LOL. I got to admit I really like us being on the other side of the "Oh well, we might as well not show up" statement. Looking forward to a good game. Probably will listen or watch from home. Trips are going to be few and far between for me unless I happen to wake up with a ton of energy. Go Raiders.
That statement was to mess with 89falcon lol......we knew what we were getting into when we saw it scheduled and are ok with it....win, lose, or draw.
We graduated 29, got a new staff, and have implemented a new system. Went from one extreme to the other. Couple that with our enrollment of 484 to yalls 1244......and well....scheduling yall seems crazy. After realignment yall needed a game, we needed a game. And from my understanding Keeling and Reyes are buds in the coaching world. Yall haven't played a smashmouth run team and we want to keep getting better before district so It works out. I don't see where either of us could do wrong from this matchup. Good luck to yall.....hope we see a classic that's injury free.

Is "Tatum_dirtybird" from Tatum? He specifically said: "Tatum by 7". FYI, if you "pick your team to win", that is "picking your team to win". Amazing fan base says something, and then says they didnt say what they said, even though it is written in black and white for everyone to read.
It would make sense for you to pump the breaks on this one. You have and the rest have been wrong about many things lately and as we learn more about this matchup, we can see that no one in their right mind would pick Tatum to win. Lumberton appears to be a legit force in 4AD1. However, given the recent performance of Newton, we can all give pause to jumping to conclusions based on size differential alone.
If you don't think size matters, you're crazy. Newton swung well above their weight class and won. Impressive feat not many can pull off. We are all aware Lumberton should have the upper hand. I suppose we'll go ahead and make the trip to Lufkin and line up and play them anyways if that's OK with you.

LOL, go to Smoaky and look at the poll!!!! More people have picked Tatum than Lumberton!!!! Good grief!
You want us to publicly pick against our staff and boys? Umm, not gonna happen. Go find in writing where any of us have said anything other that we are up against it and hope we do well. And anyone not from Tatum that picked us ain't got nothing to do with us. Everybody understood the assignment but you I suppose. We know we are the underdog champ. Run and tell everybody that, song bird.

Interesting. I would not be surprised if this turned into a barnburner, but I do see Lumberton throwing all over Tatum. I have not seen Tatum play this year
Run heavy. We run the triple option. Averaging 43.8 PPG, 450 rushing yards a game. Young in the secondary on defense. If we were to pull off an upset, it would most definitely be in a shootout.

Lumberton by 3 TDs
Very well could be possible. Solid squad. I'm sure we'll try to shorten the game by draining the clock. We've had a lot of success running the ball. Hopefully we can continue to do so this week.

Tatum folks believe they are going to win this game. Tatum has a RG/DL that is committed to Arizona State that will be a load. Dont know much about Lumberton but I expect Lumberton to outman them overall.
Boy, aint nobody said one thing about beating Lumberton. We know we're tying up with a worthy opponent and we are the underdogs. Surprise, we on SETX board as well.

So far Tatum is 4-1 with their only loss coming to Henderson 45-13. Defense has been pretty solid outside of the Henderson game. Offense started off slow till tonight against Pittsburg.
Tatum 24 Arp 14
Henderson 45 Tatum 13
Tatum 20 Chapel Hill 7
Tatum 28 Wills Point 9
Tatum 49 Pittsburg 21

Gilmer couldn't stop the run, LE couldn't stop the pass. Official stats from Gilmer QB "Poppy" Brown in his varsity debut. 35 out of 45 for 569 yards and 6 TDs, also rushed for another. Set single game passing yards school record previously held by G.J. Kinne. Poppy spread it around too, had 11 different players catch a pass.
Basic summary.....Poppy is gonna make many many many secondaries look stupid this year, and he's gonna have to. Gilmer's defense is under-sized and just flat out can't stop the run, may not be able to stop a decent passing attack either. LE's QB play was horrible so even though they had 3 INTs, it really aint saying too terribly much. I'm sure it'll get better as they progress but that passing game ought to buy them plenty of time to get it figured out. Gilmer was raining passes, though LE's secondary covered their assignments about as well as toddler's rain jacket on Shaq in a monsoon.

Also Gilmer over Liberty Eylau 61-55, Gilmer sophomore QB threw for 576 yards and 6 TDs while running in another 1. Guy from Gilmer says that breaks single game passing record for Gilmer.

Scrimmage is what it is practice we shall see Friday night.
Agreed, just a glorified practice, but I'd expect a competitive team to make some kinda showing in it. We'll know when all the dust clears late friday night, thats for sure. Good luck to you guys.

I'ma use stupid terms here to come up with my prediction. But only because there was pure domination in all of these scrimmages. Yes, i said scrimmages, lol. I'm using scrimmages as a meter stick lol.
Newton 6 Jasper 0
Center 5 Kirbyville 0
Tatum 5 Center 0
So Newton dominated a team 3 times their size. Center dominated Kirbyville letting them only have one first down. Then we, Tatum, scrimmaged Center which i saw first hand. We allowed them only 3 first downs the whole scrimmage and did anything and every thing we wanted on offense. They just weren't impressive to me, we got a new coach that has our boys fired up and hitting on all cylinders but Center just didn't look like Center of the past 2 years. I hope it was us making them look like that to be honest but in any account. Giving all of this, my prediction from scrimmages is, lol
Newton 42
Kirbyville 7
-
I picked Center over Rusk but to be honest, I'm on the fence about them. Scrimmage #1 Center held Kirbyville to 1 first down for the day and ran ramped scoring at will on them, like 5 TDs. Then the next week against us the complete opposite. We outscored Center 5-0 holding them to one first down with the 1st strings and just 2 first downs with the 2nd strings. I know they are just scrimmages but this has me baffled on what kinda team they'll have.

Was only talking about "so far" this season. As in we are the first team on the sked to help yall prepare for any smashmouths after. Our QB Watson is quite the option QB. Makes great reads. Should give yalls front 7 a good work out, we hope.
