘Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the Fruit,
    I saw Isaac Dunnie Hunter dressed in his Santa suit;
    The jerseys were hung by the lockers with care,
    To the smiles of Coach T, and his graying hair;
    The fans were nestled all up at the malls,
    With visions of Kevin Pup Smith, intercepting those balls;
    And Coach Dyer with a whistle, and Coach Pierce with a cap,
    Had just settled the defense to watch out for those traps;
    When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
    It looked like Earl, in a skirmish of a Mustang matter;
    Away to Hub, the ‘boys flew like a flash,
    Jogged across the Blue Line, preparing for the Jerryworld clash;
    The scoreboard all painted with the name of Dan Hooks,
    Gave a lustre of yester-year and the history books;
    When what to my Austin eyes did appear,
    But a miniature sleigh and Tezeno antler rein-deer;
    With ‘ole 11 as the driver, and Franks family quick,
    I knew in a moment, we'd see a Russell Turkel kick;
    So remembering like Ernest his followers they came,
    And Eddie whistled, the blood-lines of the Orebo name;
    "Now, Will! now, Deionte! now Spencer and Jackson!
    On, McCarty! on, Hebert! And the defense a Blitzen!
    To the top of the bracket to the top of the stands
    Now dash away! dash away! To Dallas Mustang Fans!"

    I recently took my son and another young man to a jr. college to try out for the baseball team. As I watched all the parents bring their sons to try out I noticed Coach Nelson from Silsbee had taken his own time to bring 3 or 4 guys to try out also. He was a pleasure to talk to and he has a burning desire to see all of his kids make it to the next level. I guess that burning desire is contagious because Silsbee definitely has a great baseball program. It was nice to see a Coach take time out during the summer to help those seniors and underclassmen get the opportunity to make their dreams come true. I wish more Coaches would do the same!

    Absolutely agree! No dog in the hunt here either. I feel sorry for the players who legitimately deserve the All-District awards, but the honor of being put on these teams was watered down by some of these picks.   These selections bring into question; Is it about your Fielding%, BA, OPS, ...etc. or something else?   It was the same way with the football All-District selections.

    Now I have a question and I'm just trying to figure out the selection process....Why do you have 3 1st Team pitchers and only 2 2nd Team?  Also why 5 1st Team OF and only 3 2nd Team OF?  This is a legitimate question, not trying to be a smart a**.  Does it go by BA then Fielding% for Positional Players, maybe with slugging%, OPS and OB% in the mix to break any ties?  Just curious.

    Also congrats to the teams from 21-3A who made the playoffs and to Silsbee who went up against a really tough College Station team!  Also, it was refreshing to see HF's Coach Morris bring some passion back to that program.

    No doubt BC and Silsbee should dominate the list but I question the legitimacy of other picks. This response has no bearing on my own kids that play. This should be based on performance and nothing else! When a coach starts factoring in other components other than a kids potential, he is doing a disservice and injustice to the kids who truly deserve the recognition.  JMO but this list each year looses its credibility.

    I am happy for all the kids that got recognized.  I do think with the amount of kids getting honors,  it does water down the intention of the awards from days gone by and that was for all the coaches to pool their opinions and come up with the "Most Outstanding" of players in their respective positions.  The coaches can never make everyone happy whether there are 25 awards or 65.  Whatever the number, I do believe most if not all the coaches try to be fair and unbiased based on the data and stats they have available.  BTW, my kid wasn't one of them, and I feel bad for him.  My job as a parent though is to pick him up and help him be realistic about what he needs to do to achieve those honors in the future if they are important to him, not bash the system, or other players that made it ahead of him.  On a positive note, our district/area has and still is providing a whole lot of qualified baseball players to the next level from DIII's to MLB, for which we should all be very proud of.  For example, almost any team you see playing in CWS baseball tournament or  softball for that matter, has kids from our general geographical area.
