Coach Saveat has called even the new Ozen  coach Micheal Thomas has called to get the game for Dec.12. Ball is in Siglers court. Take the date quit making excuses about who won't play you. It's just basketball ,I know who you are running from and that's PA Memorial they tried to play the game at the hoopsgiving and your coach turned it down . No matter they will see you in Cypress same side can't run. I'm just living though I know how Silsbee fans gets lol. I just wanna see some go basketball being I won't have anything to do with my time .  :)

Really running from them for what my understanding it was Yates never PAM and that's the team Ozen should be worried about because the STATE CHAMPS AINT WORRIED ABOUT OZEN OR PAM!!!!

Jalen Sneed,Landyn Tyler,Kevin Dotson, and probably some more I can't  think of. These reporters have to do a better job of covering basketball in our area.

I believe it's a good article I don't think he was saying that this is the best players in area. I believe he was giving names to watch and you will always leave someone out it's a matter of opinion. Then you get into who do you remove and all that stuff because if you look at 1-10 they don't move so it's just a matter of opinion. I would love for someone to be ranked ahead of me and had a chance to play them then use that fuel.

Definitely and I look for a breakout season out of Tyler he will have a bigger role this year. Plays good defense and solid offensively just had to wait his time out. If the kids accept the roles the coaches give them they will be find. I think that was a major reason We won last year when you have senior leadership like we had and they accepted the roles the coaches given them. It's tough to let underclassmen run the team and think with having Adams,McCain the year before and then you had Bush this year that's three underclassmen getting the attention. My hat goes off to the seniors cause they didn't hold them kids back they walked with them and said let's GO win it that's big time senior leadership IMO.

That's weird... I was in the visitor's stands at Silsbee vs. WOS back earlier this this fall when somebody wearing a maroon "Jones's Mom" T-shirt was trying to fight the whole crowd from Silsbee.  That's not one of my usual made-up stories, it really happened.

Like I said... it's amazing how some schools manage to get in fights, through no fault of their own, with every single team they face.  It's about coaching, parents, and discipline.... or lack thereof.

We've had our share of problems in BC.... Players getting ejected for punching people, brawling with Orangefield at the last ever Bayou Bowl, etc...  I hope that the teams we face are noticing that there's been a not-so-subtle change in culture on the bayou.  It starts at the top.

FWIW, I think the new Silsbee football coach has his team heading in the right direction as well.  He's taking a hard line against players that can't control themselves, and it will show up.  Now it's up to the rest of the ISD to get with the program.

Same team that a player made racial comments I believe that's way bigger then fighting into today's society

Really That's why the football team had a fight and no one seems to talk about that it's only basketball and punches was thrown then

My 2 cents? Find a coach who cares about the kids and works with the kids on and off the court. Do not fall for the hype of the "big name" organizations. Most of the coaches out here want to use your son/daughter for wins and throw them away after their career is over if they are not successful!  It is really getting ridiculous these days. It is all about hype and a status instead of kids getting better and staying loyal. IF A PLAYER IS GOOD ENOUGH, THEY WILL FIND YOU. No matter what team you are on, no matter what shoes you have on, no matter where you are from. Colleges will always talk to the high school coaches anyways....

You have some good points but a lot of times the colleges see you on the big circuit that's how they know what school you go to. Then they follow you so my personal opinion being on the NIKE, Adidas, UnderArmour circuit does have plus. Beats going to lil no name tournaments in Houston all the time. I think smaller AAU organizations just need to realize sometimes a player out grows there organization and shouldn't be bitter about it when a kid leaves by the way the kid doesn't make the decision the parents do. And as a parent my loyalty would be to my kid not the AAU coach or organization that's butt hurt about a parent moving his kid and this is not a knock on you SIR it's just my personal opinion

I saw Damien Bush, young Bush's dad, play for Silsbee in 95.   When and how he got to town I don't know.  I love my hometown of Silsbee, but I've been living in H Town for a minute, so I ain't up on the daily details.  But if young Bush's dad was in Silsbee in 95, shoot homeboy is from Silsbee.  People in small country towns have long memories though.  I don't remember Willie Jones II at all.  I think someone said he played on the same team as Bush Sr.

That's how that thing goes.  Silsbee & other small towns have been feeding dna, players etc., to Beaumont, Houston, and even Dallas Austin, and San Antonio for many years.  Have all the players in WOS been born & raised in the city limits?  I doubt it., but that's 'nother whole Oprah Winfrey special.  No  I am not implying someone is cheating.  Moving around to a certain extent is basic human nature.

Braelon has lived in silsbee all his life from my understanding he only went to private school at Legacy for junior high so he wasn't a move in.

I don't know who the backup is.  I'm assuming that when the Baylor commit was suspended that A) he was a starter. and B someone is now playing in the game instead of him.  Unless they are running 4 on 5.  Which...I doubt they are.  So whoever was on the bench when the Baylor commit was on the floor that in now on the floor...was the backup.   I don't know these kids...you tell me.

Silsbee is just deep it's 10 kids that could have a gripe of being starters so  I will end this convo saying Devon MCCain is the best player silsbee had on team Adams and Bush can hold there own and they all played good with one another

No offense to you, the kid, the team, or anyone...but you're basing results on what they have done without him and what his backup has done without him against teams that aren't very good.  What will happen when/if they see a team that gives them a game is yet to be determined.  Saying a team is pretty much the same team without their best player is just not true.

I know this is high school...and circumstances are a lot different.  But I like to use the Miami Heat as an example for a situation somewhat similar to this.  They went from NBA finals (multiple times) to not even making the playoffs in 1 year's time just by losing their best player.  Same coach...still had D Wade and Bosh (NBA All Stars).  Take 1 person out of the lineup and they go from best in the East to 9th or worse in the East.

Who is the backup if you're talking about Bush he has been starting since district I surely don't consider him the backup when he was playing the one and MCCain the two so......

I don't think silsbee lost a beat when Devon was taken out. In my honest opinion i think it made them stronger. Yeah Devon is taller, and will get to the basket easier, but Bush is not far behind him. Bush gets to the hole and WILL finish. He also brings something to the table that Devon don't, he'll pull the 3 and will make it. Seeing him play us that 2nd time really opened my eyes on him. The kid really is something special.

anytime you lose your best player you lose something don't get me wrong Bush is special he is a bad young bull. I agree with you that the team has got closer and they are playing for 3 but just like in state championship game last year. when Devon went out the team rallied all the way back and tied game then had two possessions and couldn't score I believe with Devon out there he woulda got you a bucket whether he scored or assisted because he demands so much attention. Along the lines of you look at Bush in the games the moment not to big for him and he is doing a great job and one of his teammates say he the first in gym and last to leave so hard work does pay off.
