Hey well there ya go. I guess I was wrong. I can admit it. Even still, these guys are trying to use PA as a model of success against BMT schools. My points still stand about why BMT is struggling vs the schools they had to play in 6A. Now that they are in 5A, lets see. If things are still abysmal, then maybe they have valid points. But they hate they fact I add in how poor the culture of the city and schools are. If they weren't terrible, people wouldn't be pulling their kids out and moving out of BMT by the droves every year lol. Those things matter for football success. They just don't wana hear it. Their whole family been in BMT they whole lives evidently lol it's personal to them. Well, someone has to take the blame for all the kids and their discipline problems and academic struggles. BMT is rife with them on a scale that isn't normal. Truth hurts.

Im just wondering when has the city or culture ever been great to where people wanted to stay in beaumont. And lets be real, it not like people are moving their kids to better cities and cultures. We are talking about sports here. People are literally making lateral moves for the sake of making the playoffs not state championships. and i would like to know what kids are moving that made an impact in BISD? Looking the kids that transferred out of bisd only 4 had varsity experience and they all came from wb. who then went off to silsbee, ce king, converse judson and kelly. everyone else played freshman and jv. If you cant dominate freshman and jv, what make you think youre going to come up in this district and dominate in your position? and Id like to know how many of yall actually watch WB and BU play to make comments about there programs? Because reading these comments, either yall dont watch these teams play or yall dont know football.

Only sophs have played varsity at WB period at any position. This will be a first. He almost beat NS JV a few weeks ago.  Dual threar kid who be highly recruited in a few yrs.

Add Michael Feacher to that freshman list. He made his varsity debut against NS in 2020. Also played in the playoffs with that 2020 team. Been on varsity every since. Bryce Anderson started that wave. Very well deserving of it as well. This qb is talented. Ive seen his games and the kid has a bright future.

  3. Let's be real about this. Back in those days i've never seen or heard of all this recruiting that goes on in high school football. Some of these parents act like they are getting paid millions to move their kids to the other side of setx to play football. Beaumont has lot a lot of kids due to angry parents moving because of playing time on varsity when they couldnt dominate freshman nor JV. Its not about the facilities and weight rooms. Its all about playing time for RIGHT NOW. If beaumont kept there kids where they belong you would see different levels of competition. Do you see kids transferring out of the city to go play basketball like you see for football? Whether its Silsbee, port arthur, kelly, or houston schools. No its only football. These parents really dont understand the process of getting their child recruited. Its the camps that they need to attend and do good on the film that they do create. Every player on elite HS teams doesnt get offers to college. So why do these parents do all this moving around when you dont have to? But then want to blame the HS coach for you taking your athlete to another school and get mad when your child have to sit out. Be smart with your kid.

My brother in Christ... Vince Lombardi couldn't win games with West Brook right now. There's so many things wrong there and in the city. Easy to blame coaching, but nobody wants to acknowledge the truth about how terrible the culture of the school and city is. The kids run the school. Discipline is a joke at West Brook. Also, don't just say there's "talent" there, when really, there isn't much. Every year young families move out of Beaumont more and more. The city has to give these kids a reason to love football. It is a basketball city now. If the kids who play basketball all played football too, it would be a different story. But look at the facilities and the fields Beaumont football kids practice on every day. Some of the worst in the entire state. We got 2A and 3A schools with better and nicer stuff than the 2 biggest schools in SETX. That's what is sad and pathetic.

Whether its a basketball, tennis ping pong, or whatever sport city it is, it still takes a lot of commitment from families to help train the kids to their craft. I dont know about yall but i go to the games and look at the games from a coaching aspect and player aspect. You say there isnt talent when there is. These same kids can go to 5A, 4A, 3A, TAPPS and win games. They have colleges looking at a few kids off that team so i cant say there isnt talent. Especially when you have district leading players returning or "highly recruited" players on the team or that was removed from the team. You can only ask your defense for so much... I saw something on facebook where the conversation was asked who could west brook beat in the area.. And i think every team in the area. Then the statements were made that silsbee, pa, wos, png could compete in 21-6A. MAN PLEASE! MASSACRES every friday night. 21-6A along with 6A in general is bigger and faster more depth than SE TX. You give any team WB schedule and they'll be 0-3 right now as well.

