As far as La Grange's defense, I think H-J will be able to move the ball. Orangefield struggled to move the ball, but H-J is a little more athletic and I think that will help. But, La Grange has an advantage having seen a similar offense this week.
 
It will be a good game in my opinion.

I saw Carthage last year and that team was better than this year's La Grange team. Combine that with the fact that I think that this year's WO-S team is better than last year's. So IF the two teams met, WO-S would have a good chance at winning.
 
On offense, La Grange is a one-trick pony in the sense that the run the ball. But that one trick is really really good and they have two great RBs that can do it. But if a team dares them to pass the ball and is athletic, which I think WO-S is, they can slow La Grange down enough.

I think their radio announcers are delusional also!  After the game one said Jasper "stole" their victory against Huffman, but that Chapel Hill earned theirs.  Huh!!  If some other team wins, it is an accident or luck.  If their team wins, it was a monumental victory because they have EAST TEXAS speed.
 
He said there was no way Huffman had seen the kind of speed that Chapel Hill has.  I feel that Jasper has pretty decent team speed, with at least three or four with outstanding speed.  Several teams in the district had speed.  I think it is pretty much a given that year after year that Jasper, Silsbee, and Cleveland will have pretty good speed.  Even last place Splendora had some speed; including a 100m state champion in track.

Crosby's defensive front is legit, I was impressed by them. They adjusted in the 2nd half and made it hard for Ozen to run and pass. For the Panthers to have a chance at winning, they had to get breaks and have Boyd throw like he did last week. Ozen got breaks, but the passing game definitely wasn't close to last week. Crosby's defense has some hitters too. They had some late penalties which isn't a good look, but it didn't overly affect them tonight. If they play FB Marshall with that cornerback who can neutralize Larkin, that will give Crosby's offense trouble.
 
All in all Crosby is good and was definitely the better team tonight, but they'll have issues next week. But Ozen fought and don't have anything to be ashamed of.

While it is utterly ridiculous that Scarborough makes the playoffs, I feel bad for those kids. Their numbers aren't that great and they go through crazy turnovers with coaches. It's almost an impossible job to deal with. I hope they do win a game sometime soon. I can't imagine all that losing and what it does to a kid.

Yes he is right BG I was talking about at the PREP rally. I am very proud to say that I am from The True SE Texas and last night I got to watch 3 very good running backs in the 2nd toughest District in the State of Texas. First watching my son goes without saying, I really love watching this kid play and I hope he gets the opportunity to do whatever it is that he wants to do in his life.
 
Next, Corey Dauphine is a joy to watch every time that he is on the field and his leadership showed the whole night as he pounded the ball and ran hard on every play last night nor, would he engage in any of the foolishness that took place on the field. See You on Saturdays young man!!! Class Act kid. Port Arthur you should be proud!!!
 
Then there is Kam Martin who is electric if he finds the A gap or the edge. It is your team next year. Go do your thang in the off-season and come back even stronger.
 And yall give Kenny Ray a break! That defense was full of underclassmen and could have used CJ Levine this year. Titans future is very bright!!! Also do not sleep on Kadon Harrison because I remember a kid named Jalen Hurts who started his sophomore year and wasn't as good as #8 but now who is one of the top 3 QB's in Texas. Kadon arm is strong and his football IQ can do nothing but increase from a year like this one. Ask Hurts from CV!!!

LC-M defeated a very game H-J squad 3-2 (25-19, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, 15-2). That was the first time the Lady Bears had lost a set since August 23 when they lost a tournament game to Needville.
 
The win clinches an undefeated district title as well as Vicki Castino's 500th-career victory.

Well Stephenville's QB just had surgery after he got hurt on Friday. So unless their backup QB is something special too... I mean they did lose to Lubbock Cooper as well. Doesn't seem like they're on another level right now

I will say this about the BE, I think they cover as well as anyone. They actually had two reporters at the MCM game. That does not happen in any other game.
 
As for them not mentioning the Bum Phillips Bowl trophy, I can understand somewhat on why they did not but I thought it could have been mentioned once or twice. This was the first year for the trophy and it honors one of the all time greats. For this year, it should be the in the forefront of this game.
 
Also, I have never, ever seen an article or column in the BE chastising, ridiculing or criticizing another local paper but it seems Mr. Bob West makes a habit of calling out other local media. I think that shows lack of professionalism.
