  1. Yes, Porter is the best HS football team in the State of Texas. You took over Liberty's spot from last week. Enjoy it while it lasts!
  2. All District Champs from UIL 11-man Football Districts that included Largest Classification teams from the Beaumont/Port Arthur area from 1920-2015 are compiled and listed in the initial post. District standings for all teams in each district are listed starting in 1931. Prior to 1931 the districts were set up such that there was no mandatory set round-robin system and most teams didn't play EVERY other team in their particular district so an actual "Standings" is very difficult to compile although I am working on it. I will move on to the area 2nd Largest Classification Districts probably starting with 1948 which was the first year that a lower classification was allowed to advance to a State Championship. The Largest Classification District Champion Tally from 1920-2015 (96 Total Years is as follows) - Only the team that qualified for the playoffs or the 1st place spot in the playoffs is counted *In 1937 there was no district champ proclaimed. Southeast Texas (Beaumont/Port Arthur) had two largest classification districts from 1968 through 1975* 23 - Port Arthur Jefferson 1928 1929 1933 1935 1936 1938 1940 1944 1948 1949 1950 1953 1957 1958 1959 1960 1963 1966 1969 1970 1980 1981 1982 13 - Baytown Lee 1941 1942 1943 1945 1947 1951 1952 1955 1988 1997 1998 2000 2003 10 - Beaumont West Brook 1983 1984 1986 1987 1991 1992 1994 2006 2007 2009 9 - Beaumont High 1922 1923 1924 1925 1931 1932 1934 1956 1970 8 - Galena Park North Shore 1995 1996 2001 2008 2010 2013 2014 2015 6 - Port Neches-Groves 1961 1968 1974 1975 1976 1977 4 - Beaumont South Park 1939 1962 1972 1973 3 - Beaumont Hebert 1967 1969 1971 3 - Port Arthur Lincoln 1971 1972 1973 3 - La Porte 1993 2011 2012 2 - Houston Reagan 1920 1930 2 - Nederland 1964 1965 2 - Beaumont French 1974 1975 2 - West Orange-Stark 1979 1985 2 - Beaumont Central 1989 1990 2 - Humble 1999 2002 2 - Spring Westfield 2004 2005 1 - Orange Stark 1921 1 - Houston San Jacinto 1926 1 - Houston Davis 1927 1 - Pasadena High 1946 1 - Galveston Ball 1954 1 - Charlton-Pollard 1968 1 - Vidor 1978
  3. Was looking for Henderson in the Top 10 after that whole to-do in the other thread but I'm confused... oh wait, there they are in the honorable mentions. ;p
  4. It's usually point differential with a maximum number set to prevent purposeful blowouts. I don't know what the max number is set at currently. It used to be 18 or something near there. Liberty is currently +15 against OF and -3 against HJ which = +12 HJ is +3 against Liberty = +3 OF is -15 against Liberty = -15 If that's the way it still works Orangefield would have to beat Hardin-Jefferson by 9 points to get the 3rd seed in the district as that would put both OF and HJ at -6 and OF would get the higher seed due to the head-to-head game. For OF to get the 2nd seed they would have to beat HJ by at least 28 points to pass Liberty in point differential which I believe is above whatever the maximum limit is so it probably isn't possible. Of course given OF and Liberty both lose to WOS. This is just a guess given the way ties have been broken in the past. The rules are set by each district committee and can be completely different for every district which makes it no fun trying to figure out come this time of year.
  5. The above is JUST the start of what should be an extensive listing of all the area district results over the years going back to the early days of the UIL. MORE TO COME SOON!

  7. Oh... just realized we have a troll on our hands. That's cute! We can compare with the Gilmer and Carthages out there easily. In the past 5 seasons we've won just as many titles as both of them, have played in the same number of state finals as both of them and pretty much the only stat either has us beat in is a single head-to-head game with both. Gilmer is 61-7 since 2012, WOS is 60-7. WOS hasn't lost before the Quarterfinals since 2010 so we've done pretty well outside of our apparently horrendous neck of the woods. And if you wanna go back further than 5 years try me >;-). I was being kind keeping it to 5. Remind me how Henderson was doing before dropping down a class or actually, remind me how they did last year? Also.. I do recall an area playoff game back in 1995?? WOS beat a certain Henderson that game. Was it the same Henderson?
  8. All of them except when we went 3-7 in 1983 and 5-5 in 2001. So that would be 38 out of 40. Oh wait... teams? I read seasons. That would take quite a bit longer to figure out lol.
  9. Austin Westlake has the state record of 71 consecutive district game wins from 1990-2002. Aledo currently has the longest active streak in the state with 65. WOS has several streaks: 37 from 1986-1992, 32 from 2003-2008, and currently has won 36 as of this week. We've won 68 out of the last 69 dating back to 2003.
