I respect your views, especially since you have a school-aged child. Sounds like you’ve got a good kid on your hands. I love hearing about good kids. Seems as though we tend to concentrate on the bad stuff too often. My son, an incoming senior, he is more important to me than life itself, as I’m sure your boy is to you too.  He was in a near fatal accident last year, almost 2 weeks before first football practice. It was a year and 8 days ago, as a matter of fact. I can still barely talk about it in front of people because my eyes start stinging, and I know the tears are right behind. After a torn PCL, head full of stitches, “new” used truck and a lot of prayer and thanks to God, I have to tell him he probably won’t get to play football at all that year. I’ve never seen him cry like he did that day. With tears streaming down his face, he grabbed me by the arm and literally pulled me outside. Both eyes black and swollen, bandage around his head, knee brace on and limping, he starts running 15 yard sprints out of a 3 point stance. He would stop, turn around, get in a stance, say “hit” and sprint off the “line” again.  He’s shouting at me as if I can’t see him, “See Dad, I can play. I can run. “Hit” off he goes again. He’s streaming tears and running and yelling at me all at the same time. He falls after 5 or 6 sprints from the knee injury. I picked him up and hugged him and told him to come inside. We made a decision to forgo surgery until at least after the season, and he missed all the scrimmages and most of the non-district games, but he actually played every district and playoff game. He had a decent season. And he’s got one more left. Ain’t no way I’m gonna tell my baby boy he can’t play after that. He is healthy and I feel like Covid is the least of his worries. Every morning when he leaves for work or summer workouts, the app on my phone tells me he’s just left the house. It scares the living she-it out of me. Especially since his wreck. But I still let him drive. I still let him live. And I’m not trying to sway you or anyone else into doing anything differently. I just had to explain that life is a risk. We take them every day...much bigger ones than dealing with this virus that most healthy people endure. I hope the very best for your son. I hope his senior year has all this silly crap in the rear view mirror. And I pray for everyone’s health.

No one is saying its fake news. However, I am saying .003% is not enough to stop the world over. There are a lot of things that kill at a higher rate than Covid. Are we going to stop driving cars? Don't you think it's weird NO ONE caught the flu this year, or at least you didn't hear anything about it? We should all be asking questions. Those who do not are the "ignorant" ones.

I don’t think it’s a political topic. Not for me anyway. It’s about a sporting event being cancelled due to CV-19. A cancellation that may spawn more cancellations of sporting events among other things. Actually very fitting for a site called SETXSPORTS, I think. And if we don’t get a handle on this issue, they may have to change the name of this site to “Remember SETXSPORTS?” .

I guess no one has listed one of the most obvious. PN-G & Big NED.
That depends, I guess on what criteria “best rivalries” is determined.

So it's not ok to get out for football...but protests that pack tons of people together isn't a problem? If we get a second round of the virus that's why.

You’re a silly boy... Let’s just shut everything down forever, right? My son started summer workouts yesterday morning. He’s one of the most important things in my life, and I would give my life to save his. No hesitation. You need to worry about your family and your kids and leave the parenting of my kids to me. Get your head out of the sand (and your butt) and learn the facts. Young healthy teen athletes have almost no chance of serious health issues or death from the China virus. Go spout your crap somewhere else. And leave my child out of your fear driven comments.

I haven't watched enough HS football to say where he should rank on this list, but I had the "pleasure" of attempting to block him in a scrimmage his senior / my junior year. He was a grown ass man and it was not a pleasant experience....lol

I just think Coldspring is playing their best basketball at the right time. The Central Heights team they just blew out was a bunch of bruisers who seemed to always manage to hang around in games. IMO, that was a very impressive win.

Ahh the race debate again... Well as me being an African-American myself the stuff you just alluded to does not even matter and why should you even care?  The best teams from each region made it wherever they are a predominantly black or white team so it should not matter.  Honestly I like to see an all white team make it to state because that should let you know that talent runs deeper than race but I will be rooting for Yates simply because I don't like Dallas area teams wherever it's basketball or other sports.

What is it with folks trying to apply race to dang near everything these days?
Conspiracy theory with the UIL on the pairings at state tourney??? RIDICULOUS!!!
UIL has done their pairings by win percentage for many, many years. Top two teams by win percentage get placed opposite of bracket then the other two teams are drawn/flipped for to see who plays who. Where is the conspiracy? It's completely a coincidence that two predominantly black schools are facing each other in semifinals. That's it.
What about the conspiracy theory that could be taken that the UIL, with these pairings, has guaranteed that a predominantly black school will be in the finals? What about that?
BTW, Stafford is a predominantly black school. Argyle is the only predominantly white school of these final four schools.
Conspiracy theory? Racially motivated decisions? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

I hear what you are saying but the fact still stands. It is against UIL policy to transfer for athletic reasons. If kids are recruiting kids, and they move because they want to play with their friends, then that is the basis of transferring for athletic purposes. That is what is being discussed. At least from my end.

I don't know what happened. I'm simply questioning the legitimacy of four outstanding basketball players transferring to one 4A school in the same year for academic reasons. Since doing so for athletic reasons would not be permitted. Is that not a valid question?

Interesting that you speak of area population growth.      At the same time that this growth has taken place, my understanding is that Yates enrollment has gone from 1150 to 850.    hmmmm
