  1. Kountze AD has like 6 assistants from what I counted a while back. That's unheard of, in 3a Football

EC has 14 coaches and 10-11 coaches on the sidelines. Who's going to win and who's going to get embarrassed?

I'll take the mass coaching unit for 500, Alex.

UP, OS, MH...you guys are right I just wish more can understand these things...Silsbee has figured it out...upgrading facilities and academically has performed very well according to the last report I saw...in addition they have managed develop a nice fine arts program with multiple opportunities in other extra curricular activities. But back to discussion at hand and the question posed by  Scat...is Jouberts job in question? My answer is not at this point, but folks are a bit restless from what I here and if basketball is not the hit he needs it to be...well the heat will ratchet up. Look Coach Joub has a lot of support, enough that one bad season or even two, he can weather the storm but with everything that is in play at Kountze right now the speculative trend does not look promising for a big turn around. This is no impugning of anyone in Kountze because this calamity has been brewing for years and it's not going to get fixed without real leadership and a real coming together of the community. I mean scrub the lines drawn in the dirt out and everybody roll up their sleeves and jump in the deep end. Not just one group in the deep in while the vast majority wade in the safe shallow waters making waves so the risk takers drown because that's the past and look what has been accomplished...ZERO! I do not have the answers but there are much smarter Men and Women who do and I pray for the sake of the children that they step up and the rest us of hold them up so they can succeed.

  2. Man i hate to hear it...i guess the tax base there is pretty much non existent, and theres hardly any industry huh?

oh that is true...so finances is always gonna be an issue, but alot of schools state wide that are no better off some how make thier academics work, athletics shine and have nice success in the fine arts. UP to me it's all about leadership and community involvement.

  3. You would think kountze could be a great job for someone...do they not get about the best athletes in the state? why cant they get a program going there? is the basketball battle just too much to fight? I  will agree that it would be hard as hell to get assistant coaches there. Last i heard the highest paid assistant coaches there are making about 28k a year...hard to eat on that salary...but seriously what is keeping them from going at least 3-4 deep in playoffs? I dont know much about that area, but Id be willing to bet they get just as good if  not better players than EC, KIrbyville, etc

UP its a subject with multiple layers...IMO...Kountze had spent so many years trying keep the basketball athletes in the gym and off the football field...makes it hard to now shift gears. 2nd, Kountze has never had real major support of its Athletic program as a whole...in The years past the Band Program got more money per student than the Athletic program at least make it equal...I am not bashing the band because those kids work hard to produce a fine product that the community can be proud of, but the comparison has to be made to make the point. 3rd, Kountze does not have the financial capability to hire the number of Coaches needed to facilitate a deeply successful athletic program that allows for a top notch off season program and academically its in trouble. In the past 10 years Kountze has lost like 200 students district wide and with the recent peg list its lost more. I am not slinging mud or blaming anyone or group I am just stating fact and one opinion about the gym vs football field. I agree that Kountze has a really nice pipeline of Athletes and they could be a very successful program but a great deal is gonna have to change for that to come to fruition.

  4. Nobody is bragging about beating the Grayland"less" Kountze Lions last Friday. Don't use injury to judge the game either. I was at the Kountze vs. EC game two weeks ago. Grayland played 1 series at QB the first half. He also played 4 series at safety (mostly in the 2nd half). The only other starter that was out vs. Hardin was #6 (Freshman RB) that broke his arm the week of the EC game and credit to him for playing that game. That's a tough kid. However, the majority of the carries went to #29 in the EC game as well. The same kid that carried the ball against Hardin all night. He runs much harder than the #6 kid who will be great, but give him time. Now, for those who are comparing Kountze's performance vs. EC / Hardin - it was virtually the same personnel. Trust me, I was there and have notes/stats on the entire game. If you want to discredit the Hardin win vs. Kountze due to G not playing, then you totally missed the EC game and his relevance there.  EC is a great team with speed and discipline in all three phases. Hardin has a fabulous defense and a learning (coming together) offense. Late start due to Snell (starting QB) coming back just a couple weeks ago. No excuses. I just expect for a lot of people to be like "WHERE did this Hardin team come from" on Friday night. We were picked to finish last in the district, remember? LOL

Brotha I hope Hardin plays the gameboft He year and wins! I really do, but I just think it's highly unlikely and one should be realistic. As far as not having to play against Grayland Arnold...we will never know the details of that and Kountze was down six starters from what I was told...note I did not see the game so maybe everybody played minus Arnold and Adams. Not knocking Hardin I think I have always been supportive of you guys so don't take it to heart.

  5. I have given Hardin ataboy on the Kountze win...But playing EC will being nothing like Kountze. no excuses for Kountze because injuries are part of the game and folks have to step up...Kountze was a shell of itself in the Hardin game..major players out and then no depth. Hardin don't make comparisons because it's not...not even close.

  6. I have a question..because I truly do not know.  Playoff appearances aside...because most people know where I stand on that subject..

When is the last time Kountze finished better than 4th place in a football district?  Because it seems like there have been a lot of unrealistic expectations from the beginning anyway.  This seems to be very typical of every single football season Kountze has had in...well..ever.  But like I said, I don't know.  Yeah some years they may have HD and West Hardin or someone like that preseason and have a bit better record going in..but this seems normal to me.  Am I missing something?

no...agree...I will say Kountze has had some very good talent over the years but as a whole the football program remains completely under developed and now is emaciated caused by a lack of participation and a lack of a truly productive off-season.

  7. I'll take a guess at why. A few key injuries and the lack of discipline by the coaching staff?

Bottom line Capone...i want these young men to be successful and they deserve better than they are getting.  I hope for the kids sake that they pull a win out tonight or it's gonna be a long rest of the season. The one thing true and constant is the fact that Coach Joub is gonna have to re-tool his athletic program in the off season to get the younger kids ramped up so as not have even fewer numbers next year.

  8. Back to normal Friday night will be more like it.

I like your outlook, but do you really think that Newton can really boast the same talent level as the they have in the past few hundred years...LOL...you know what I am getting at...and maybe talent is the wrong word maybe its being seasoned and player maturity...nevertheless its a cycle in my book and that says nothing about the program, because Newton Football has my respect.

  9. Could-a-should-a-would-a! Coaches mentality, mistakes...ect! NONE of that is gone mean poo come Friday. PNG better be ready for a gut check by a bunch of dang football players that are playing to win...Lumberton will not be intimidated by PNG...not gonna wish-cast here because my personal desire is to see Lumberton win...the reality is that it's gonna be a big uphill fight and to me this game could go either way. I hope both teams stay injury free and leave it all on the gridiron.

  10. Hardin at home and Kountze winless...to me this game could go in almost any direction. I feel like Kountze has enough in the tank to get their first win this year, but if they stumble Hardin will quickly smell blood in the water and it could get dicey fast. This game is The Lions season in my opinion. Lions win they go home for Warren with some confidence and win that one as well, but if the Lions take one on the chin Friday night then it could be devastating to their season. Why?...It would give Warren and Woodville massive confidence and leave no room for Kountze to wiggle with anybody and get in the playoffs for a three-peat. If you are a real Football guy or gal...you gotta be real here and know that making big huge winning score predictions is not smart concidering the current record and certainly is not deserved. All this being said...my thought is Kountze wins by 12, but I'm cautious...
