Remember Steph Curry wasn't ranked in the nation and went to a small school...so people get caught up in the flash and not the production...It's all opinion...

First of all, it don't matter right now because they all in different classifications. Second, cutting down the net on March 12th should be the only conversation. Good luck to all the team still playing. I'm for 409 no matter what...Please stop all of this childish behavior. Personally, I don't care about the past or who is better. All I care about is the next opponent.

Wow.. Too much action going on in here...Coach English is a good coach...Sometimes teams just play better...It's that simple. When people talking about you negative or positive, you doing something good...

Buna High School is the only High School in the State of Texas to win both boys and girls championships (same sport) in the same year three different times 1956, 1957 and 1961.
The greatest Team not program...none of those buna teams compare to that team statistically...I respect buna and the rich tradition but you can't compare....

Statistically the 2001 Ozen Panthers were the best team ever...
Ozen averaged 82 ppg.
Opponents averaged 42 ppg.
Overall record- 36-0
National rankings- top 15 nationally
6 players averaged double digits
Hall of fame coach= Andre Boutte
McDonald's All American= Kendrick Perkins...straight out of high school...
No team in this area compares statistically...
If so make your case...
Thank you

It's about match-ups and that team that's most prepared wins the game...

Just for the sake of the argument, Kountze never lost to Ozen by double figures under the helm of Todd Southerland. Also Milby was ranked 4th in the nation, and went on to win the 5A State Championship that capped off their undefeated season. I just so happened to be in Kountze tonight for a JH game.
In 2001 the score was 73 to 60 vs. Todd Southerland

It happened in the early 80's When Bridge City was ranked as high as #2 in the state...

Boutte is the championship coach and English is the non championship coach...
Someone said earlier in a post that it was like comparing Boutte to Bob Hurley or Morgan Wootten."
-
When you compare English to Boutte thats a Championship coach vs. A non championship coach...
When you compare coach Boutte to other legends thats championship COACHES compared to A championship COACH
Do you see the difference

I guess what I don't understand is why a few Ozen fans seem to get their panties in a bunch when English is complimented on the job he's done. This started with a statement I made about how much the Bulldogs have improved this year. If you saw them at the start, and have seen them now (and know anything about the game), you really can't argue this fact.
No one was putting down Saveat. In fact, he's been consistently complimented in this thread too. And I know many of you love Boutte (he is routinely brought into these threads especially by one of you), and I have nothing but respect for him. Clearly he was a heck of a coach. But it would be like every time his name is invoked, someone pointed out - "well, he is certainly no Bob Hurley or Morgan Wootten."
We have several outstanding coaches in this area and to praise one is not to deride another. Just wondering what the undercurrent is because some certainly seem to have an agenda where Brian is concerned.
When comparing Boutte to Bob Hurley or Morgan Wootten, their talent level is far more superior...combined they coached over 30 McDonald's All Americans...not a good comparison...Coach Boutte won nearly 600 games in less the time...And they recruit on a National level...that don't make them better...

Player development at ozen is tremendous...So when you say better players its a reason why...ask bmtsoulja how ozen work...so stop the less talent stuff...
-
Exactly but they said the students took their seats
-
Not a bunch but a few...
-
I heard it myself...so don't say it's not true...
-
It happened about 3 years ago I believe with the seats...A older Nederland fan said some racial comments towards some students...then the students used profanity towards that fan...

These are the D1 players in Ozen History: Josh Boyd makes 7...
Keen Young BYU
Brandon Chapel Lamar
Jason Dabney TSU
Jason Breckenridge P.V
Kris Richards Tulane
Jordan Hunter New Mexico
Josh Boyd North Western
-
Ozen has only had 4 or 5 D1 players in its 20 year history...
So what is all this talent you guys speak of...its the system...respect greatness...
-
Man lie, women lie, but numbers don't lie...
Coach is statically just better...

I believe the Coach Saveat vs. Coach English match-up is about 20 to 5 or 6...so head to head Coach Saveat is better...
Another side note, Coach Saveat has never had the luxury of coaching a 4A player of the year...So coach English had some talent...

You must don't realize that many McD's AA don't have successful college careers because many of them were Overrated...we miss-use great and phenom to often...
