MrFleet23 reacted to Goslin in **COACHING CAROUSEL**
Yeah, he’s really gonna need it.
He’s a lot like the guy they just fired, no HFC experience, but has worked as an assistant for some successful programs. He was at Summer Creek for a little bit, was OC at REL for a few years, he’s spent the last couple years as an assistant at Aldine Nimitz. His advantage over Ragsdale is that he’s from here, and comes from a family of athletes who all did great things here, so he knows a lot of folks here in town. I heard he was involved in youth coaching around here for a while so he knows a lot of the kids and parents which is something Ragsdale never had.
I don’t think it’ll be enough, Ragsdale had assistants that had been studs at REL back in the glory days who knew folks in town and knew the kids and all that and none of that helped at all but it didn’t hurt and now at least it’s the HFC with the local connections.
I’ve said this before and will say it again, what the new GCM HFC needs to do is go to the GCCISD Board and demand that they let GCM out of having to play REL/RSS each year. There’s no real rivalry there between the schools, GCM isn’t in the same classification as REL/RSS, and as bad off as GCM is those are 2 guaranteed losses every season. Just say “We’re 6A and play 6A teams, not little 5A teams” schedule 3 horrible HISD teams, beat all 3, and then go into District play at 3-7. Find a way to beat Channelview and end the season 4-6. That’s better than RSS’s 3-7 last season and only 2 wins back from REL’s 6-4. Most folks wont know or care how it was done, it’ll look like a big turnaround.
Who am I kidding? They’re not gonna change anything. 1-9 or 0-10 season incoming. I do wish them luck though!

New coach should be fine. Just leave a copy of the lineup on the supt's desk before the game. Just to make sure.

That’s State wide. Class of 2027 produced some dawgs. Lot of kids from that class are starting on varsity and making noise.

Another thing about Stump—positive or negative—is I believe his ex QB son is already helping him send in/call plays. So, there could be a smooth succession plan if the BH Super didn’t get in the way again. If he does, it may be easier to get a new Super than a new pedigreed coach.
Get a good 5 years from Pops, then transition to his son with some continuity. I think Pops is a couple years younger than me, and he still looks like he’s in great shape.
Just a thought…
In my old fart mind, it could make sense for all concerned.
I did see some young men in our game that had some talent. Hope they don’t get discouraged with all of this stuff.
(If they do, LP is open enrollment. 😜)

Just called a source and he's telling me said the aforementioned Gator also said thanks but no thanks...if accurate he'd be by my count the 4th guy already to say no thanks

MrFleet23 reacted to Cougtalk in Crosby (34) @ Kingwood Park (14) - FINAL
So this is the first game we have not used alternating QB's. This is apparently due to an injury which is really sad and you never want to see a kid get hurt. Continuity was there tonight, the passing game looked much better.
If I am being honest, I think the biggest thing was the QB knew if he did make a mistake he was going to right back out there to make up for it and I wonder what the effect of always wondering if you're going to be taken out at any time in the game was doing to that young sophomore who played a heck of a game
Prior to this game those "new QB for 2 plays" were completely disjointing the offense even when the plays were successful. Also we've started to do this overload to one side toss zone play that has killed everyone in district so far that we did not run prior to districts end, who knows maybe if we put our kids in space earlier in the season we might have an extra win or maybe even two this season.

It looks like that because we played better overall. He’s been moving some players around the last couple of weeks and actually trying to get some of his athletes the ball which is a lot more “offensive coordinating” than he’s been doing during his time in Crosby. We’ll take the progress where we can get it though.
We’re 3-0 in district play because we have better football players than three teams we’ve played. Again, you take the progress from the beginning of the year where we were losing to a team like Dayton who has half the talent we do. The issue is being consistently blown out by teams with equal or slightly better talent.
Crosby is benefitting record-wise from a weak district but it’s helping us learn to win again. Thursday was the most swagger I’ve seen a Crosby team play with since Willis has been our coach. Wins are wins but if you’re objectively looking at what Crosby is considering progress after a year and a half under Willis it’s a game where we play two good quarters and then get shut out until late in the fourth quarter against a team with not near the personnel of La Porte or Angleton. Crosby could be a lot better than we are but I will admit this is the best we’ve looked under Willis. I guess it’s just going to take the kids overplaying his system and play-calling to achieve the results the last two coaches did?

Maybe Texas Football will be right after all. Just have to beat Laporte and Angleton.

I did a whole post about this many years ago (gonna see if I can find it and bump it to the top), but it's really not difficult to state an opinion without violating our rules, even when the opinion is about a coach or his coaching. but if you don't trust yourself to be able to stay within the rules, it's always best to err on the side of caution

Have you seen the trash we’ve been under him his first year and a half? He’s 5-19 his last 2.5 year in the sideline.

Three opportunities to turn it into the two score game and we come away with 0 points. Two in the high red zone and one 1st and 10 from the 11 yard line. Luckily Friendswood is big and soft so we’re able to be competitive with very mediocre play.

Crosby’s defense is keeping them in this game, despite poor offensive play calling. Crosby had the ball in the red zone twice and no points.

Worst part is when our kids get in space they show that electric potential. We just have an offense that doesn't put them in space.
