I think anyone with any kind of football knowledge would have trouble picking a winner out of these two teams...I think Pick'ems may get a little interesting this week..
You have to throw out all of the homer picks including mine, which is WOS.
 2.
Honestly, just to piss the dude off saying that all the bear fan's are whinners.
I love it when people just flat out give honest answers. Like it or not he gave an honest answer.
 3.
WHAT BC DIDN'T TAKE A KNEE???? So it's not true as one Bear fan stated that PNG is the only HS that doesn't do this??? Once again FACTS!
I'm not sure of what their practices are but continuing to prepare for the game is smart. If a kid is seriously injured then I think most people would be silent and take a knee. WOS had a tragic experience last year that was worthy of a knee being taken. Not only that, but prayers also. We couldn't have asked for more respect and support than we got.
 4.

png hasnt taken a knee since faircloth got here and its not going to change.i think everyone in the district knows this by now.
Like I said, Classless!!
Beargrowl...watch a college football game on Saturday or an NFL game on Sunday...please tell me how many football players take a knee when someone is hurt. Do basketball players take a knee when someone is hurt? Do volleyball or baseball players take a knee when someone is hurt? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of! Maybe PNG has it right, and everyone else should stand up when someone is hurt. Let it go!
I think most teams, players and coaches take a knee when someone is seriously injured. I agree that just because a kid is down doesn't mean he is injured. More times than not they get back in the game. Sounds like PNG just kept preparing for the game. BC didn't take a knee when our running back was down last night and I didn't see that as disrespectful at all.
 5.
I met him at the old Workout Studio (now World Gym Mid-County) and he was very nice and approachable. However, he was built like a rock. No joke, I bet back then he could bench about 450 lbs and squat more than I can remember. I would be in awe watching him workout. He was just an awesome physicial specimen.
What a good read. I can remember watching him back in the day. Thanks for sharing the article.
 6.
Man, there must be a huge drop off for BC from the A Team to the B Team. WOS B Team killed BC. How about 8th grade scores?
38-0 WOS
 7.
WO-S 7th A vs BC 7th A was a GREAT junior high game. Very enjoyable all the around. Each group has a really bright future because there are some talented young players on both sides. Bridge City was big and physical while the WO-S was very impressive with the sophisticated offense that they run at such a young age. Nice job by all these young men. Rake1
I agree. Both teams have very bright future. Both teams were as advertised. Very good game. Alot of good games from these two in the future. Congrats to all the boys and congrats to BC on the win.
 8.
What time does the 7th Grade Start?  At WOS?
7B team starts at 5. 7A team after that then 8th grade.
 9. I saw the new uniforms and helmet stickers that the Booster club got for the junior high kids and they are nice. These kids have been needing things like this and it's nice to see people who truly care about these kids to take their time out and raise money to get them some nice things. These kids work hard and they deserve it...all of them.
The booster club purchased pants and helmet stickers. The jerseys were purchased by The Merlin Broussard family in his honor. That being said the middle school has a very good and active booster club led by Mr. Mavis Williams.

My guess on Hooks sending his kids to BCISD is that he wanted them to have a quality education.
Starting center is out due to grades. The back-up center (was the starter, but lost the job). Which one left the team? Either way, it's never good to see a kid quit.
It's my understanding that Finney quit. I was told he was the starting center. Grades came out two weeks ago.
Unless something has taken a dramatic change, there is no way Finney is lost to grades. Not even close.
 11. Well deserved monument for what I understand was a man amoung men. Great mentor for the kids of Newton. Congrats Coach.
 12. I too would like to thank the STJFL and the Lil Mustang program. Both of my boys have had a wonderful time while with them. One has moved on to 7th grade ball and he was very prepared by his coaches. This is the last year for my youngest and he will be prepared for 7th grade next year. Thanks to all of the other teams for what they do for all kids and for the competition. Its been a great ride for me and my boys.
 13.
I decided to go and watch Nederland White VS WOS this past weekend. Wow, the score at the end did not tell the whole story. It was a war from the opening kickoff. Ned. started strong and surprised WOS to go up 13-0. WOS adjusted well and won the game by a score of 35-13. It seemed like the score should have been much closer. For the most part, Nederlands defense did a very good job of containing the speed of WOS. The defensive line did a very good job and #9 from Nederland was all over the field, the best open field tackles I have seen against the WOS team all year. I hope we get to see these two teams play again this year. Good luck to both teams and congrats on a good win by WOS.
It was without a doubt a tale of two halves. Second half adjustments made all the difference in the world. Nederland wasn't able to do too much on offense the second half much like WOS wasn't able to do too much on offense the first half.
 14.
TD what the heck are you talking about this is NOT the first time wo-s has had a closed practice and you know that like others READ MY LIPS (NO BIG DEAL HERE) i am NOT trying to be a smart A - - about this
If it's no big deal why are you asking the question? Look Sammy, you are the one that comes on here and tells everything you see and hear at practice and then just can't figure out why in the world coach would close his practices.
 15.
oh and by the way dallas there is no law on here that says that myself like others on here cant come on and repet what someone has said ok .if all this is true  its a good move on coach thompson part to try and get things done [/quot Absolutely no law against it at all. However, it is a good reason to close practice.

