  1. This game reminded me of why I never watch high school games anymore. Congrats on the season Silsbee. Making it to the title game is a once in a lifetime accomplishment. I have to say tho..I don't think it was as much "comeback" as it was Lincoln letting it dwindle away. Started playing keep away with 12 minutes to go instead of continuing to exploit that defense. I could tell immediately that Silsbee didn't know what to do in a close or come from behind game. And I'm willing to bet that's the first man defense Silsbee has seen this year. Wasn't pretty. But again..very fine season. And I hope the Silsbee player that got injured has a speedy recovery.
  2. Yes my theory makes more sense if you have a really tough district. But what I'm saying is that if you have a district of cupcakes..pre-season schedule doesn't matter either way. A tough game week 3 has zero bearing on how you will perform week 12.
  3. First of all...why do you say La Marque's defense was better? Because they're athletic. Here is a good indicator...who held BS to fewer points? And even if it is...that was over 2 months ago. BS hasn't seen decent defense since December.
  4. Not doubting you. Then you went 2 months without having to do any of that. So... I mean, I know why you did it. But it didn't matter either way.
  5. Agree to disagree. Those kids were no longer conditioned to play competitive games by the time they saw the Gilmers and Celinas. 2 months of weak competition had washed it away.
  6. Pretty certain I said that too. But it is true in both cases. BS may not have played anyone all year that actually knows how to play defense. Hence the problems from behind the arc.
  7. Not giving kids false hope. You're giving your studs a chance to rest some, and your backups a chance to see the field. That will be more beneficial down the road than playing tough games in which nobody comes out and you may or may not lose. What message are you sending kids when you tell them that doing it a certain way is how to win...and then they lose? And I belive it's pretty relevant. Nick Saban knows that every single game they play in the SEC will be a dogfight so why schedule tough out of conference games. Take WOS as an example this year. They played Hamshire, Orangefield, Liberty, Hardin-Jefferson, then Scarborough, then 2 or 3 other joke of a playoff teams before they even got to some competition. You honestly think those pre-season games meant anything after going 2 months without having to do anything other than basically show up. Not knocking their accomplishment...just stating that I don't believe the pre-season would not have mattered one way or another. Other than the only opportunity all year to get a good game. And what if the opposite were true? A team in a tough district...Let's say they schedule all tough teams pre-season to "prepare" and then get blanked in district. What will you accomplish by going 1-9 on the year? Nothing but pissed off parents, disheartened kids, and a fired coach. My opinion is that it's better to build confidence. Nobody cares how "tough" your schedule is. Ultimately it's wins vs losses. The winningest coaches/teams do not have an asterisk beside their records if they played weak opponents.
  8. The University of Alabama (National Champions) had non-conference games with Middle Tennessee State, Louisiana-Monroe, and Charleston Southern...this year. Wow. Stellar. You know more than Nick Saban about scheduling games? If so then I can guarantee that you are not being paid enough.
  9. Preseason matchups don't really matter anyway. Whatever "preparation" you think you got from preseason is all washed away because of district anyhow. In my opinion, tough preseason schedules don't do anything but jeopardize health and/or losing kids mentally. Might as well schedule teams you can beat. Everyone is excited about the wins, everyone gets some field experience, and risk of injury goes down. I do belive they need to fill a whole schedule...but other than that...
  10. I would hope that most teams have the aspiration of winning a state title. I think he's referring to the fact that you guys were so confident that it was sewed up last year.
  11. The players and fans don't get to make the schedule. Ask the coaches.
  12. Won't get "hammered on this" by me. I've said this exact thing since the day it was brought up. Except this is why they would have trouble playing at ANY level of college ball.
  13. My thoughts exactly...of course you see how one sided the foul call was...and BS fans will make sure you know. But...when you shoot 30 3pters you aren't going to get a foul call. smh.
  14. 3's are a little harder to hit when a team knows how to play defense and rebound.
  15. I think the issue here is BS is not used to exerting themselves for this long. Not saying they won't win..just stating my opinion. Also...don't want to be the one to mention it. But Muenster was 13-2 in football this year. Maybe BS has a tough time with football kids that are GOOD at basketball. I know they kill schools with football but those kids aren't basketball players.
  16. That was a long time ago relative to a basketball season. They've been involved in a lot of blowouts since then.
  17. GOOD!! Tried to tell ya...just renew the contract the first time it's recommended and none of this happens. I hope this bites Navasota in the backside real hard.
  18. Surely you jest. Katy would get embarrassed by them or anyone else playing next level football. I don't know how many college football players Katy has...but I know how many Benedict College has. Every kid on the roster. Katy may have some kids committed D1 with some lower level commits in there too...but BC has a roster full of grown men that were literally studs on their high school teams...plus 3 or 4 years of getting bigger, stronger, and faster. I'll take a team FULL of 22 year old D2 and D3 kids over a team FULL of 16-17 year old kids with SOME D1 commits every day of the week.
  19. Katy would be lucky to get a first down on a D2 school. Katy's punter...if they have a punter...would sweat for the first time all season.
  20. Easy...tap the brakes bud. I agree, Katy was good this year....but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
  21. No it wasn't. I still want to know why the decision was tabled to another meeting...Especially if the decision was 7-0. It was stupid that it even escalated or was allowed to escalate to the point it went to. 7-0?! Just renew the contract the first time it's brought to the floor!
