I'll be at Region 5 office (it's across the street from our building) for realignment reaction from coaches and updates for anyone else who is interested.

My understanding is that is the case.
Newton coaches had the option to pick two on each side of the ball but went with just one. Didn't want to split the vote.

No Tamauzia Brown on the defensive side? Didn't he lead the state in interceptions or something?
Can't vote him as a finalist if he's not on the initial ballot lol

PNG is loaded again this year.
Indeed. The two southpaws will be hard to score on.

It's funny to me to see 3 Panthers but no Jaguars when the final scores and play on the field weren't even close in the Varsity and JV games between the 2 schools. But hey they'll all be one team next year...
Central had one sophomore on varsity this past season. If the schools weren't merging, I'm sure there'd be 6 or 7 on my list by this time next year. Ozen, on the other hand, was consistently playing sophomores on varsity for a number of reasons.

Where are all the kids who don't make the team gonna play?
I'm assuming they're not gonna have a 30 man roster.
JV? Or Kelly, Legacy and other schools, I'd think.

Lol. Well, he's just a sophomore... Not much chance of him playing... Smh. Great work though (sarcastic of course).
Lmao man you make me laugh. Martin's going to be a good one, regardless.

Actually Martin did play football previously... Smh
Not at the high school level.

One I forgot to mention - running back Chris Martin from Silsbee. Will be a junior next year and had a fantastic sophomore season. He's big, quick and has good vision. Last year was his first year playing football, too, so his upside is pretty high IMO.

Pretty good crowd in hand. I'll tell you one thing. Central has son really good shooters as starters and coming off the bench, but the most sound player, well at least in this game was the Seniguar kid. Seemed to grab rebounds well, facilitate the fast breaks, got several assists, and had what appears a nice midrange game.
Ozen, fought pretty well. They just didn't have anyone except maybe 1 or 2 players that could create their own shot and lacked size. Still played good defense and will not lose to anyone else except Memorial and Central. If they get some pieces back from those injured players, they'll be a threat to win a couple of playoff games...
You were there? Should have said hi

Newton has indicated on their social media that they will be playing their game against Pollok Central tonight.
Groveton at Big Sandy will also be played tonight.
No Newton vs. Pollok Central tonight because of a broken water line at Newton. Games will be tomorrow at 5 and 6:30

Yes to Silsbee and Jasper. The new Beaumont school was a week 2 possibility but likely won't happen. Will need to add 2 to 3 games depending on how tomorrow goes.