Coach T. is doing the right thing here. My opinion.
Couldn't agree more!

You come on here and repeat everything you hear and see at practice.
 18.
Good luck to WOS, even though I attended BC until HS I live in West Orange, graduated from LC-M and attend Community. So those are the 3 schools in pull for. WOS, LCM and CCS. Good luck to all three. In closing my brother was a high school coach and if the HC/AD wants you the approval by the school board is a formality.
You win. Your mind is made up and it is and will be as you perceive it regardless of the facts. Therefore you must be right.

One, the dude bleeds blue and silver. He just won the 3A track meet for the third time in a row. Second, his own father got the Orangefield job without being a OC or DC for the Mustangs. So, you are telling me even though he put his name in the hat for the WO-S job he was leaving? Then you are made aware Coach Hooks is retiring but you don't think Toby Foreman knew?
No, he was leaving if he didn't get the job. I agree with Gas, he had valid reasons that made it hard to argue with him. No hard feelings. Toby is still a Mustang and always will be.
Okay maybe Toby didn't know 100% that someone within the staff would be promoted to head coach by the school board but I bet it was a pretty high number. I even posted someone in the coaching staff  would get the job on one of the message boards before it was announced. I'm done here as I guess Toby is close enough to the two of you to say he and Coach Thomspon has a different philosophy and they don't agree on the best way to play HS football on the offensive side of the ball. Fair enough, good luck to WOS the rest of the season. Re:Dan Hooks retires from WOS 6 months, 4 weeks ago #9083 bigred360 OFFLINE Supporting Member Posts: 1843 I can't believe this. That program and school has been hit hard this year. Coach Hooks is a great coach. Maybe what happened Reggie Garrett and Coach Barbay effected him and lead him to this decision. He is a coaching legend in SE Texas and will be missed. I believe WO-S will stay in house and hire from within the program.  Just posted this post of mine so you didn't think I wasn't truthful. This article was written Wednesday, April 20, 2011, it's about Cornell Thompson being named HC. [Hidden Content] The article about Toby Foreman was written Tuesday, May 17, 2011. [Hidden Content] Why so much time if he knew he was already leaving?
He had to have a job that was approved by the school board. These questions would be better answered by Toby if you really want/need to know. I'm done here too. Should be a good game between WOS and BC. Looking forward to watching that one.

 21.
TD do you think after coach thompson leaves will coach foreman put his name in the hat agan . there was a lot of names as the SUPT told me that wanted this job very bad not only coaches in texas but across this great country of ours.wo-s has a few people in there coaching staff that would fit in when coach thompson packs it up when he is ready and i hope no time soon  ;). ok now IMO coach foreman should have stayed no matter what there is more to all of this story that we will ever know :-X
I have no idea, that wasn't part of the conversation I had with him.
 22.
Well, he wasn't going to be the OC under Coach Thompson so the writing was on the wall so to speak. BTW, I think you know my sister Kim Rose (married to Darwin Brack).
I just met her this weekend. I disagree that the writing was on the wall. He always intended to leave if he didn't get the head job. Those words from his mouth to my ears. He told me that right after he applied and long before any decision was to be made.
 23.
I think not keeping Coach Toby Foreman was a mistake by Coach Thompson and it has hurt the team more than anyone would have thought. I know Coach Thompson believes in a strong running game and great defense but Coach Foreman's spread offense suits the skills of the mustang players better IMHO.
Once again Toby left on his own. It was his choice to leave.
