Yes I'll agree that anybody that has some skill can more than likely get some college ball experience of some kind.  If they're willing to go far and wide..and most likely pay for their schooling.  But I'll bet your ex teammate didn't get recruited to go to that dump school in South Dakota.  I though the purpose of this conversation was to figure out why the Bullock kid wasn't being recruited.

And I figured you'd sniff out an opportunity to prove me wrong.  Curiosity tho...didn't those kids play college football?  For some reason I was thinking those Cayuga kids were football players.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong man. I'm just saying. And yes, I agree with you. Although a fine player, don't think he is a D1 recruit.

No doubt in my mind they're the favorite.  As they should be.  But remember...they lost the title game last yr to a team that most likely has zero college basketball players.  See what I'm getting at?

And...um...false.  "wants to play bad enough" unfortunately will not get you on a college roster.  As an ex college player of 4 years, I'm pretty proud of the fact that I accomplished something that can not be accomplished by simply "wanting it bad enough".  Lot of things in play here.

We can disagree. I played with a kid who was TERRIBLE. He was not one of the top 5 players on our team. He is from this area, and played college ball for a small dump school in South Dakota. That's a fact. I played college ball (not basketball) after going unrecruited for the most part. I'm not saying ANYBODY can find a team, but ANYBODY that has some skill (which the BS boys we are talking about do) can find somewhere to play. That's a fact.

Notice what I said too...I said a lot of better teams than BS don't have 3 college basketball players.  I'm talking about any level as well.  Trust me...if I coached a 2A school that had 3 D2 players on it I better be winning state every year I got em.  Because that's a dynamite team.  You guys are throwing these terms around pretty loosely...D2, D3, JUCO...you better believe those kids can ball too.

Tell me the last time a small school had more than 1 player end up on a college roster.

BS is the clear cut favorite to win the 2A State Championship. There are sooo many colleges in the country. If a kid wants to play bad enough, he can find somewhere to play.

If mine was offered Kilgore, Blinn, or 21st Street College I would be just as proud. There are athletes of all school in the NFL, Cam Newton should I say more came from Blinn.

Well.... kinda. Cam was at/had to leave the Florida Gator program before he attended Blinn. But your point is on point. The NFL has players from plenty of junior colleges.

No there is no excuse for what happened and yes the mouthing back and forth played a part.  But that is one issue and even though it may have incited someone to the point of this attack, in no way does that warrant a physical attack.  That's why I placed a previous post about hoping something was learned from this.  I can say I have never had a big problem of some fun trash talk during a game but it tends to go overboard these days.

I agree. Physical violence is never the answer. However some people just don't get that. Silsbee players in no way deserved what happened. Jawing on the court is not a big issue. Once you take it outside of school and are dealing with people you do not know, you gotta be careful what you say. Some people dont have our moral code and self restraint. I'm guessing they feel like that did no wrong and they probably feel they were justified. All wrong feelings. I guess my point is be careful what you say to strangers, because you do not know what they are capable of. Winning a twitter beef isn't worth losing your season, or worse.

  9. There is no excuse for what happened. But to pretend that Silsbee player ZERO part in it, is a little naive. Whatever the "beef" was over, it takes two people to jibber jabber with each other. The "talking crap" on social media or whatever seems to be the reason the water boiled over. When you openly exchange in the threatening and talking crap to people, you open yourself up to the unknown. You don't know what the other person will actually do. Some people do not conduct themselves like "normal" people.(Jasper aggressor). But the whole thing probably could have been avoided by not exchanging in the "beef". Let your play speak on the field/ court. When it comes to social media, "DONT HIT SEND. (Herm Edwards voice).

I don't think he is even IN Beaumont anymore.

I guess that is a little of my point. I dont have the facts like you all do so my opinion is based on my previous assumption. If my assumption is accurate, shouldn't the law be involved. I dont think you can assault a female and just pack up and leave and avoid punishment. No charges or anything filed? He just gets a free pass to a school or basketball entity that takes him? Like I said I do not know the specifics like you all who confirm reports. Just dont seem logical that he can just leave and avoid the real issue, which sounds like a committed aggravated assault on a female.

  11. 1 minute ago, ST413 said:

In regards to that, I will never say it's certain until it happens.  I was told directly from the family earlier in the year that he was coming back as well so as you and I both see things can change either way.

You are correct. But in my opinion, and I told a member of his this, I do believe he will come back. No matter how many times he/she tries to deny it. HAHAHA

  12. In regards to the Bush return, I do not think it is a given. I hate to put words in peoples mouths or air their thoughts on social media, but I have heard straight from the player and the players family. The direct message I have gotten from them is their is no desire to come back to Silsbee. I was given many different reasons straight Bush and his family. Although I could see it play out and him be playing for the Tigers in the future, I sense a genuine dislike for whats going on over there, from their perspective. Ultimately, a chance to win a state title has to be enough to overlook a certain amount of that dislike and persuade a return.

  13. A fight with a female student that "didn't look good". Surely we can get an account of the incident. This sounds disgusting. Not eligible to play seems light for something like this. Not able to attend school/somewhere behind bars seems much more appropriate. Though, I am just assuming he beat up a girl. I would love to hear reliable or official accounts before I jump to conclusion.

  16. I'm assuming they are losing some starters to grades? That's pretty disappointing. For a team to have as much talent as they do, they sure get in their own way. Whether it's poor attitudes on the court or not handling their business in the classroom. For a team with state championship hopes, failing classes shows a lack of dedication to the team. It is hard to fail a class in highschool. I know most teachers gives students every opportunity to get their grade right with a little effort. Just very disappointing.
