Not that they need one..but what was the reason that HC was taken away from Coach Haynes? Wasn't the football team going in a positive direction?

And it really seems like this is something that one or more board/community members have had in the works all along. To me...that sounds an awful lot like a personal agenda by the board.

All of this is pretty irrelevant. This has been happening forever. When a team loses the coach is an idiot...when the team wins the coach is a genius. I'm not saying coaching doesn't matter because it does. But the ability to coach doesn't have near as much to do with it as the talent of the players on the team.

When Babin left Dville it could've been said that he is a spectacular coach and has built a winning tradition.... Or...it could be said that he had an exceptional group of players relative to the competition they played. If he would've stayed another year I guarantee they go from a 9 win season to a sub .500 season. I guarantee it. And why? Technically coaches get better year after year...and he would've had kids that were under his system for a full 2 years.. So why do I know they would've been bad? Well..the talent graduated and the competition got tougher. Dville would've been good those 2 years with most coaches. And they would've been bad this year with most coaches. And you know what...if alignment doesn't do Lumberton a huge favor they'll struggle under Babin as well.

If a coach truly is a better coach why don't the same coaches win any championship in any sport year after year? Shift of talent. That's why.

When he got to Deweyville he had a group of juniors that had been successful all the way thru school. After his 2nd year he did what any sensible coach would've done. Leave a hero. If he had stayed probly would've had a similar season that Coach Dale did this season. He knew the talent graduated.

It's a shame he was so adamant on being a head coach in the area. Honestly he could have had a really good job after that 2nd yr at Dville.

Now it's gonna take another 3 or 4 seasons to get 9 wins. If they keep him that long.

And if he does that then he won't last. And if he does not do that...but loses...he won't last long. I really see a no win situation here. Unless they win immediately and keep winning. Even that may not be enough with parents like that.

The coaching profession is not different than any other.  Everyone is looking for the next best opportunity. Nobody likes to settle with where they are now if there is an opportunity to get a better job or a pay raise / promotion.

Actually no.  I was a college athlete myself so I didn't do much stat keeping.

I do have access to this incredible new thing tho.  It's called internet. I think I spelled that right.  Anyway...apparently you can use this thing called internet to find any information you want in a matter of seconds.  It's crazy.  You can even use your phone. You should google it. Oh wait...you must not know about internet. Tell you what.. give me your emai.. oh dang it. Just ask somebody about it.  It's pretty incredible.

Well.. there have been the same number of 1st round drafts in the SEC in the last 3 years as the Southland has had since 1980. So... again. I think there's a difference.

No you're right he's not done yet. But no difference between Sam Houston and Ole Miss? Well...being how an SEC team won the National Championship last year.. and there are 2 SEC schools in the top 5...and 10 SEC schools in the top 60...with 0 Southland schools..  I think there is a difference.  A pretty significant difference.

There is a reason the same schools are successful every year. It is not a fluke. By successful I mean on a state level...not a local level. Let's look at schools that are recent powerhouses. Allen, Desoto, Aledo, Carthage, Gilmer, Tatum, Mart, Teneha, East Bernard, Brock.

These schools are successful because of the amount of emphasis they are putting on athletics. State of the art facilities..gym, fields, track, weight room, library, ag shop, ...school in general. Plus they have high salaries for their coaches/teachers, which attracts the best in the state in that profession. So kids are learning more than anywhere else in the state. Plus they have more coaches than most schools...meaning players are getting more individual attention.

Those are important details. Just go to one of those schools...you'll see immediately what I'm talking about. It takes money and commitment. Don't get me wrong...I know that's an issue down here. Population growth is stagnant. New business and industry is slow..making it hard on school budgets. But it seems like schools aren't even trying. There is a sense of satisfaction with being the "best in the area". That's a joke. Setx hasn't won a state championship in what..10 years in any sport. Um...that's a problem. Especially since there is so much athleticism down here. Probably as many or more big time D1 commits in the smaller schools than anywhere. And no titles? Hmm. Most of the time a SeTx school loses in the playoffs as soon as they meet a team from out of the area. Exception would be WOS and Newton this year...who both lost to overall less talented teams in the finals. Is that ok? Small school teams with SEC commits in football should not lose.

I guess the way of thinking is "things have always been like this and it's good enough"..

Every school board in this are need to take a field trip to any school in the Franklin/Teague district. You talking schools with 1/3 of Barbers Hill student body with nicer facilities. Nicer. And people here think Hardin has a nice field. That's a joke.

Hard to judge talent based on what they do in younger years. Very well may be a solid 8th grade group...relative to other 8th grade groups. The problem is that when they get to high school they aren't playing other kids just in their respective grade. They're playing against the combination of 4 different grades. Plus...there is so much that changes. District alignments, strength development (of them and their opponents), move ins, coaching changes....

That's what gets people in trouble. "Well we were so good in JH I don't know what happened"

    Um...a lot of things happened.

Hopefully it works out. Good luck.

I didn't say anything negative about the kid. Yall were the ones talking him up so high. "getting looks from colleges already" I believe is how it went. "Both teams 4-0 can't way for the matchup".

That was from you guys. I think it's fantastic this kid and also the fans got a little taste of reality.

Big Sandy is good in this district...I bet they won't get past round 3.

By the way...I expected you to get butt hurt and start name calling before I typed it. Typical.

"I beg to differ gator 25. I was just wondering who they had in mind, because I am a fan i would rather Bryce Fregia not play QB he has an oppurtunity for a baseball scholarship, but he will be supported in whatever role he has along with the rest of the team."

From the football thread about HD quarterback.

And you're right...I miss read. Frauenberger is the one "getting looks already". Fregia has the "opportunity for a baseball scholarship".

Hey...there is so much talent out there in HD it's easy to get them mess up. Whatever...all that matters is that a pitcher that's getting a scholly isn't giving up 30 runs to a 2A team. Even as a freshmen.
