says a lot about PNG qb to come out and throw a pick on his first pass, and then step up and have a game like he did. That kid is really good! Didn't really help us that their receivers were wide open all game though, but in the end he made a lot of good throws..
if if lumbertons would have capitalized on turnovers then we could have had a better chance. And of course we gotta learn how to catch too, a dropped td pass doesn't help either! Good game PNG!

Dropped passes and fumbles.. Our offense is making their defense look great, and their offense is making our defense look horrible. Pretty much the way I see it
-
it was 20-14 you can see the scoreboard in one of his pictures
I figured since we play home tonight that this game would have been at PNG, Wish I would have known and I would have went and watched!

I know I passed thru Vidor about 30 min ago, and Main Street is lined with 4 post canvas covers.
What time parade start? And if anyway possible avoid Vidor during parade time.
I'm glad you reminded us of this! I was planning on visiting my Vidor store today.... Not anymore! lol I forgot how packed the parade gets

According to Lumberton Ledger Facebook page (I wasn't at the game):
Freshmen Raiders 20... PNG 14
-
Seeing the way that Lumberton ran the ball against Ozen, and hearing of the awesome running game that Vidor has (I haven't seen them play this year), but knowing those two things, I would say Vidor wins this easily.
-
Yep that's the year we beat Dayton 8-7 and then lost to PNG! Tri-District Champions
That was probably the best game/ending I've ever seen.. I still get chills when I watch the highlight video that they gave us that year!

I guess I'll become your first enemy... But here it is... And I promise I will not make another post on this because I'm only going to throw out football knowledge after this.....
So here goes...... Raidergirl, nothing on you becasue your a legit fan that I Respect.....
But.........
if you are looking for a PARTICIPANT ribbon, you won't find many on this board.....
Lumberton gets some respect earned for playing mistake free ball and inspired.........
But to win, and win consistently. You have to change the culture.... Participant ribbons get you what you have......... At the end of the day, you LOST.. So if you want the moral victory, so be it...... But it's kinda like when your kid is in T Ball, and the losing coach is telling the kids... "We are all winners", guess what, they usually keep losing. But when the coach that wins all the time finally loses a game, he tells his kids, we lost and this is what you did wrong, and we are gonna get it right or else... Guess what, he's usually the guy that walks around the ballpark and all the moms hate him.. Because all he cares about is winning.. So they say... Well you know what..... I like to be the guy they hate...... So in the Nutshell.. WOS kicked our butts....... No participant ribbon for us... No moral victory.... Just another loss... So tell your boys to strap em on, get ready for next week, and knock some heads around.... Change the culture... Participant ribbons are overrated. amd playing clean, well that often leads to playing intimidated.... Central did nothing I seen that was dirty... That's called SWAG... You know, not in my house stuff.... And guess what... It worked........
that's a good point you made, and I agree 110% with what you are saying!
But I will add this, these past few years our players have lacked confidence. Yeah we may have went through some poor coaching, probably been a lot less talented compared to the district we play in, but in the end the main problem was our confidence. We knew in the back of our minds that we didn't stand a chance.
With that being said, I agree with you that in the end winning is all that matters. But at the same time and at this point in the rebuilding stage that we are in with Babin's mentality being taught, I believe that our players need that confidence boost knowing that we CAN actually contend in this district. We need to reevaluate ourselves and realize where we went wrong yesterday and what changes need to be made because after all a loss is a loss no matter what excuse or how hard we tried. But we also need that confidence going into each and every game.
we need to be happy with our performance and effort, but definetly not satisfied!
-
That's good improvement. As long as we can keep building upon that we will be fine.
Rome wasn't built in a day!
-
Is Sykes that TE that went down? He looked like he was the best WR.
yeah that's him. He's our go to guy in the pass game.
-
I'm really close to #54 and his family and I called his mom on the way home and he has an appointment Monday to see what is wrong with his shoulder =/ Makes me sad
any word on Sykes #82?... I hate seeing people go down with a knee injury, that could be really bad. A huge loss for us if he is out

Central got Lucky
I'm a Lumberton fan, and even I would have to disagree with that statement lol I think Lumberton definitely had a good chance, but I don't think central winning had anything to do with luck...
-
Run the Ball with Whaley. They had NO answers for this young man. But we make it hard. Smh.
I would give him the ball every play until the defense proves they can stop him.. He plays with some class too, I liked that about him! Run the ball, get up and go again. Do the talking between the whistles, and that's what he seemed to do. Hope he does good at the next level too!

Lumberton is ok...This game shouldn't have been this close. Jags played a good first half and a horrible second half. After watching the Raiders, they are in my predictions to make the playoffs...
I think we stepped it up on defense a lot in seconds half, but y'all did have several costly penalties that helped us as well. Then yalls defense made some big stops too. After we tied the game we had about 3 chances to score to take the lead and y'all shut us down. Definitely a good game. A loss is a loss, but losses like that really suck! Lol
-
you act like they blew us out. They didn't scored with 6 seconds left
not only that, but that was their only score of the second half too!
-
Great game! Lumberton had plenty of chances to win and didn't do it! #12 for central is unstoppable and has some good character. Good luck to him! Maybe now after that Lumberton will actually have some respect?? A game that could have went either way, in the end we got out talented on that last pass.
-
Nonetheless, those kids need support. I'm Glad that you're here... But Raidergirl did start the trend. Lol
yes sir she does own that title, probably Lumberton's #1 fan. Not here to take her spot just providing a little backup lol

Almost every town................ Not all of them..... We have the best following around........ And we cant get out of the 1rst round.....
But the difference between you and us is at least you make it to the first round... As long as Lumberton does the smart thing and keep Babin around no matter how we end up doing this year, then hopefully one day we will have the reputation that PNG has, and maybe we can keep some loyal fans!
For the kids' sakes... Nobody like playing in front of empty bleacher. Luckily this year we don't have that problem.. Hopefully we can keep it going.
-
She speaks the truth....
Hey I agree with you and her. And yall are right, there are a lot of fans like that in Lumberton. But that goes for every town too though!!
But I'm just the newbie lol don't jump on me for what they did in the past! Although I must admit I don't blame you for it!
-
I guess posting on this site makes you a true fan? And everyone else doesn't matter then right? In that case there is a whole lot of "fair weather" fans in the stands at every stadium on Friday nights!
-
WHO ARE YOU??? Haha I was class of 2010!!!!
I just replied to you message lo sorry I'm tryin to figure all this out still.
-
Haha trust me a lot of Lumberton look on here but don't post
I've been looking on here all season, just decided to finally jump in on all the fun.. And trust me, I may be a "newbie" to this, but I'm not a new fan. Been one since 1993 when I was born into this great town! And also played under coach babin when he OC for credeur, so I have a lot of respect for him and what he has done for our team!!

I agree! Not taking anything away from PNG cause they are a great team with good receivers, but I can't understand how we constantly got beat deep! I think it says more about our defense.. But I want to say again, their pass game is lethal. I just think we could have put up a better fight in secondary.
