Back in 1778 during the range war between Gunter vs Gunner, Gunter lost the range war and it was renamed Gunner. The old timers still call it Gunter.

Newton was 278 last enrollment and about 280 at the beginning of this year. That will probably change by 2 or 3 students who register late. Newton is in the lower count of 3A2. Teams like Woodville and Gunner are at the top count of 3A2 at 364 for high schhool enrollment. If they gain more students they could possibly go up 3A1.

Snapshot day is the day before Gunner starts recruiting local players so they do not count on their enrollment. They are on the bubble and want to stay in 3A2 ln lieu of going to a higher bracket. They have UIL Guardian angles watching over them.

Deridder is a very large school. Defeated newton by 10 points last year. I like Newton by 17.

I got the score from Tx High School football scores. They are bad about posting the wrong scores. That is where I got the kilgore /Gilmer score and went to another site and they gave the same score. Hard to believe that score kilgore 66 Gilmer 6.

The two largest 3A2 schools in that class played for the state championship. It is not all about staff or coaching.. Read where a team that travels over 150 miles to play a team only wins 16% of the time. Waco to Orange is 291 miles. Did not seem to work on Waco.
