John Blutarsky reacted to Peppermint Patty in Tomball Memorial @ Goose Creek Memorial
Yep. Freshman looked good in areas. Some depth at RB. Good size up front. Need to work harder on some blocking techniques.
GCM is going to have to work hard at the line of scrimmage on the varsity level. Very undersized. Only one player with a number in the 70's on the varsity roster.
Ready to see this team play.

Come on now, we all know that Crosby is going to win 22 5A too, it's their year. All hail the Mecca.

Without seeing all these teams play, but from what I could gather from reading all the post from each scrimmage over the last 2 weeks, here are my official playoff picks and seedlings.
1. PNG ( high caliber offense and improved defense)
2. Nederland ( Neumann and a decent running game)
3. GCM ( best athlete on the field in any 22 5A game, new defense with many retuning starters, 1 of the 2 best o lineman in the district, returning district leading rusher, and new QB transfer with a big accurate arm.
4. Ozen ( athletic and fast)
I had Central in the top 4 before the season started, but they must have lost a lot of kids to graduation. I still give them and Vidor an outside shot of getting in. I know the GCM pick won't be popular with all those that don't want to show any love to any team west of the Trinity, but we do play football out here, just ask Crosby.

That' s good, I was wondering if it was too late. Maybe we'll get realigned with the Mecca after all.

I'm sure the whole district would schedule them for HC if they could. I hope they get that program turned around soon.

Lee has Lumberton. GCM has Lee.

There are college d-lines that would look small lining up across from him. Whoever Is running the ball for GCM should benefit from the holes he creates.

John Blutarsky reacted to SFAEAGLES in 22-5A District Predictions 2015
I was able to watch the GCM inter squad scrimmage and thought they looked really good. I didn't think they lacked a whole lot of size on the D-line. And what they do lack, I think they will make up for with speed. I think they will hold their own in the district this year.

Saw some of the GCM practice this week and the offense is looking sharp. Looks like they have some surprises in store for the rest of the district. Stephen Adams looked strong running the ball. Kid's going to be a handful for most teams. The defense was really flying to the ball. My only concern was that I didn't see a lot of size on the d-line but all in all they look like they should be improved from last year. I'm feeling even more confident the Pat' s will earn themselves a playoff spot this year.

They sure do. They're named the Cougars after the 40 year old bar flys that habitated "The Stomp" back in the day. I was prayed upon a few times myself back then. Just like the football team, those ladies were big........and fast. ; )

John Blutarsky got a reaction from Alpha Wolf in 22-5A District Predictions 2015
I thik the Old Coach is getting a little senile. GCM has 14 returning starters and possibly the most athletic backfield in the district with 6' 4" 320 lbs #77 "Big Diesel" serving up pancakes and paving the road for them. The defense was very porous last year but with 8 returning starters they should at least improve some. No way they end up in last place unless they have injuries to numerous key players. They'll be in the running for a playoff spot this year.

Wow, so a three way tie for second place. Didn't see that happening, but to quote Ricky Bobbys daddy; "if you ain't first, your last!". Seriously though it just shows how close these four schools are.

That was only my second GCM game this year. The Patriots have great athletes but just like the Sterling game, their execution looks sloppy. Fumbled snaps, missed pitches, that's something that should have been cleaned up in practice by now. Plus the defensive line looks undersized. In a 3-4 you got to have some guys that can keep the linemen off the linebackers.
Also saw a couple of CE King coaches at the game last night.

Thanks. We'll do our best.
Good luck tonight to Coach Price and the CE King Panthers.
Your biggest decision at Crosby tomorrow will be on whether to call a proctologist or a general surgeon. It will all depend on how deep the foot goes.

John Blutarsky got a reaction from BlackShirts5 in Dayton Ponies 8th vs. Baytown Gentry
It was an exciting game, frustrating on our part but fun to watch. Here's hoping the the folks at the UIL take a geography lesson and put GCM and Lee in the same district as BH, Crosby, and Dayton in the next two years. As a parent of two future GCM Patriots I'd much rather play our neighbors where there are natural rivalries than drive to Beaumont every other weekend to play schools we don't know a whole lot about.

Dayton 33 Gentry 26. Congratulations to Dayton on a hard fought win. Three turnovers deep in Dayton territory killed us. Two with long returns deep into Mustang territory. We'll lick our wounds and come back next week to take out our frustrations on Cedar Bayou. Proud of you Mustangs! -
