  1. I heard it was a broken collarbone. If true, he’s out for probably three months.
  2. I guess we could have always scheduled Bellaire if we were worried about our preseason record
  3. The biggest thing that sticks out to me for this PNG team is our inability to get into the end zone from short yardage. We had the ball in the red zone at least three times against Crawford and we couldn’t just punch it in. We had it on the 30 against PAM with an opportunity to go up by at least 10 and we couldn’t turn it into points. That’s just not a position we’ve seen png in during the Jeff Joseph era. It’s hard to think we’ll win any game against state contenders if we can’t fix it. I’m hoping we can.
  4. Brenham is better than anyone we’ve played, and big in the trenches. We’ll play them tough and hopefully get better. We’re better than anyone they’ve played this season too. But I’m having trouble finding their weaknesses. This is a perfect game to be humbled and develop for the long term. Be there in numbers and be loud.
  5. PNG? I think png holds 13,000 and Nederland holds between 8,000 or 11,000. I don’t recall exactly.
  6. Alvin Mosley at slot is a nightmare.
  7. North Shore by 21. By 28 if SOC doesn’t shake hands.
  8. let’s stop talking about an individual player. We’re lucky he’s on our team. The kids come on this site.
  9. Alvin Mosley’s a problem. He’s a grown man among boys. PNG’s secondary is going to have to show who they really are this week. Crawford’s defense is really fast. Not very large. We’ll move the ball on them but we have to be smart. If we try to play home run derby against these guys we miss out on our advantages running the ball and our size in the trenches (we aren’t huge but we aren’t tiny either). We have to pound the rock to negate their speed in the secondary, improve tackling and secondary coverage, and maintain long drives that keep the ball out of Mosley’s hands. This is a very winnable game. We’re better than the other two teams Crawford has played this year. Our physicality on defense is going to be a new problem for them, and we have the best offense they’ve seen this season. We’ve prepared for this game. Crawford is fast, but so is PAM and PAM has way more size. So, we just need to fall back on the PNG staples: ball control, first downs, and defense.
  10. Silsbee 28 Nederland 14
  11. png is now 1-7 against West Brook. I guess we can take some consolation in the fact that we’re undefeated against West Brook for the past 31 years.
  12. Bigger question is why we’re throwing a 40 yard pass on 3 and 1
  13. WB’s averaging, by my eyeball guess, about 5 yards a carry. If they would keep pounding the rock they’d keep the ball out of our hands and really wear us down. That’s what PAM did. Nothing fancy. Them trying to throw is a gift to us.
  14. Baylin Valcin is the best safety png’s ever had. And the best player on this team. Dude is everywhere.
  15. That drive was exactly what png needs. Run, run, short reliable pass, run some more
  16. West Brook proving me right. They had 1 and 5 and threw a 40 yard …. Interception. Just run the ball. You have 4 chances to get 5 yards.
  17. Every time png throws it on 2nd and 8 I want to pull my hair out. We don’t need 40 yards, we need another 3 or 4. We just wasted three plays in a row and didn’t move the ball at all.
  18. They passed against png and looked fine. I’m just saying if WOS needs to pass they can.
  19. I saw Nederland in person last week and WOS in their scrimmage against PNG. Nederland didn’t show me anything that says they’re at a point where they can contend with the combination of Jefferson and WOS’s passing game. Conversely, if Nederland runs the ball the way they did against West Brook they aren’t going to get much on the ground. This might be a three-score game by halftime.
  20. That’s a bummer. They did a great job.
