I think Bird was the best shooter and player in college and pros. As a player, Magic is right there, but Bird was the better shooter. Just because Magic beat Bird for the national title doesn't mean he is a better shooter. JJ Reddick is the best all time 3 point shooter. I think Lamar's Mike Oliver scored the most points in the nation one year. Not sure where he ranks on the career points list

Guess I'm old school, but the player should have to honor his commitment for the duration of the scholarship. After all, in theory, isn't that what the agreement is? The University will "GIVE" the player an education with all the trimmings if he will play his sport for the school? No, I'm not moody, this is the way I feel. You got me dead to rights, I have no plan "B". However, this does not exclude me from disagreeing with plan "A". Htexan and Sports, I know where you are coming from and I feel something has to be done too, but I still think there are ways to find the source of the drugs and cut them off as a better deterrent than invading the rights of innocent kids. I know this is not something you want to hear, but it is the way I feel. I'm not just being argumentative. This is my last post on the subject. You know my views. I'll end it by saying going after the user to solve the drug problems is like car-pooling to bring down gas prices. It may help a little, but the price still goes up.

Seriously, send them to parenting school and maybe they can pass some stupid "test" the government has dreamed up to deem them fit to be parents. It's nice to see you have no suggestions of your own. Must be a "yes" man. Just discredit my opinion and leave it at that. Just because I don't agree with you, then I must be wrong. Do you have kids? If not, then sit down. To stop the drug problem, you have to start at the top. Where are these kids getting the drugs? Ahhh, too much money to be made on both sides of that equation, but it's a start. After the kid is kicked off the team, are we implementing a counseling program at school (another parenting responsibility dumped in someone else's lap)? How isolated that kid must be. Yeah, I know, he shouldn't have done it, but still too negative for a teenager to have to deal with. Kids need positive stimuli. Are you really naive enough to think that catching a few kids will stop the drug problem? Please, come back and talk to me when you are armed with a better solution than random-testing drug-free kids.

This is what I love about posting. Everyone intentionally misunderstands your point, takes it and makes stupid comparisons in order to discredit your opinion. You people are confusing good people with good parenting. Good people's kids do drugs, but if the parents were closer to their kids and, if they thought them suspicious, tested them themselves, instead of having the school district wipe their tail ends for them, then we might not be having this discussion. The first step towards good parenting is to get past the denial stage. Let's say that some kids are caught. What do we do? Kick them off the team? That ought to show them. Have you provided them with any recourse except to deprive them of playing sports? Hey, go pat yourself on the back and go enjoy your football or basketball game knowing that all players are clean. Did you really do anything to stop the drug problem? Nope.....here's your sign. To the people who like to make the apples to oranges comparisons, most serial killers were abused kids, either mentally or sexually by their parents, and/or were outcasts their whole lives. tvc, i don't have a solution to the problem of deadbeat parents. It's a shame that some kids grow up without parental guidance and have to rely on the teachers to steer the way. Even a product of good parenting, such as myself, has gone back and thanked a previous teacher for showing them the attention they needed during the trying time of adolescence. But when it comes time to thank the ones responsible for who I am, my parents get all the credit. If I think my kid is on drugs, I will test him myself. There are some kids who will surprise their parents with a positive test, but for the most part, parents already have their suspicions but don't follow through for fear of pushing their kids away. It's so much easier to lay the responsibilty elsewhere, then act concerned. I think it is a travesty of justice to subject innocent kids to what I consider a demoralizing test, for the sole purpose of evening the playing field for sporting events and other extracurricular activties..... how shallow we have become. If I thought for one second that testing "users" would somehow curtail the drug problems of this country, then maybe I could redirect my views. What we have here is a flag toting public under the guise of stopping the drug problem. What a farce. That's akin to saying arrest all the crack users and the dealing will stop....not. Let's keep showing our kids how suspicious we are of them being potential criminals, and laying it off on the schools. What a positive effect for authority this must have on their impressionable minds.

My son plays sports and is not on steroids. I say leave him alone. What gives anyone the right to test him? This is all brought on by deadbeat parents who are making a feeble attempt to shirk some more of their responsibilities. Let's make the school districts pick up our kids, babysit them for 8 hours a day, teach them how to read, write, and do arithmetic, counsel them, discipline them for us, coach them, teach them how to become responsible citizens, teach them about sex, oh yeah, and while you are at it, drug test the little imps for us, and then bring them home to us parents who have nothing else to do with them for the rest of their lives. Great attitude BCB.....so true. I read in today's PA News that Todd Dodge is looking to SETEX for recruiting some players for his North Texas team. One of the first players he asked for tape on is Micah Mosley. UNT may not be big DI, but to have Dodge interested in you is an honor in itself. Anyone who might disagree with that statement knows nothing about Todd Dodge or HS football. I couldn't care less who is better. They were both fun to watch and both were winners.

Mosley/Nederland/2400+ yards rushing....missed one game and also played hurt....team leader.
