Should be a good one! Pulling for Newton! ;D

I grew up in Newton and Barbay is a MAJOR influence on tradition and winning. Before him, Lidney Thompson was the Head Coach, and he too, was instrumental in developing a winning team. Parents, teachers, and the whole community of Newton got into the act and helped to keep the tradition alive and well. In college, I met a girl from PNG and married her....26 years ago. We moved to Groves, and thank God, I was able to keep all my "purple and white" shirts....but, I remember the first time I went to a PNG game (Newton used to always, always look up to PNG in the 70's, the powerhouse of high school football), I heard the drums, saw a multitude of fans, and the whole excitement of the game. Added to this, the team was very good. I think all of this encomapasses a winning tradition....the players with their skills and abilities, the band, mascot, drill team, and fans with their excitement and expectations. All of these components work together to develop a "winning" tradition...I know at PNG, the support is there whether we are winning or losing. I happen to agree, I think MCM is the BEST high school football game in this area, not to take away from other rivalries because of what I mentioned earlier. Back in the 70's, in Newton, it was the rivalry between Newton and the Kirbyville Wildcats, at which time I thought there could not be any better rivalry. Ever how you deifine a "winning" tradition, it all boils down to the students themselves and the efforts they put forth. No of us would be enjoying "Friday Night Lights" if it were for those dedicated players, band, cheerleaders, mascots, and drill teams that are represented each week.

I think the reference here, is to PLAYOFF attendance, not Mid County Madness. If I remember correctly, last year, when PNG won MCM, I didn't see that many Ned fans left in the 3rd quarter as well. It doesn't matter, "true" fans will stay to the bitter end, whether you are winning or losing. ;D

PNG's loss to Nederland was not due to officiating. There were some questionable calls. PNG just were outplayed and got their butts beat! Suck it up, and move on...it was a learning experience, and PNG will continue to improve and make it to the playoffs.

Grogan is good, no doubt about that, and he will only get better. But, Mosely was a total package.....have to give Mosely my vote on this one.

Since it is homecoming, and the opening of our new stadium, the NDN's will be on the warpath, added to the fact, that the INDIAN fans will be out in full force. If you have not had a chance to see our new stadium, it is AMAZING! The scoreboard is magnificent! One word for the new PNG stadium: SPECTACULAR!

Nederland, you won fair and square Saturday nite. Not taking anything from your win. But, when it comes to playoffs and State Championships, sorry, you lose. PNG has the BETTER record...you have yet to attain the noterioty that PNG has, not only in State Championships appearances, but also, in fan base and following. Sorry, thats just the way it is! I-N-D-I-A-N-S, Scalp 'em, Indians, Scalp 'em!

Hmmmm....I think I hear the puppies sulking! Sorry, Ned, making it to the second round in playoffs, doesn't hold up to State Championships. Read it and weep!

Sorry, Ned fans, you will NEVER have the attendance at playoff games like PNG. It seems to me that Nederland fans continue to get upset because their fan following is not as great as that of PNG. Maybe, one day, you will!

Wow. bitter much? I agree, really bitter. Something must have happened in order for you to be full of so much hate! Hmmmmmmm....... ??? ??? ???

He's going to get better, just have to be careful not to run him in the ground. I saw him having to be pulled out a few times last night. Looks like he either got the wind knocked out of him, or he was out of breath. Might be a good thing if he lost a few pounds. Seems like he was struggling a few times with catching his breath.

PNG Indians Nederland Bulldogs Vidor Pirates Central Jags In no certain order. I feel like Vidor is going to surprise some folks, and sorry, but I think Central will beat Nederland. Bulldogs always seem to have a tough time with the Jags!

I agree with Nederland Bulldogs, and its not even close... Take a look at 13-4A... 13-4A: Hallsville, Longview, Longview Pine Tree, Marshall, Mount Pleasant, Sulphur Springs, Texas High I dont know if any team in 20-4A could make the playoffs if you added them to that district... Man, that's one heck of a district! We'd have a hard time there, but believe we could hold our own.

The Indians will take it out on Livingston next week, added to the fact that we will be in our AWESOME new stadium! This stadium is incredible and the field is something to be amazed! Because of our loss last night, I feel the Lions will get the wrath of the Indian fury!

Grogan is a beast for sure. I agree, he needs to put his head down and continue to plow up yardage. I'm sure Neuman will have him doing that soon. Gizzy definitely gave Cardenas a hard time tonite. Gizzy is a little fella, but very quick and will stick with you. Grogan should continue to improve, just hopefully, he won't be worn out before the playoffs. A big guy like that shouldn't be run into the ground...needs a break every once in a while. Nederland definitely deserved the win, congrats!

Congrats Nederland, you definitely came tonight and had your heads in the game. PNG, just wasn't prepared. I have to say, Bellows is a good QB. Had great spirals all night. Keep it up, ur doin good. Again, congrats Dogs, you deserved the win.
