I guess all of the “Bobcat Ball” in the off season didn’t translate to playoff success…

While I agree, that sucks for both teams I can understand why they canceled. There are more important things going on right now in Jasper and Newton County than HS Football.

It must be tough to be a back to back state champion and have to play a "perfect" game every week to keep the "fans" happy. Bottom line, a WIN is a WIN and the Mustangs are still playing in December. I completely agree that the 2017 Mustangs don't resemble the 2016 Mustangs, but they're still finding a way to get the W week after week. Have any of you critics noticed how many of these guys are 2 way players this season compared to last? WOS does not have the depth they did in the past, but they're doing a great job with what they have! To add to that, how many of these guys were even starters last year? You guys say the play book is too watered down or they won't open it up....I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume the Mustangs did not game plan for the Sophomore to be at QB all week long, but he did a great job when he got in there. Also, looked to me in the second half like the Mustangs slowed the game down to keep things from getting messy. One player took a punch to the groin, another had his helmet ripped off and a third mustang had another player take a swing at him. I could be wrong, but it looked like the Mustangs were getting 4-5 yards every run towards the end of the game. Why would you get away from something that's working? Protect the lead and your players. Everyone wants to critique and point fingers at the coaches, but I doubt they would trade jobs with them!

I'm close friends with Westbrook and he told me Coach Thompson DID contact him about going back, and appreciated the offer, but he was going to stay at Jasper.

They played 2 5A, 3 4A-1 and 1 3A-2 teams going 5-1 against those teams. Their opponents combined records was 120-81, and they outscored their opponents 699-140.

What's sad is that in 4A-II Region 3, which is composed of Districts 9-12, only 3 teams will not be "playoff" teams. It would be different if every district had 8+ teams and they took the top 4, but all of these districts were originally divided into 5 team districts. Guess it's true what they say, money makes the world go round...

Bad things happen to good people and good people can make some terrible mistakes.  Two good people...a mom and a six year old little girl were killed by a man that an instant before striking, killing and leaving the scene, was conciderered by many to be a great guy...a good man that made a terrible error in judgement. Two lives have been cut short unnecessarily: a mother who will never feel her child in an earthly manner and a little girl who will never be able to one day, possibly, see her own little girl; another life horribly damaged and may never recover emotionally or spiritually and many many other lives forever changed. I have seen first hand, as a father, the guilt a person feels when someone has died by their hands or actions...it is intense and sad and in this case it was not this persons fault. I can't imagine the hell this man is living through at this time...if it was me I would want to die! I bet this man would give his own life at this point if he could change his actions...JMO...I am not taking up for him because a mom and a sweet little baby are gone from this world to be with our Lord but no amount of hate or blame can or will bring them back. I am so so sorry to all the families involved and you have my prayers that God brings not just peace but also strength. God bless!

The good thing is you don't have to win the DC to make a playoff run!!!!

The lowest ERA in the HISTORY of baseball was 0.86. That is less than 1 run allowed per game! He still finished 6-6 for the season.

- I thought it was understood that, "WOS is very beatable"              ....they're record was 7-2 going into the HJ game.
- "did not impress me one bit" and "your line on both sides of the ball was impressive"             ....i'm confused
- "This is high school football"        .....Exactly. Why the heck is this game such a big deal that it needs 800 threads? 
 
Bottom line, both teams are solid and will be in the play offs. HOPEfully they will meet up in the 4th round!

For such an unimpressive team we sure did beat y'all by 3 touchdowns. Good luck to HJ. They'll need it.
