  1. Just compiled it: With 3 State Champions yet to be crowned in 2016 here are the current all-time rankings among all 448 11-man UIL Champs crowned since 1920. Average Margin of Victory over entire victory season 1. Big Sandy 1975 Class B Champ 57.79 2. Aledo 2013 4A-2 Champ 55.19 3. Waco 1927 1A Champ 53.64 4. Big Sandy 1973 Class B Champ 49.57 5. Alto 2006 1A-1 Champ 49.00 6. Abilene 1923 1A Champ 47.17 7. Refugio 2011 2A-2 Champ 46.67 8. West Orange-Stark 2016 4A-2 Champ 46.38 9. Munday 2012 1A-2 Champ 46.13 10. Mart 1999 2A-1 Champ 45.93
  2. Whatever... I was there in 1985 when WOS was the smallest 5A school in the state and had Houston Yates tied 6-6 leading in penetrations mid-4th quarter. The same Yates that shutout Permian 37-0 in the State Finals. I was there in 2000 when WOS was one of the smallest 4A schools in the state and knocked off Friendswood, LaMarque and Calallen in succession before losing in the State Finals. WOS has no control over where the UIL places them but we've been in the gauntlet more than once.
  3. Someone seems a little less lost on this thread now. I can't quite pinpoint it. Hmmmm
  4. Latest USA Today National Top 25 Look who's #23 [Hidden Content]
  5. And from the Seguin Gazette which is essentially where Navarro is [Hidden Content]
  6. Trivia question. Sweetwater has only lost in one State Final to date. Who beat them, when was it and is anyone here old enough to remember? Hint: Two State Title games were played in the Golden Triangle the same day that year 10 miles apart. One local won, one lost.
  7. The fact that that is actually happening is funny enough given the huge differences in enrollments but some of the comments are amusing. Katy is taking up for us. Cibolo Steele seems butthurt. Lol [Hidden Content] Delete if you don't want me linking to other sites. Not trying to advertise for them at all just found it funny they even bit at the bait.
  8. Eh... Carthage beat Gilmer... Silsbee came a hair from beating Carthage
  9. On Friday rush hour starts and ends early because of so many places that let out early. By 6:30 it's generally not too too awful coming from the opposite direction as long as there isn't a major accident. 610 South on the East side is usually only bad between I-10 and I-45 for all of those heading home to Clear Lake, Friendswood and Galveston. I'd check the traffic that day and if I-10 and 610 are that bad you can take 146 through Baytown and then 225 which goes directly to 610 and bypasses that. There is no easy route there from Orange. Definitely don't go inside the 610 loop.
  10. What could we do to get the PNG fans there. They would scare you to death.
  11. It's essentially Seguin, a town on IH-10 just east of San Antonio, just like West Orange is mostly Orange. And you've probably never heard of them because they were everyone's homecoming game for decades until the last 6-7 years. Their record was 131-227-8 at the end of 2007. School opened in 1972. They've won 23 playoff games, never made it to the semis until this year. WOS has won 24 since 2011. None of that matters in this game coming up. Other than WOS has more experience in the big lights of a semifinal AND at NRG.
  12. USA Today has this game as the #1 vs #2 team in all of 4A including D1. #7 vs #22 statewide [Hidden Content]
  13. Sorry but Refugio almost beating Navarro is the equivalent of WOS almost beating Allen
  14. 2A Refugio held Navarro to 14 points, almost won that game and yes Refugio is good but have you checked out their enrollment and size? If the top Offense and Defense in 2A can almost beat them surely WOS (the top defense in 4A AND the entire State) can.
  15. That Calallen Semi in 2000 has to be the biggest showstopper though.
  16. Losteraussie is scurred methinks even though I'm giving him free food when he accidentally sits on our side at AT&T again in 12 days
  17. We will never know. That's the point but the computers say yes. Katy is currently sitting at home and WOS isn't. They can only play who the UIL dictates. The only Katy ISD team WOS has beaten was State Ranked Mayde Creek 14-0 in 1988. I can't remember any other Southeast Tex team beating anyone from Katy.
  18. Westlake is gonna lose big time this week. I'd actually bet on WOS against them.
  19. WOS, Orangefield, BC and LCM are all within 10 miles of each other. If they were to combine they'd be 6A. But the tradition prevents that from happening as well as some school board members, county officials and some other reasons that everyone knows. My point is TJ, SFA and Lincoln had decades of success and tradition most importantly. Mergers generally do not go well with Forest Park, South Park and Hebert being a huge exception but even then 1982 was NOT a fun year from August until Thanksgiving.
  20. Cuero is seriously butthurt about your picks.
  21. WOS would shut down Navarro easily... Lot's of points but still Slot-T and not even as good as last year when Cuero beat them and Navarro only managed 14 points against a 2A team this year. Yes Refugio is awesome but they also have half the enrollment of Newton and only lost 6-14. it's a toss up IMO. I have my Cuero friends so I'm rooting for Cuero yet know that Cuero and Gilmer would match up the best against us.
