  1. If GCM beats Nederland and we win out...we might still get a trophy. I'll take that. You might better find another band wagon this year.

But.....since we're just spectators...we just get pics of trophys and ribbons...lol

Or GCM and us could do you a favor and both beat Nederland.. Then you will definitely get a trophy!

  2. Without having any knowledge of what actually happened, my opinion is that play calling was "horrible" only because it wasn't executed correctly.. On the double reverse if they would have scored a td then fairclothe would be a genius right now.. That's how it always is on almost every game.... As my coaches always told us, every single play is designed to score a touchdown if it is executed correctly. In such a crucial play like the one last night, the coach has to make a tough decision on whether to keep it simple and do something that is expected, or try to catch them off guard..

PNG is still a great team and hopefully players can keep their confidence in their coach!

  3. Coach Lynch, Vandeveer, and Smith- I know they were middle school coaches, but they are who made a lot of Nederland athletes who they are. I know coach Lynch retired but how they let Coach V get away man. These guys takes ego's, attitudes, and structure and made winners. Nothing against head coaches in high school, but middle school coaches mold the athlete. So to Coach Lynch and V hats off to what you put into Nederland history. Coach Smith still doing his thing on field and court. I know it was long but these guys deserve a lot to which no one will give them due respect.

I like the point you made.. Can't wait till varsity to start teaching them these things. By then it's too late. And the guys you mentioned are doing all those things without the recognition too. Good picks, and they are probably a huge part of Nederlands success.

  4. Coach Babin at Lumberton. Turning boys into mature young men is what his mentality is centered around. And with such a low percentage of high school athletes that actually go on to play at the college level, and even less going pro, I would rather my kids learn under someone who brings that to the schools. Discipline, work ethic, and respect.. That's what will help them succeed at life not just sports.. Don't get me wrong, I believe he is a great football coach and has only began to show what he can do with his team, but that imo is his best quality.

  5. Isn't Lumberton's enrollment barely above the minimum to be in 5A???  I would think Lumberton will drop down and play against WOS, Silsbee, etc.

Yes we are actually  much closer to some 4A schools than we are to the 5A schools in our district when speaking of enrollment. But with the growth I don't see us ever moving down.

  6. L-TRAIN YOUR TEAM IS BETTER BUT YOU WILL SEE THE DOGS AND VIDOR AND GCM SO DON'T JUMP IN YET LOL

FIRST ITS ABOUT MY KID AND NO OTHER KID GETTING HURT THEN ITS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO PLAY THE GAME THE TEAM AND PERSON IS ONE , THE KID WAS NOT MADE FOR THE GAME THE GAME WAS MADE FOR THE KIDS. GOD , FAMILY AND TEAM ---AND IF YOU SAY THE TEAM IS FAMILY TRUE BUT UNDER GOD THERE IS NO TEAM JUST A WORLD FAMILY

GREAT GAME AND I ENJOY THIS SITE

I can agree with you there!

  7. TRUE NOW GO BEAT PNG ---

    BULLDOGS RULE!

YOUR TAIL GATE WILL BE STRONG FOR YEARS BECAUSE YOUR SYSTEM PLAYERS WILL BE THERE TALKING ABOUT BEATING CENTRAL ,BY THE WAY WE WILL BE AT BIG 12 GAME AND SEC  WATCHING OUR PLAYERS  AND SOME ON SUNDAYS SO SAY WHAT YOU WANT YOU WILL NEVER BE A PA OR BMT -- WITH PLAYERS == SO LEAVE IT ALONE YOUR HIGH SCHOOL COACH IS GOOD THE BEST IN THE AREA BUT ASK HIM WHAT HE THINKS LOL== BEAUMONT HOME OF THE PROS ! MATCH THAT !!!

Beaumont is home of the pros, and Nederland is home to a team that's known year in and year out to be competitive. So Beaumont creates good players that go pro, while Nederland creates good teams that win games each and every year??  From your post that's what it looks like to me! Are we rooting for our teams to do good, or for individual players?

