I took from his post that he would be ready after watching his dad for a season or two and getting acclimated. And I agree that would be the perfect situation for Anthony. And IMO, after the upcoming season, this is a much more "plum" job than Central.

NBA Summer League

How about that undrafted kid Aaron Harrison signing a 2 year deal with a guarantee? I guess that makes him not being drafted less "awkward" ;) -
Vidor's new hire as head basketball coach
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I will reserve judgment for now. I will say that Williams is highly praised by some folks I know and respect. I think Vidor has a chance to be very competitive with him. -
I was thinking about Tiger today as Watson made his last loop in the country where he is probably most revered. While Tiger has gone through caddies like strippers, Tom was helping his with his bag, and sitting with him as he died of cancer. If you haven't read Caddy for Life about Watson and Bruce Edwards, I highly recommend it. Some of John Feinstein's best work.

What a moment at twilight at the Old Course. Tom Watson had a career filled with class and grace. His final moments were no different. Also loved that Matt Kuchar came back to witness his last walk up 18 and to thank him, hours after his own round was completed.

Congrats on your thriftiness?? poor Aggy and poor Mack

Arrogance = know what it's like to win a championship and be relevant in the last decade. Got it. (Cue the "we finished in the top 5 3 years ago" - which is apparently acceptable but a championship in the last 10 years isn't.) Pee pee envy is one of aggy's greatest traditions...

I know a couple of vocal Aggies on this site who are "tee shirt fans." But it's apparently only a bad thing when it involves UT. Can't tell you the number of times I have been asked if I "actually went to UT." I usually just apologize to the gomer that I got in and he didn't.

Obsession noted, once again...

Would not surprise me either. Lifelong Longhorn fan. My personal opinion is he needs to get on these kids earlier and he wouldn't have to flip them. But he likes to use more caution in offers.

Kountze vs. Silsbee, with some HJ talk
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
You might be right. But Big Sandy would be the most disciplined team Silsbee would likely play. Would be a fantastic test for both teams IMO. -
He poached Dickson from Navasota from Baylor yesterday. Cooter is next.

Would love to see that one too! -
They're too busy kicking everyone's tail in basketball. Man they are fun to watch.

Kountze vs. Silsbee, with some HJ talk

I agree they have a great chance to get to SA. But any team at state will be a huge underdog to Bridgeport. Luckily, Devonte Patterson will graduate next Spring. Then again, I wouldn't be shocked if Cuban's brother in law reloads. -
As I've said, some of the best folks in SETX. You're never a stranger and they are as kind as they can be. And REALLY support their kids which I admire and respect tremendously. Whenever I meet someone from Evadale, I can just about guarantee they are going to be top shelf.

Kountze vs. Silsbee, with some HJ talk
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
No question. I have been "drinking the Silsbee kool aid" and have lost touch with reality. Actually, as you know, in reality I have no real rooting interest to choose one school over the other. I know kids that I really like at both schools and want to do well. And I like and respect both coaches. I am a big fan of Clay Davis' both on and off the court. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Won't be the first or the last time. But I do call 'em like I see 'em. -
I truly believe we are getting there. My kids and most of their friends (black and white) are truly color blind. I don't know that racism will ever be truly eradicated, but with the next generation, I think we will be even closer.

Before last season, I predicted Silsbee would not lose more than 3 district games in 5 years. After last season, for my prediction to be correct, they cannot lose more than 2 district games before this year's freshman class graduates. And I would still gladly make that bet. And if anyone takes it, you'd better hope they lose at least one this year... -
You know I'm a fan of yours. I also, believe it or not, grew up in a lily white town. Through sports, I had many friends of different races and learned at an early age we are pretty much the same inside and skin color has nothing to do with "the content of one's character." Although I am fairly certain there was Klan activity in my hometown, my parents were educated and did pretty well and didn't know "for sure" of anyone involved. After all, racism is at its core, rooted in ignorance. And as far as the Klan goes, in addition to being idiots, their cowardice has them hiding their faces as well...

Probably much ado about nothing. Another kid that wants to "enjoy" the recruiting process/attention. Can't blame a kid for that. Only happens once. I just wish they would hold off committing early when they aren't positive they want the process to be over. But again they are kids. In the end, they end up where they started as much or more than they don't. And as Pats said, who can blame him with A&M being OL U lately.

A&M Basketball---Co-SEC Champs!

Findlay Prep has been trying to get him to come. As far as I know, he is still firm to the Aggies. Kennedy and one of his assistants were at his games yesterday. -
Vidor's new hire as head basketball coach
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Will do. Will be at the Evadale tournament for sure. Good tourney for the boys and girls. -
You could list every coach, D1 and below. Patterson and Briles are the top 2 and I would give Patterson a small edge. The coaches at the two biggest universities have a lot to prove to me to pass either. I don't believe Sumlin is in their class although he is a very good recruiter. A little early with Strong but I have my doubts. You could also throw Mack in this discussion and I would still list him third. And he's the only living coach to win a NC for a Texas school or play in a title game.