  5. This was funny to read.. i understand what Izzy is saying about the scheduling and resources in BISD. To me, if you want to get better your non district should be scheduled with some stiff competition that is going to prepare you for your district. West Brook Non district schedule is pretty decent with lamar, manvel and deer park. BU schedule against those teams idk.  Watching WB games and film tells me that they can make the playoffs in that 4th spot and that they need to be in 5A due to the size of their roster. But the schools in setx doesnt have the tools and facilities like the schools in houston and the greater houston area. We truly are behind in that category. They are doing the best they can with what they have. I think one school is truly needed for BMT if they want to compete in 6A.

I think West brook if they were 5A would beat PA (in a super close one) and PNG. Now BU i dont know because i havent watched film on them.

Originally, I would’ve said Suggs for Central (and I can understand why you say Suggs), but he was severely lackluster when he coached at Ozen.

yea he didnt have the same talent at ozen as the years of the past. And they werent the same caliber of kids as the central days nor ozen days. Ozen had some players come through there. Louis and Brooks had the best IMO. Stowers group and suggs group were very similar. oh how i miss those central days! nothing like a friday night at babe! lol

I’m not from Beaumont but live here

now and I’m not familiar with the cliques everyone is referring to. The current coach at Brook has legit credentials. I’m not sure coaching is the issue, but rather think the admin is. I also don’t think that Brook has a whole lot of talent right now. They’ve got a good QB but other than that are there any other D1 prospects?   It could just be that WB isn’t very good bc they are in an extremely tough district and they lack talent.

They have talent, but its walking the hallways of the school or playing basketball or has moved to another city. The QB is far from what they hype is. Good kid but don't believe the hype. Their defense is good. returned majority of their defense especially their secondary. They have the district leader in ints and tackles as a FS back along with the DE (very good just have to get more sacks) their other corners are lengthy and fast. And their front 7 is decent.

Offense took some major hits. Lost lineman, wr and rb which contributed majority of their td's. Qb has to do better. Has to make the right reads and receivers have to catch the ball. But most importantly, they have to handle their business off the field. Watch more film, take care of their bodies and stay out of trouble.

These seniors now as freshmen only lost to NS and i think atascocita (i believe). They were loaded as freshman but they lost alot of kids along the way. And the kids they lost were the difference makers. But hey it happens like that..

Don’t post much on the board anymore but I still come in from time to time. I moved (work related) but I always supported BISD sports and still do! Not going to lie I don’t remember Beaumont being this bad (Football wise) ever I don’t think. It was always at least one good team in the city. Now the season is still early and things could change but even last season it was something different.

When Stowers left Central after going 4 rounds in 2009 I knew something was wrong. Central was going to be loaded with talent by a JV and Freshman team plus the ones already on varsity. When I talked to him he didn’t go into detail but mentioned how he had seen the writing on the wall from the admin of BISD, and I think the same could have been said for Stump when he left after being very successful at Westbrook. BISD was not willing to invest into the athletics like other school districts and when it came to Coaching hires, they always did the back door hiring the “friends” instead of the best candidates.  Lord knows I loved Coach Andrew Washington but I think we all knew that was a comfort hire.  Central won those games off talent, and when they played a better coached team it was never close. Westbrook with the talent they had starting in 2007 should have always been a powerhouse specially in this area

Talent will never be an issue in Beaumont, don’t believe look at how many players are in the NFL just based on the last 10 years from Beaumont. It’s now on the Admin, Coaches and Parents. We need to invest in these kids.  BISD Admin is more worried about doing things the cost efficient way, hiring coaches and building facilities, while letting great coaches leave. There is no way WB off a state championship game appearance should lose their HC to LCM (No offense). Parents are also imo a Huge factor in all this, (another story for another day).

