There must be some mistake.... I don't see Silsbee anywhere on this list.
Gosh, even Bridge City has a state champion. What about Jasper?

Yes Sir!!!! The Mighty Burkeville Mustangs LOL
I was doing security back then for Burkeville. You came from a great family.

Newton County population about 14,000 people has 7 state championships.

Now let’s see there is lake creek, Huntsville, PNG, then the battle for 4th. No, no, Nederland finished 4th last year and that demanded a new coach. Wonder if this new coach knows what he is getting in to. Remember it has nothing to do with the players, it is all about the coach. Nederland is getting most of their starters back and should be better. Nederland scrimmaging Nederland does not mean much.
I do wish the new coach and the players the best.
I do hope that in the future this site will start enforcing the rule about bashing people on this site. It only takes a few to ruin this site. Do not think that you(or this site) is exempted from civil suit. -

Esunday are you the person that several years ago QB a team in newton county?

Some coaches "fall in love" with one kid while another one who might be as just good or even better gets little recognition. There are a lot of ways this can happen. A "legacy" kid with preferred last name, or a coaches/principals/school board/friends kid, or simply just a personality preference. I think this can be especially glaring in small school ball, but it can happen anywhere. College scouts don't care a bit about last names, etc. That, and they are just better talent evaluators overall than HS coaches and fans.
Newton has had several kids with D1 offers that never made it to college because of their grades which the colleges now look at more closely. The Woodville kid is straight A’s. Is this kid originally from Brazil?
-
Found the site with Luke on it. He has had D1 offers from TT. 6’3” 180#. Very talented for his age. Good luck to this kid who has a bright future.

@Spidersal Are you planning to spread true Negativity once again against High School athletes and the program??? There are so many questions I would love to sit and ask you but like most you have an Alias name. True example of another Coward behind a keyboard!

Yea , I'm surprised. I figured he'd make a good D1 QB. Never would have guessed he'd have 2 power 5 offers before the end of his freshman year though. Can't wait to see him in action this upcoming season
No, it was the Newton Running back.

Success breads success. Loosing breads loosing.

He is already better than Dallas’s Q B now. To bad he is not from Arkansas.

We (Newton) played Anahuac in 2022 when Barrier was a freshman and won 30-14.
the game was closer than the final score showed because Barrier made the big difference. He is as advertised. Good luck coach Neese.
P S: Do you wear your Newton Championship ring?

Be willing to bet there are more people worried about the lack of success than success at Nederland.
I see them winning 2 district games maybe 3 next year.
If you are looking for success at Nederland in the next couple years your best chance will be baseball.
Time will tell but it doesn't seem like people are buying into what the new coach is selling.
They know more than the coach. Maybe they will quit football. If you cannot stand the heat get out of the field house. Coaches do not want these grumblers anyhow.

Tom Brady Barrier. I like that a lot. Nice one AP_5309. Gonna be an exciting season. Wish yall the best of luck this year.
Barrier had a rough time at Rusk. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

I don't have the stats but I'm pretty sure Zayon had more than 25 yards receiving in just the first game alone. 38 yards rushing is obviously not accurate either. Dustin got a few carries here and there and was also utilized as a HB/TE type the last couple district games and in the playoffs
Dustin year before last was a freshman and probably played JV ball and was probably on the varsity when moved up for the playoffs. Stats are probably right for varsity.

They should hire him for the brand new 'Ambassador of All Things Nederland Football' position.

The 38 yds was yr. before last. Only sowed a few carries.

Did not think WO-S would ever lose the winning trophy. Trophy now goes to Nederland. Come on WO-S get that trophy back. The trophy has a bowl that is full of tears.

Man, the waging tongue rolls on and it’s only going to get worse. I remember when this happen at Kirbyville and a good coach quit and they are just getting their football program now.
what happen to those days when a kid got whipped at school he got another one when he got home. The good old days when the only drug i knew was when my mother drug me to Church.
Will Anahuac lose a district game ?
