  1. I believe it's totally justifiable for each of these student athletes to request and be granted that release, based on the entire situation. I have not looked into depth those who have requested release, but the majority of them are on the "offensive side" and the 3 that concern me have the potential to play in the league some day soon. So, this choice while it's certainly controversial to the public eye, is probably the most important decision of their young lives. The University took a nose dive for failure as soon as this was made known to the public and for me, just based on sheer athletics, I would want to steer as far away from the issues as possible, to focus my next 4 years on being developed by somebody who's going to get me to the next level without all the other elephants in the room that could potentially prevent me from reaching that goal. Just my opinion

To be honest, even comparing Clay to Joubert, at HJ, I believe Clay would still be the best choice...and I think Joubert is a good coach.  But put a Hall of Fame guy in the mix, like Boutte, just for comparison's sake...who do you think they would go with in that case?

Like I stated though. Clay was slated for that job. Only way he don't get it, is if he don't want it. That's just my opinion.

Wonder how many folks thought they overachieved last season……

that's why i'm going to check them out vs. Brock

I need to see what they got going on.....i'll have to revise my games schedule, LOL

It's not like we are joining a district with Carthage, Kilgore, Henderson, etc.. teams that have proven that they are an elite program. Yes, Navasota lost their Coach... SO did Silsbee.. Yes, Navasota lost their QB, their best receiver... We get that... With a program as talented as Navasota, why do you feel as it will be "a little bit tougher this time around as far as reloading"?

Again, Navasota, like WOS, has always and will always have talent. Check the history books. Your assessment is null and void.

Garrity was wrong once about HS football. I believe it was back in 1984

Correct. Most of the same coaching staff is still in place. Goodman has been there since the beginning.

I hear you. that's why I say it wont take long. I'm already keeping you 1st or 2nd in district seeding.

But I can't for the life of me grant you permission past the 1st round over my District 9. Esp not this year. They all reloaded (top 3)

You counting Navasota out? Them rattlers have a lot tradition. I'd give them a few rounds

after watching them in the playoffs the last couple years and losing the head hancho, I give them 2-3 years before the become a force again. loads of talent over there but I just think its going to take some time after losing the BIG 3.

Just a hunch here but I do think we are gonna learn how to spell spread this season.

Also, half of district 7 operates out of the spread.

    Yea you'll learn.

Oh don't get me wrong, Rusk will be a better team...a much better team because Jowell Hancock is their coach.  However, to predict Region II dominance is a stretch.

Not sure who predicted Rusk to be region II dominant but that's not very bright. Rusk will however put a bunch of points on the board. Jowell will get some off. insight from long time friend and co-worker Craus and will certainly have some success at Rusk.

Jerry believes he'll win some games this year and be a contender within 2-3 yrs.

It's a non Pineland Day year for West Sabine, so we have SEVEN away games (six in a row, so if you count the bye we won't play at home for nearly two months). We will be logging the miles in this district, as the away games are @Lovelady (10/7), @Centerville (10/14) and @Deweyville (10/28).

wow. that's good for season after next though. and you are right......Stark in my opinion is the best thing that has ever happened to Hardin athletics. Hope we can keep him for the duration of his career.
