I hope you're right, but I've seen them both play. I think HJ wins this by 40+. Lumberton is a really good team, but HJ is just on another level.

So, I watched the video of the link attached in LC-M's post. The man representing the NAACP specifically said "people" were saying racial slurs. He did not say officials. In a complaint based mostly on the way the game was officiated, one would have to think if the officials were the "people" throwing out racial slurs, this would have most certainly been mentioned.

So the basis is now bribery, not racism? This is getting ridiculous.
Even taking the wild rumor of a bribe as true, there would be no interesting lawsuit against TASO.  Vicarious liability, which is defined as an entity being liable for the acts of its agent, does not apply in cases of intentional act of the agent unless the entity required that action or it was reasonably foreseeable.  Taking a bribe, which is apparently the new allegation, is an intentional act.
The referee himself, if this ridiculous allegation is true, could be liable, but you would not reach the deep pockets of TASO.
And the NAACP can threaten all of the legal action it wants, it is just blowing smoke.  It has no standing to bring a suit in this case.  It can provide attorney's for the "injured" parties, it can be the driving force, but it can't be the filing party to this suit as it has no standing to do so.
I also find it telling that despite all of this, there is no report of either LBJ High School or Austin ISD making any contact with the UIL about this.
The only one I see being close to having legal action are the members of the officiating crew who have now had allegations of racism (despite the fact that at least one of the members of that "racist crew" was African American) and now bribery thrown at them, with what is out there right now, not much basis for it.  It doesn't reach it yet, but this is becoming dangerously close to turning into a defamation lawsuit.
Ultimately, the only effect that will come out of this is a chilling effect on anyone who wants to enter into officiating.  On top of verbal abuse and social media complaints, we have now seen officials become the victims of battery and now subject to civil and/or criminal allegations because someone did not like their calls.
Yeah, that makes me want to get out there for 50 bucks a game.

Yep. 2 years probation sends a loud and clear message (heavy on the sarcasm).  The school’s own district shutting down the season and giving up the playoff win sends an awesome message too and here’s what it is:
    Luke 23:41
“We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

That’s what one of the criminals being crucified with Jesus said to another criminal in reference to Jesus being punished.

Those kids (not the turd who committed the crime) got to learn that life isn’t fair. That’s about it. Oh yeah, and that they can’t always trust the people in charge to make good decisions. They’ll get to learn that one over and over.

Some of these comments are absolutely insane. This kid unfortunately committed a crime. He should be punished accordingly. However, no one else on the team should be punished for his actions. That's ridiculous. Those of you comparing his actions to a holding penalty are comparing apples and oranges. You're comparing breaking the law to a holding penalty. Not even close to the same thing. The school district caved to the fake angry mobs and keyboard warriors like a few of you on this thread.

I'll counter by saying the school officials that made the unnecessary decision are the real jackasses. They did not have to do what they did. It was done out of pure animosity, hatred, and a hunger for whatever power the school officials feel they gained by taking that action. The guy went to the parking lot for crying out loud.

Why? Please explain how watching a game alone from a parking lot, apparently with no one else around with the exception of school officials who followed the dad to harass him, makes the dad an idiot? He was not allowed entrance to the game, and went to the parking lot to watch. Wearing a mask in a parking lot is the equivalent to wearing a mask alone in your car.

Please read the article.. He wasn't allowed inside the stadium without a mask. That's just fine. Then he was watching alone from a distance and the game was still cancelled at halftime? This is a PRIME example of a power grab and over-reach by a petty school official. I get it if the guy was in the stands, he wasn't.

So he moved to a fence near the field to continue watching the game, but the petty tyrannical school district couldn’t handle someone disobeying their useless mask order.  The police weren’t going to do anything so the school district cancelled the game.  It’s on them. It’s BS if they are rewarded with a forfeit win while losing 35-0.

Help me understand this. A woman can kill a 8 month baby in her stomach because she just doesn’t want it but a responsible individual doesn’t have the right to go see a football game in a open air stadium an keep there distance with out a mask! This country has lost its freakin mind!

Latest information of the Texas Health and Human Services COVID dashboard: Out of over 9,000 confirmed fatalities the amount of deaths of people under 20 isn’t enough to even register. Shows as zero. Of the 9,000 almost 8,300 were older than 50 with majority of that over 70.  Trends seen at the start of this deal have not changed.  I really believe if this had happened 20 maybe even 10 years ago we would be talking about the lives lost from the virus but shutting down business, schools and anything else would not have even been a consideration. Maybe an isolated events, but nothing this widespread effecting this much of the country.  What I am seeing from college coaches, players and high school coaches and players is acknowledgment of the disease and acceptance that precautions are needed. But the desire to play far outweighs assumed risk of the virus.  Hopefully we can get to a point where people have a chance to make decisions for themselves again.

Okay so this is my take and no one else. First i am not a republican nor a democrat, i am a Christian and i hate all political parties cause they are like lawyers. Second i am anti Allopathic medicine, Pasteur was a fraud bought out by millionaires and billionaires seeing a good investment. Fear is the entire purpose of this whole pandemic. I am not saying there is not a flu virus by any name, there is. Just like there has been for thousands of years. The masters of fear began with predictions of deaths, followed by a lot of deaths, though many were caused by extreme measures of murderous--i mean political line toting governors who had a hand in over a third of all early deaths while hospitals made off with big $ by claiming wasp sting deaths were actually Covid caused. Once the public caught on it switched after rioting to CASES, CASES--what the heck is a case. Funny how no one has ever explained because the term case is even more ambiguous than the cause of death fiasco. Since no virus can be seen, virologists check often for antibodies produced to serve as evidence for presence OR former presence as some virus experts say that if you had a flu shot the past ten years. There is a test for existence of viruses called Koch's Postulate that is a systematic testing to isolate the virus for proven existence. It was NEVER done for this--some experts were besides themselves, yet their rants were hidden by the media, kinda like the Stanford professor, Noble Prize winner for Chemistry has been CRITICAL of the lockdown and everything dealing with this Corona thing. Google, Facebook, and twitter have basically deleted all of his objections.   THE PURPOSE of my post here is that IF all school districts would test all their football players, band members -all fall participants, there would be a lot of positive results--kids sick--NO, but positive results and everything would shut down. Why because we are reacting out of media driven emotion instead of logical interpretation. The reason Europe is doing so much now is NOT because everyone wore a mask, but because they understand the definition of case AND they do not have an impending election. Could i be wrong, yes, in my 34 years of coaching i have been wrong a lot and i have gotten better cause i corrected my mistakes. I first look at the log in my eye rather than the speck in my players cause i have control over who plays. Sorry for the long rant but i have been off social media and computer since about 3-29-20. I have a little time now in between virtual teaching , so i thought i would visit the old SE Texas football forum before i make my move to southern Montgomery County. Ya'll take care and hopefully we get to play ball.

I've seen some comments on here saying Jones "bit off too much", and "I haven't heard anything good." If "biting off too much" means holding young men accountable, and EXPECTING them to work hard everyday is "biting off too much" then so be it. If "not hearing anything good" means little Johnny's parents are pissed off because Coach Jones is mean and requires too much of little Johnny then so be it. It's a shame people act this way when someone in charge expects something of them or their children.

Read this yesterday and it seems factual.
Iowa HS Baseball season ends tonight (only state where HS sports have taken place since pandemic)
It wasn't exactly smooth sailing with Covid but:
    -94% of teams were unaffected
    -96% finished season
    -all infections reportedly mild
    -fans were allowed all season
I know it's Iowa but I still see this as good news.