so in all it doesn’t matter if BISD had 1 HS or 5 if things don’t start getting better at the top and working it’s way down you will never see the success. There could be Beaumont HS and still be mediocre because we have an incompetent coach, sub par facilities, plus everything else that makes a successful program.  That Athletic period must have changed within the last few years, in 2011 when my nephew was there he always talked about the athletic period. Smh Just hope a few kids get seen and get out individually. Sad to say

Go back when David Suggs was HC and the change he made there after Dixon. In two years changed that program around where they went to the playoffs twice with decent records and his last year made it to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. He left after that season. And from there it started changing around that campus. Stowers had some of coach jackson kids which was some good players.

These are a different breed of kids, coaching, recruiting etc. However, i do believe that BU and WB would do great in 5A. With the athletic numbers for WB is screaming 5A. And after watching this film of this game, WB has alot of work to do offensively and defensively. Moreso offensively. They will get better as the season goes on and i have them to make the playoffs but it all depends on how the play that last game with King. I think they win in some tough games

No disrespect to PNG but win or lose scheduling 5A’s don’t get you ready to play the big dogs in 21-6A

Thats what i've been saying as well or even scrimmaging 5A schools. Gotta scrimmage some stiff competition and play stiff non district schools in order to compete in the district. you have 4 games that are tough. maybe 5 because of rivalry week for bmt schools. I don't understand the logic behind it.

Only way BISD has a chance compete in football is if they go to one school & adopt everything I’m going to state below:

    Coaching Purge:

Schematically Beaumont is so far behind the curve when it comes to the things they’re teaching those kids on the field. And this is because 90% of the coaching staffs at both schools haven’t coached anywhere outside of Beaumont. So most have no clue what a good offensive/defensive scheme is & couldn’t get on the board & explain why they run it.

    Admin Purge:

It takes more than coaching to win & have a successful football program, look at any successful program across the state & you’ll notice they all have one thing in common. TALENT & an ADMIN who’s built a foundation for their athletic programs to be successful (specifically football). Gotta have true feeder schools, HC has gotta be able to hire his middle school coaches, 90 min athletic periods, coaches not teaching tested subjects etc etc

    Facilities:

Get this every school in 21-6A will have indoor facilities in the next couple years EXCEPT BISD. Humble ISD AD just granted indoors for every school in Humble as his parting gift & NS is waiting on the bond to pass to get theirs. Meanwhile BISD schools are still practicing on old grass fields & working out in outdated weight rooms. Smh

Until BISD does all of the things I named plus more Beaumont don’t have a chance to be successful in football whether they’re playing 5A or 6A!

    Absolutely true!

  11. I've always said that wb and bu should be 5a. If both schools were we'd be in the playoffs every year. One or the other. Brook has some talented kids still there. Coaching has to get better. The kids have to get better. The community has to get better. whether they have one school or three schools, the kids and parents have to step up and do better. Kids getting kicked off teams, smoking weed and vaping, parents knowing about it and cant control them. It's alot that makes a successful program and its not just at the 50 yard line.

  12. It's a combination of both. Kids are leaving the programs that were studs. If that 2024 freshman class would've stayed together, they would be able to compete in this district. They had the talent and competed well in the district I think they only lost 2 district games and that was due to players being hurt and one moved up to varsity.  Then you have kids getting kicked off the team because of bad attitudes or smoking weed and vaping. Its other factors besides coaching. Yes, the OC need to do better with play calling. He had one successful drive last night with play calling and it resulted in a TD.  Also, the kids have to stop getting crazy penalties. Now to their defense the officiating was horrible (beginning of the year jitters i get it) however, the kids have to execute the play. You cant expect your defense to hold drives and the offense has you right back on the field in less than a min or two. Its a lot going on at Westbrook and the score doesn't tell the whole picture. They don't tackle at practice and film sessions are nonexistent.
