  1. one could argue that with only 5 starters, basketball teams are more likely to have all-district quality players coming off the bench. in HS soccer, if you have four quality strikers, instead of bring two off the bench, you're probably going to stick them in midfield or defense, thus ensuring you have your best players in. In basketball, you can only do so much with 4 centers. Playing time is more likely to be evenly distributed between some of the starters and subs, and it's not unlikely that some of those subs get all-district. I doubt that there were many all-district quality soccer players coming off the bench last year. i do agree with you that there are several sports honoring too many players. I'd like to see the 1st and 2nd teams consisting of the amount of players that would start a game in the sport that is being played, and then having honorable mention consisting of maybe the same amount of players honored between the 1st and 2nd teams. baseball: 9 on 1st team, 9 on 2nd, 18 honorable mention basketball: 5 on 1st team, 5 on 2nd, 10 honorable mention and so on with the other sports
  2. i say: 11 1st team all district 11 2nd team all district 15-20 honorable mention anyone winning a special award (off. mvp, def. mvp, mvp, utility player, ect.) does not take up a spot on the all district teams. it's nice to give kids awards, but it defeats the purpose if half the district gets one. what's next, 1st and 2nd team all-district substitute and jv teams?
  3. this is not a football thread.
  4. i would say there's always basketball, but...
  5. good news for kelly, but why would you pass the ball up 5 with a minute left?
  6. geez, is it basketball season yet?
  7. news said final... Ozen 17 Central 10
  8. so png beat lumberton, and dayton beat png, so lumberton is out? that doesn't make sense. you can twist it around. lumberton beat dayton, and dayton beat png, so png is out. it's got to come down to points, right?
  9. what a comeback! i'm not pulling for either side, but i'd love to be at this game
  10. I must admit, i was one of the doubters at the beginning of the season, but l-town has had one hell of a run. good luck in the playoffs!
  11. Congrats Dayton on putting up two incredible performances in a row! Good luck in the playoffs!
  12. wow, it looked like jasper was about to put it away (i guess they better start putting the ball away)
  13. HJ did the same thing after my class graduated...
  14. i really think at this point the result next week is insignificant, but i wouldn't be completely shocked if they surprise some people.
  15. dayton looks like they could make a deep run in the playoffs if they keep this form.
  16. apparently the answer is lumberton.