  10. Region 3 is turning out to be quite strange this year. Wouldn't be surprised if there were some rematches from district 12 in there as none of the other favorites are doing too well. There are only 7 teams in the region with 2 losses or less, 3 of whom are in our district. My regional predictions: District 9 1. Lorena 3-0, 5-3 - Still has to play Connally and Fairfield - prediction 5-0 2. Robinson 2-1, 6-2 - Still has to play Salado and Mexia - prediction 4-1 3. Connally 2-1, 5-3 - Still has to play Lorena and Salado - prediction 3-2 4. Giddings 3-0, 6-2 - Still has to play La Grange and Columbus - prediction 5-0 2. Caldwell 2-1, 4-4 - Still has to play Gonzales and La Grange - prediction 4-1 3. 11. Going back to the original post I believe I was actually one of the first ones on the board to point out that Liberty was getting some props across the state including from DCTF and as a WOS grad I would say please don't generalize and lump us all together. I congratulated you and am genuinely excited to see the Panthers doing well because it's honestly been a while. I can understand where people are coming from on both sides. I can't (well I actually could but I'm responding from my phone) count the number of times the WOS Staff and Team have had weeks where they face an undefeated or state ranked team and must remain focused on themselves, getting the job done and not listening to the chatter. More times than not they've won with some exceptions (Silsbee breaking the 30+ game district game winning streak 7 years ago is the most recent example that comes to mind.) People actually make fun of me because I always get worried when WOS is doing well mostly due to living through those games where we were huge favorites, got complacent or something else happened and didn't win. Paris 1988 State Finals, Ennis 2000 State Finals or games where we came SOOO close but then didn't (Yates 1985, La Marque more than once in the '90s) come to mind. WOS fans get used to the Mustangs winning. Unfortunately that translates into added stress on the kids and coaches because they want to live up to the standard and also not disappoint families and the community and it ALSO translates into a lot of the fans just expecting the same outcome yet again which can come across as arrogant or cocky. Do I personally believe Liberty will beat WOS this year? No, but that doesn't mean it absolutely 100% couldn't happen. That's why the games are played on the field and not message boards. I wish the best of injury-free luck to both and who knows... if all the latest rankings/polls/computers are correct we could meet up a 2nd time in the Quarterfinals. OR neither of us could. We shall see!
  12. You didn't lose very often. Pretty consistently won with some really good seasons over the years.
  13. I've been trying to finish up the old SFA history and was just wondering if there were any old-timers out there that can tell me why and when Port Acres became known as SFA. I've found yearbooks back to the 1940's with the school officially named Stephen F. Austin High but newspapers and media in general didn't start calling it SFA consistently until the 1960's. Couldn't find anything on the PISD site really.
  14. What browser are you using? I haven't had that problem. Haven't even seen the ad actually.
  15. I agree Gunho. Region III is strangely down this year for the first time in recent memory. Who knows though. Can't get complacent! Region IV is gonna be a dogfight between Cuero, Navarro, Wharton, Wimberley and despite the whooping last week you can't count Sinton out just yet. Every possible thing that could go wrong did in that game. Liberty gets a mention as one of three teams to watch on the DCTF live show today... six minutes and ten seconds in. They got the classification wrong though lol.
  16. Not to hijack the thread but since we still have 11 days to go oh well: Wharton is in Region 4 now so would have to make it through the gauntlet of the likes of Cuero and Navarro before there would be any chance of a rematch which wouldn't be until the Semifinals. They ARE looking pretty good in a tough district. Their regular season finale vs Cuero will be an interesting game to keep an eye on.
  17. [Hidden Content] Hmmm... Liberty #4 in the state behind Gladewater. This ranking was before the games Friday. Point being every ranking around has Liberty as the toughest competition yet, even ahead of Kennedale so spouting off about how WOS is gonna go 62-0 is just setting it up to either be embarrassing if it doesn't happen or just not very classy if it does. I give Liberty props getting from where they were to where they are. My two cents. And yes this thread was unnecessary two weeks ahead of the game.
  18. yep [Hidden Content] WOS 38 Liberty 14 That's not what I would predict but I'm keeping my mouth shut If anything I'd say that's an awesome statement for our district and something Liberty AND WO-S can both be proud of even if it's just a computer spitting out numbers.
  19. Not to throw flames on the fire... but I know it will lol. Calpreps has WOS and Liberty as #1 and #2 in D2 Region III. Quarterfinal rematch? [Hidden Content]
  20. ... wow. And 12 more days of this. It hasn't started elsewhere yet (over in my neck of the interwebs) and I hope it doesn't at least for another week lol. Have fun with this guys.
  21. PNG should play Plano and Permian every year. Those games were unreal in the 70's and the Plano game held the state attendance record for close to 30 years. PNG is also the only SE Tx team to notch a win on the scoreboard against Permian back in '75. French tied them. TJ came close.
