If I have a high level D1 skill kid at a school that size...he's touching the football every single play. Only one way to guarantee that...snap it to him.

If you are referring that you served our country, then I am forever grateful and immensely appreciative.  My shot was directed toward a seemingly entitlement attitude.  Which is how this thread seems to me...." I DESERVE FOR THE COACH TO HELP ME".. If that's not what you mean...it's not what you mean.  But this entire thread does seem a little like that.

    And

Coaches do not intentionally trash a player.  If a coach tells a recruiter that a certain kid is lazy, has low character, misses practice, makes poor grades, or anything else that the coach thinks might hold them back as a college player then I commend them for that.  People (especially kids/young adults) need to hear honesty.  Coaches are of the few people I expect to tell kids things that other people wont.  That's how it works.  "But my mommy said I'm good"... well so what.

Besides...I thought we were talking about kids that need help getting recognition...  If a college coach is asking questions about a kid then the kid didn't need help.  Bottom line...give the coach a reason to promote your talents/work ethic.  Then if it doesn't work then you may not have been good enough.  And that's ok.

Oh and the movie reference...Varsity Blues...really? Rudy was based on events that actually happened.  Is it also true that in West Texas you can steal cop cars and nothing will happen if you're on the football team?...give me a break.

Here's a movie reference for you.  Friday Night Lights.  Let's say I'm the coach and a school asks me about Boobie Miles.  Here's what I'm saying:  He's a tremendous football player.  Super fast, electric with the ball, a star in the making.  But, he refuses to work out, doesn't do school work, and doesn't feel as tho he has to outwork anyone.  Probably because he's the best player I have regardless.

Is that trashing a kid? Nope.  It's honestly.  Because if that happens in college..I don't want my name associated with any negative surprises.

You know what I've been thinking....I'm what's wrong with high school coaches? No...YOU sir is what's wrong with America. This whole thread is.

"What should a high school coach do for ME"... How about this. "What should I DO FOR ME?!"

Get in the weight room, get on the track, get off the couch this summer, get your grades up, stay out of trouble, stay long hours watching film, take criticism and fix it instead of cry about it....

This whole topic has officially pissed me off....what should someone else do for me...do it yourself!!!!! Do that and they'll help you I promise. Earn your help.

And guess what....even when all that happens...it still might not matter. Sometimes you're just not big enough, not strong enough, not fast enough, not smart enough,...NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

They only made 1 movie about kids like Rudy.... That's because that doesn't ever happen.

Really good post. It's refreshing to see someone (else) that believes some accountability should fall on the kid and parents.

Hardin needs a realignment. Big time. But that won't happen so let's see...

They need to get back to getting HD and WH on their preseason schedule to gain confidence. And the people of Hardin need to realize that it's not the coach's fault (most of the time) when THEY are bad, leave Stark completely alone, let him hire some coaches, and get a decent group of kids to come up together under the same program..

Do that and he'll make a difference. Not next year..or maybe the one after...but eventually.

Don't do it...and will be same song and dance.

I would normally agree with your statement...if this was something that happened maybe once or twice. If this was a one time occurrence I'd let it go for sure.

But every single time they throw out predictions about how successful one of the boys teams at HD is going to be...it turns out be not only wrong, but way wrong. And then when they get beat all they say is how unbelievably good the other team is. Inferring that that's the only possible way to beat the mighty Hull Daisetta Bobcats.

When the rediculous comments and predictions stop from HD posters...I'll leave them alone.

Speaking of...anyone heard how the "fastest relay team in the region" is doing? Or did?

I have a crush on making HD fans eat their words...but it's no secret.

It would all stop if you HD posters would stop talking HD up to something they're not. Being supportive is one thing...but some of you guys are delusional beyond belief. I'll admit it's gotten better...but still a long way to go.

Your buddy comes on here talking about how crazy good HD is at the beginning of every sport...then disappears by the end of the season. Just about the time HD's one true flaw is revealed...mediocrity.

I'm just here to remind you guys about those comments and how dumb they were. I know you remember all those things that were said when HD and Big Sandy both were going in undefeated.. You know.. District playoff hopes, college prospects, etc.. And you will never live down the 4 horsemen comment. Not while I have a user name on here. It's just too easy haha.

Well all of you guys are forgetting about Hull Daisetta and the 4 horsemen. That's definitely a team almost in the greater Houston area worth mentioning.

No but seriously...who cares. Call it what you want DFW is winning titles NOW. If it's because there are more single school districts then maybe DFW is smarter also.

You may be right...but...I don't think Art Briles is in the business of wasting scholarships on kids he doesn't think will contribute.  Do you know more about big school college football than Art Briles?  Because I don't think you do.

These AA schools may be developing a relationship in case the kid doesn't like it.  Or gets home sick..or grades..or whatever.  That's a good way to get a Baylor commit on your roster.  But I think the fact that he is committed to Baylor pretty says he very well might play big school college football.
