I’ve seen both of these teams play. Should be a good matchup. Hearne is athletic, but Shelbyville is the better team. 

I just want to say, Jayce Guillory was the MVP for EC this weekend. That kid took control of both games for EC, and when his team needed a bucket he went and got it. Controlled the rock with authority, and led this team. He had 20pt and 13 rebounds last night. Probably had around 15 points today. He was the best player on the floor both games!

Watched pretty much that same bunch play as Sophs & Juniors.  Didn’t take a basketball expert to figure out they’d be awesome as Seniors.

East Chambers and Silsbee advance to state today!!! Good luck to both teams!

Newton was playing very well halfway thru district play with a chance to take 1st place but a few injuries and team play fell off. We slipped into the playoffs and take on the Bucs first round. Going to be a tough battle for the Eagles. East Chambers has been playing with a purpose all year. Good luck to both. Go Eagles!

Someone should call the law on the basket ball team from EC.  Those boys were more like arsonist’s setting the place on fire. After the law, someone needs to call the fire department so they can go put the fire out in Kountze!

The Bucs are fun to watch and have consistently maintained a level of intensity through out their games.  In every game, the Bucs work on various offensive and defensive looks while seeking to refine their skills.  Sutherland successfuly and consistantly have matched player skills with his methodical approach to identified unique conditions inside each game.  Sutherland’s choice of offense and defense has regularly proven to be spot on contributing to confidence building in his players.

I see all the Ney sayers are awake,  Oh Well,  EC has been getting better each week,  when they played crockett they were too loose, well, it was a convincing win.  Then they played West, also were too loose and also was a convincing win.  Cameron Yoe will be no different.  Especially with all our youth playing.    i can see that the ney sayers all want Yoe to win.  Well, TOO BAD..    Even if EC wins by one point it is a win.  There will be a win by EC.  Crockett had a good team , and so did West.   And I am sure Cameron Yoe has a good team.  And will score ,  although EC has a better team and will score more.   EC by 10.

While I agree EC could've found a tougher opponent, to simply identify Broaddus as a "lower class that didn't win their district" is slightly misleading.  Broaddus is ranked #17 in the state in 2A, and their two district losses were to Pineywoods, who is ranked #6. Obviously not comparable to EC, but still a decent team.  And Jasper was beaten by Evadale who is not ranked (but did win district).  I'd bet Coach Sutherland had a particular reason to play Broaddus, but regardless I wouldn't second guess him.

Hasn’t EC played and beat Jasper 3 times this season?  I’m not sure Jasper wants to play EC again,  The outcome has been well established.  Come join the excitement at EC and enjoy the playoffs with a team that shows real promise.  If not EC, then get behind a team you believe has a chance of winning and support them with all you have got.
