Just wanted to give a shout out for my Broncos, We got some doubters out there, you notice I didn't quiet say haters, but we got some doubters out there, and with you or without you, this team will do great things, this group of young men are dedicated and are working as hard as any to improve, and will play Bronco Style football this year, that's where we run it down the opponents throats, kill'm with the passing game, and bust'm In the mouth on D. As always Go 2017 Dayton Broncos!!!!!

    Did you say "D"? :-)))

Oh I don't know if they will beat everybody. I just think other than Crosby they should be favored in every other game. I believe they were 8-2 last year and will be better this year. They return some good talent and will have a full year under their belt with some excellent coaching. Just prior to last year BH was horrible and last year they were very close to beating a nice PNG team and playing in the second round. A good coaching staff can turn a program around in a hurry. Just like a bad coaching staff can ruin a program in a hurry.

    Agree.

I agree about Crosby, New Chaney, and Humble if they keep it together.  I'm not sold on BH though.  Is the small receiver/returner coming back that was fast ?  It seemed he was the only play-maker they had last year.

He was small but had great speed and was "a player". They'd better be able to replace him.

His name was Skylar Langelier. Kid was about 5'9  150 but could definitely ball. BH will continue to improve and will have nice QB play this year. Not sure if they will beat Crosby but every other game they should be favored.

I'm not sure about that. They'll be competitive but to say they'll beat everyone but Crosby is optimistic imo.

I think last year's team had issues trying to find somebody to follow. I don't believe anybody on this year's team will have trouble getting behind Jaiden Howard which I think is something that can't be understated after watching what we did last year, things like Mannie and Carlos fighting on the sideline.

We won't have the exorbitant amount of talent we've had in the past several years but if the team can stay healthy like the '14 team I can see similar results. After we lost the Twins and Raelon we were supposed to take a step back but actually improved due the load being spread across the team on both sides of the ball instead on relying so heavily on three players.

I think BH will be better but Jaiden and Craig tore them up last year and while people in BH may be more excited to see the ball being tossed around I think the faster, more turnover type game they've moved towards actually play into Crosby's hands. I think NC will have a pretty decent defense but without Allison to take the pressure off Cooper, on the zone read especially, I see NC struggling to match their offensive production from last year.

I've already said it earlier but I think Crosby goes relatively uncontested in district play with maybe the exception of having an off night in Dayton or BH and playing a game that's closer than it should be.

So who do you have in the 4 spot?

    1.  Crosby

    2.  New Caney

    3.  Barbers Hill

    4.  Dayton

    5.  Porter

    6.  Humble

    7.  Kingwood Park

    8.  Splendora

    9.  Caney Creek

I agree with the order of 1-2-3. That's the order I'd put them in, but I think it will be a tight race and although I think the top 3 will be Crosby, NC & BH, I could see them in a variety of different orders.

The 4 spot is where it gets tough. Do the Broncos return to the playoffs on the backs of kids that have never played on Friday nights? Does Porter have a playoff program now or was that just a one year playoff team? Can Humble finally put some consistency together? I can see any of these 3 getting in, in the 4 spot.

But I don't like to ride the fence so I'll put Humble in the 4 spot.

Are you ready for some football?

Those west of the Trinity, especially those in red, love to rejoice in second round appearances and sightings of the hype train. No doubt that train will be rolling into the station soon. Lots of D1 recruits, speed for days, high flying offenses, intro videos in their stadium talking about being "a dog", but no real measureable results.

According to you, what would a "real measurable result" be?

I have to assume you mean a State Championship. If so, then you are correct. Crosby has done nothing.

Although I agree with you that ultimately nothing but a State Championship really matters,  I disagree that there are "no real measurable results".

    I'd count the following:

3 District Championships in a row (Yes, 2 were Co-Champs).

Around 5 years of Bi-District Championships in a row.

I think it's now a 4 year home winning streak.

3 years removed from a State Semifinal appearance.

Something like a .850 winning percentage under Riordan.

I do agree with you that the knock on the program historically and in recent years (minus the semi final run) is the inability to get out of the 2nd round. Until the Cougars can do that consistently we can only claim to be a very good area program rather than an elite team in Texas.

With that said, we are still going to be loud and proud and get on your nerves.

I got Crosby 7-3, with BH winning the district right now in June.  Last year they improved tremendously with "not much speed" and that dude can flat out coach.  Realistically I don't think many saw them making that jump last year and now he's had a full school year.  Not looking forward to that week 1 matchup.  The goal on this side of the river this year is avoid PAM and PNG in the first round.  You get either one of them and it is 1 and done.

I'm a homer but I still have Crosby +14 over BH.

  10. Crosby 10-3

8-2 Regular season. Loss to Manvel then a slip up loss. Not sure to who. Then 2-1 in playoffs.

    21-5A

    1) Crosby, 2) BH, 3) New Caney, 4) Porter / Humble

I'm not a Bronco hater. I just don't see them getting better with that few returning starters. My experience is that if you are coming off of a poor year and you have little starting experience returning, you're in trouble. Love Bronco 94's conviction and will be happy for him if the Broncos finish 2nd in 21-5A in 2017.

Could be a fun season to watch play out.

i'm not trying to stir the pot, but i don't think ANY 21-5A is going past rd 1...maybe dayton and Crosby and that's a BIG maybe. PAM and PNG will be the top dogs with PAM improving at the QB position and Hines still running the ball. PN-G brings back the top QB in the district with almost the same team. Central with a new coach and the athletes they have, they SHOULD  get past the first round. Now, Nederland should be back, but not sure how good they will be. that might be the only way a 21-5a advances...yes i know, the game is played on the field. based on last years teams...i see the golden triangle rolling on to rd two.

Heck if I know. When I think we're very good we get beat round 2. When I think we're avg we go to the semis.

2017 Coog offense appears to be in good shape. If some new faces on defense grow up, I'd put our over / under on wins at 11.

Crosby and BH will probably be the favorites to finish 1 and 2. They both return a ton of starters with excellent coaching. NC will be tough again with high enrollment and solid coaching. Humble returns a beast at QB and at least athletically will be at the top of the food chain. Question is will they live up to their potential or will they underachieve once again. Dayton will have to replace 9 of 11 starters on the offensive side and around 7 starters on defense. Im very confident about teams 1 and 2 and even NC. As for the rest I think it's a toss up. Would like to see a team from our district get past the 2nd round.

    Agree 100%
