Yeah any time you play up 2 levels (I.e., a 4A playing a 6A), you should expect to be tested at a minimum.

I agree. So I’ll take Silsbee and you get the field. How much? -

My experience too. I look for this Silsbee team to progressively get better, peaking at the end of the season. I haven’t seen anything this far that would change my opinion going into the season. They are going through Sig’s typical predistrict gauntlet which is a tried and true method for success for the Tigers.

I think we can throw OF in that group of teams after Silsbee competing for 2-4 in that district... -
Negative. 3rd on depth chart. Hard to be the guy when you throw up all over yourself every time you have the ball or a chance at the ball In the biggest of moments. He will make someone a nice transfer. He’s not in the same hemisphere as Bijan Robinson and I will take Roschon over him as well.

You may be right. First time I’m seeing them. They have 15 in uniform. Their big man, Dews, has had a nice game. Still would like to see him stronger with the ball and attack the rim more when he gets it inside. -

Dobie has a couple of kids that can play but they are a very young team (have three freshmen playing varsity who start or log meaningful minutes). West Brook is clearly better, but I would classify as “okay” overall. The drop off from United to West Brook is significant, to say the least. -

Deflections aren’t just for DBs. Or perhaps start a thread about how EC has actively recruited Beaumont players to boost the otherwise pathetic talent pool in Winnie? See how that works?
-
Can we start a Dave Bliss thread too? I mean Baylor has proven almost as adept at covering up murder as rape after all. We should equally applaud both I would think...

That kid from Nebraska Mcneese has was 2nd in the country last year in 3 pt percentage. He was 9 of 13 for 28 pts the other night in that Dallas Baptist game.
-
Nice! I assume he was dinged up or sick their first game because he wasn’t in the box score. I was wondering what was going on.
-
It’s always been Silsbee dominant on this board, primarily because they’ve been the gold standard for basketball for awhile now. Just like on the football board, WOS has always dominated the talk.
-
If so, they are just one horseman away from running this state in basketball too buddy.
-
But I do agree this year he would help silsbee a lot more than he would hurt United. Arceneaux is easily the best player in the area and either Yates and Porshia would be the best player on Silsbee’s team.
-
I get that they would still be the best team in SETX without him since they probably have 3 of the best 5 or 6 best players in the triangle. But considering he would be a significant contributor on virtually any HS team in the state, to say they “wouldn’t miss a beat” is inaccurate. They wouldn’t be near the team they are with him and would lose all the blue collar, lunch pail, dirty work he gives you night in and night out. I agree they would still likely cruise to a district but their chances of getting to SA are significantly reduced without him.

[Eyes rolling out of the back of my head.] I am quite certain Coach Green would disagree vehemently with that statement. Speaking of, question - has Buzz called you yet for your opinion on Hefner?

Jahmi’us Ramsey led Duncanville to the 6A state title a couple of years ago and was just drafted by Sacramento. Duncanville was the third school he attended...HIS SENIOR YEAR. The point is that the UiL, which is as broken and dysfunctional as the NCAA, ALLOWS these DECs to make those decisions. As evidenced by the Ardoin kid, the appellate process is pretty much a perfunctory joke as well. So you have one end of the spectrum where you have DFW where the “let them play” mantra rules supreme. And then the other where you have ADs or Sups or coaches voting kids down who should qualify just to improve their own school’s chances of success. I would argue that the latter is more disgusting but certainly not trying to justify the former. But then you have people hammering HISD (and Yates usually is the whipping boy) about transfers, etc. But when Dallas has been doing it FOR YEARS and the uil relies on self-governance, is Houston just to concede the championships to Dallas? Granted FFA is the most egregious I’ve seen (importing a whole coaching staff and team). Until the uil gets off its behind and fixes the system (which would take a lot more money and resources than it has), this is what we are stuck with. If it were me, I would punish the bad actors on both sides - the Faith Family’s AND Huffman’s of the world.

Desoto is 6A. My guess is they are missing few, if any, due to football.

I’m not sure attending school where you are zoned is “cheating.” But let’s just say the metroplex “welcomes” competition.
