j_dog reacted to CardinalBacker in Surprise Second Half of the Season Teams
They were as good as expected. Their QB is unbelievable. Running, passing, returning kicks. I heard he even drives the bus to away games. They never gave up. They capitalized on a few of our costly mistakes. They still have 3 more tough games, but it's not hard to imagine them winning the district if they stay healthy.

I think it will be more of a surprise if Jasper DOESN"T turn it around....

j_dog reacted to JB94 in Bridge City at Jasper 10/9 Predictions
This is a hard game to pick. Jasper's play on the year so far as a whole can be described as bipolar, with injuries having something to do with that, but not all of it if we're making an honest assessment of our team. BC's win over Newton doesn't look as good as it did earlier in the year. Jasper's margin of victory over Cleveland was better than BC's. (Although, I know...the transitive property is not really applicable in sports.) In the wins and losses, Jasper's discipline (too many penalties and missed assignments) have been lacking. So, I think it comes down to which Jasper team shows up on Friday. If the good Jasper team with discipline shows up, Jasper wins by two td's. If the good Jasper team shows up with the lack of discipline they've shown in the prior games, it'll be a close win for Jasper or BC. If the bad Jasper team shows up, it'll be BC by a lot.

42-21
Not what I hoping for, but a win is something to build on at least.

Good! That means to me that there is still hope to redeem the season.

williams played the whole game. Sounds like they didn't turn him lose, which was the right move coming off of a knee injury. Center made a lot of big plays on 3rd and 4th down.

j_dog reacted to runthewedge in Hardin vs Huntington
They may have athletes in your eyes, but compared to Coldsprings, Shepherd, Madisonville, etc. they are just very average kids. And those 3 teams cant hold a light to Carthage or Jasper, who use to be in the district with Huntington. Huntington may have 1 or 2 "athletes", but for the most part they are just good hard working kids.

Your surely are joking. Barbay several times took CS much farther in the playoffs than Jasper has been in a long, long time.

They were winning 2 to 3 games a year for a long time before Barbay arrived. They easily could return to that.

Apples and oranges. In the 80's and 90's Jasper was one of the smallest teams in the state in the old 4a and considering that I think they excelled. From 2002-04 Jasper was one of the largest teams in 3a. Yes, they were loaded with talent, but better than Eugene Seale, better than Reggie Davis, better than Tony Allen? Ben Bronson? Zack Bronson? John Davis? I think that if the 2002-04 teams had played defense like the Jasper teams of the 80's played they probably would have won state all three of those years especially considering that depth was in their favor in those first years down in 3a.

j_dog reacted to CraigS in SHSU -v- #3 Jacksonville St
I find it pretty funny that after the loss to the DII school everyone (in the SLC and even Jacksonville St) was laughing and making fun of them. Truth is CS-P was highly ranked and rightfully so...they were a very good football team, that beat a SHSU team, that at that point, wasn't sure of their own identity....I think that loss was the defining moment for the Kats. Not many people laughing now - unless you're a Kat fan...lol

There's talk on katfans.... with mixed opinion of him.
From what I've read of Keeler he surely doesn't mind tranfer QBs... and from what I've seen this season. ... he will not tolerate bringing baggage..... -

Wow! It seems that the bigger they are, the better Sam plays. Unless it is LSU..... -

j_dog reacted to STiger85 in Henderson QB
The Henderson QB is big and athletic with good RB and WR. The one thing that impressed me the most about their offense is that offensive line. Big boys that attack and wont stop, look like bulldozers moving opponents defense around. IMO, that's what makes them so good. -
j_dog got a reaction from Hupernikomen in Henderson 60 Jasper 43/Final
Wow Jasper, what a run, and what a sad way to lose! Henderson, congratulations on the win. Good luck next week, I have seen Navasota twice now, and they can score as quickly, or more so, than Jasper. Navasota has more offensive weapons. I think they are probably as good as the 2012 Navasota State champhionship team, perhaps even quicker, but a tad smaller overall. But you may be able to wear them down like you did Jasper. I think you definitely will bring more size to the game than Navasota. I feel that ultimately the size of your players is what finally wore the Jasper defense down. I am going to call it a toss-up right now.

Everything you just said but replace Jasper with Henderson and add in a Chappelle impersonation of Rick James saying "This is District 9, B****!"
31-21...Bulldogs.
