  1. By "not all that", are you saying it's not happening?
  2. Me too! Every year we have several good players, we just don't have the overall talent to get it done. Hopefully that will change sometime soon!!
  3. Not saying Lumberton will be district champs.. Not even gonna say they will make the playoffs. Been in Lumberton my whole life, and love my raiders, but I'm also not delirious. We've lost a lot, including coaches. All we can expect now is to rebuild, put the work in at the younger levels, and hope to start building a better program. Which is what Babin's intentions are.
  4. He has a lot of heart, hopefully he's put a lot work in this offseason! one thing I know for sure, babin has those boys working their butts off, I know that from experience with him. He'll do the best with what he has to work with.
  5. He was, he's a receiver though. #33 was our fullback that we lost who was very good as well. #2 upshaw was the back up and should be pretty good this year, along with Conway at running back.
  6. Both running backs But we had a decent back up, and two good freshmen backs. Only time will tell
  7. Cocky and confidence are the same thing, just depends on what side your on. For someone who is a favorite to be a repeat state champ, I think a little confidence is understandable! i always enjoyed reading your scouting reports.
  8. Silsbee got into foul trouble, and Cleveland's #4 was draining 3s all night. That's what happened in the fourth. I'm not saying Silsbee should have won, but it should have been much closer!!
  9. The only thing Jack Dallas has over Dontre is a state title. Which is an AMAZING accomplishment by the way!! but, all I heard all year was "chain gang" defense. And that's a big reason why they won it all. Silsbees defense was horrible in my opinion, and that's why they didn't make it to state. You have to look at the bigger picture. Saying that JD is better than DT because he won a championship doesn't make sense whenever you considered the defenses that these two teams had. Defense wins championships right?? DT was the better athlete! You can argue that JD was the better qb, but when it comes to individual performance, DT did it all. His stats are crazy.
  10. I'm not sure if you would call that "spirited" just my opinion though
  11. I think play calling was bad at times, but bad both ways too. 4 techs, 2 for each team so at least he was fair in that. The first tech in my opinion was much needed because out of three games I've watched Silsbee play, that particular player has played in two (the first one he was still playing football), but he has had a bad attitude and very mouthy in both games. And he almost was involved in a fight after the game was over last time I watched them. The second which I believe was on dontre, that was him just questioning the call, happens every game in all sports. That one shouldn't have been called. this team to me does not look like a championship team for one reason: discipline. Or lack there of. Coach needs to get a handle on that. If he can instill some discipline into this team, then there's no reason why they shouldn't make a good run.
  12. In Lumberton we went through some pretty tough workouts in Athletics. One was a boot camp style workout that lasted about a month, or however long it took us to have a "perfect day". Many times I felt like I was dying lol and I hope Babin brings this workout back to the program. Anyway, the coaches preached hydration. The body can achieve a lot more than we think it can, and we were taught to push our bodies past the limit. The first few days of Raider Camp we would usually do 100-150 "up downs" because of all the mistakes we made. And that's added onto the workout we were already doing. I like the article posted from the trainer. If someone is not properly hydrated then any workout can be tough on the body, and eventually cause problems such as dehydration. It's pretty clear that some people thought it was excessive, but at the same time you have players in the article also saying that it was not that bad. I obviously am concerned about the health of the kids, but I don't think coaches should be blamed for "overworking" the athletes. Another point to consider is all the extra supplements that kids take nowadays. Creatine deprives your body of water by bringing it to the muscles (I'm not a scientist so forgive me if I'm wrong). An easy way to build muscle but break down the body if your not careful and don't take it correctly. Not to mention energy drinks that kids drink like crazy. Carbonated drinks. My point is this: I just think there is so much more to consider before we put the blame on the coaching staff.
  13. One of them is my little sister in law. And she is very good! Can pitch and hit well, although I don't think she got pulled up to pitch.. From watching her play the last few years I have seen most of the freshmen girls play, and this will be a very special class for years to come!
  14. I wouldn't say Silsbee "ran thru" either central or wb... I was at both games and they could have just as easily lost both.
  15. Gonna be a good game! Excited to get to be there.... Go Silsbee!!!