  8. So the question is Raider Fans.... Who has the best defense out of the Indians and Jaguars?:)

Jaguars in my opinion. We had two dropped td passes which should have put 14 more on the board. Well the first was defended well by y'all but I still think we could have come down with it.

Yall were missing yalls leader on defense, but we were missing our biggest threat in the receiving game. So that needs to be noted as well.

with that being said, central d line is good and looks better against the run. I can't comment on either teams pass defense. I would have to say in the end only based off of what I've seen that central has the better defense, but not by a long shot however!

  9. I'll pick Central in this one after playing both teams. We ran the ball with ease against Ozen, their defense could not stop our offense. If I am not mistaken, the only drives we didn't score on were one where we fumbled, and the last drive when we kneeled. The others we simply ran the ball down the field 5 yards or more at a time. A few passes here and there. I don't see Ozen being able to stop Whaley, and if he doesn't get 60 carries in this game then I would be surprised!.. And on the other side, Central's great Defense will match up a lot better than we did.

  10. Lumberton couldn't get any push defensively and couldn't cover the good routes ran by the PNG receivers long enough at times. They just don't have the numbers athletically to overcome injuries at some positions. Missing one of their best linebackers allowed PNG to consistently double the Raiders best pass rusher. And, yes high school coaches by now have scouted opposing teams thoroughly. They knew who to double. Offensively the Raiders dropped too many passes. There weren't a lot of open looks but you have to take advantage when the ball hits you in the hands, or stomach lol. The offense greatly missed their big tight end in the passing game and especially in the run game. He has a knack for finding the soft spot in the secondary and can exploit mismatches. They missed his blocking on the edge all night. The Raiders made me very proud in that they ALWAYS fight to the end of every game. The fans that left early are a complete embarrassment! Don't think these young men don't notice. Unforgivable. I see the Raiders getting 3 out of the last 4 and making the playoffs. GO RAIDERS!!!

Good points made.. Our pass rush, or lack of actually, was the most upsetting thing.. The last thing you want to do when playing against an awesome quarterback is not get pressure on him... Was Morse even touched the whole night?? Key injuries definitely hurt us.. Still a chance to make the playoffs and that's what we need to focus on getting to!!

  11. I can't disagree with you but they do make mistakes. For example the kid from Nederland that went to UT. I think his last name was Johnson. He had the size and speed but didn't workout, Tony Brown is another that comes to mind. The kid was top ranked just based on his 40 speed but the kid can't tackle. I'm sure there is several more that fall under that same situation.  It has to be a tough job to be a recruit but when the ones that don't workout they can look at there coach and say he ran a 4.4 and has size. Perhaps that's what keeps there jobs.

Yeah I'm sure there has been a LOT of potentially good players overlooked due to being undersized or too slow, and also a lot of ones who were over recruited just based off of those things as you said. It goes both ways. It's pretty much a gamble. But it's the same thing going from college to pro. How many stud college players did absolutely nothing in the pros.. Since you mentioned UT, Vince Young comes to mind when I think of that lol same with Matt Leinart.. It's a lot different when you take the next step up. It happens from HS to college, and college to pro level.

  12. That's where I think most scouts make there mistakes in recruiting kids. They look at there 40 time and size, when they should be looking at how a kid performs on the field.  Krautz want blow you away with his 40, it's probably 4.58 or 4.6 but can flat out play the game. I personally would pick him up as a slot receiver. JMO...

In my opinion they are scouts for a reason and know what to look for. Being a good D1 recruit and being a good High School football player are two different things. And the difference is speed and size. Because in D1 it's the best of the best. Just because someone can outrun a high school defense doesn't mean they would have a chance of doing that in college.

For example, Cody Hussey in 2007 was the best high school running back I've ever watched... But he was undersized and didn't get any big time offers that I know of and ended up playing for Lamar. Still something to be proud of! But it goes to show that you've got to be big, fast, and strong to play D1...
