  1. What if HJ's quarterback, running back, and fullback hadn't gotten hurt in the 8th game of the season in 2001. We started out 8-0, then lost two games by a total of 3 points and got our butts handed to us in the first round of the playoffs. we had to play our last three games with little or no contributions from a 1,000 yard rusher, a 1,500 yard rusher, and a 1,000 yard passer.
  2. dayton 40 lumberton 13
  3. they didn't have many seniors last year, did they?
  4. my biggest concern is that the prices haven't changed for the players since the beginning of the season. now i'm trying to catch up, and i share 5 or 6 players with everyone in the league because we all have the cheapest players that are producing.
  5. does anyone else feel this way? i haven't enjoyed it nearly as much as in past years.
  6. As an HJ fan, my backside is hurting a little... of course, i did pick EC to win, but didn't think it'd be this bad. East Chambers is legit.
  7. thanks for keeping us updated.
  8. So Coop, most of the graphs are showing this thing hitting Louisiana, but an article in the Enterprise said it could come and hit us instead. What are the odds of this thing actually hitting us? I know that anything can happen, but is it a realistic possibility that we are hit again?
  9. I'm rooting for HJ, but I'm thinking EC is going to pull this one out. I hope the Hawks prove me wrong. EC 26 HJ 16
  10. not hard for me to believe... she's queen of the amazons. i'd take her over any of the regulars in the soccer forum (including myself) in a fist fight.
  11. pretty good guess. 33-19... i was only off by a couple of missed PAT's.
  12. i was wondering... i work for bisd, and i figured they'd just have us kayak into work. praise the lord for small miracles.
  13. I'm just thankful i don't play for the new braunsfels unicorns.
  14. that's pretty sweet.
  15. there was also an indoor place in longview, and it did pretty well, getting teams from tyler, marshall, and longview. i was going to school in marshall, and our college team would get a couple of squads together and we'd go play, but soccer is a lot bigger down here with tons of players from lumberton, beaumont, nederland, and pn-g, and good amounts of players from vidor, silsbee, lcm, etc.
  16. i'm glad to hear that there are a couple of indoor options, but i don't know how available they will be to the average joe. i went to lamar for a year and we got a pretty good club team together, and they would let us practice indoors in one of the gyms, but i wouldn't call it an indoor field. i'm not sure what lamar has now. is the one at the lamar rec center an actual indoor soccer field, or just a gym where they let you play?
  17. I've been wondering why there is no indoor soccer field in the southeast texas area. it seems to me that if there was one, it would do quite well. you figure in girl and boy leagues for every age division up to age 18, and then college leagues, coed leagues, over30 leagues, and so on, and an indoor place would make some money. on top of this, concessions, maybe some t-shirt and merchandise sales, and a small bar/restaurant, and it could be very profitable. what do ya'll think? I know i'd play in at least a couple of leagues myself.
  18. i respect you, tigersvoice. if silsbee's team takes your mindset, they'll be in much better shape .
  19. i'm just saying, SOME of the silsbee fans are talking like HJ will be crap, which is obviously not true. If the silsbee players take that same mentality, they're going to be in trouble.
  20. i think by 2010 we should have a team capable of making it to the quarters or semis, if we can avoid playing a top 3 team before that point. that being said, we could always crap out like we did last year, especially if we continue to get the "quality" officiating that we've gotten over the past year or so.
  21. if silsbee's players come into this series as cocky as some of their fans, HJ will wipe the floor with them.
  22. i'm ok with ching or johnson, as long as they're up top with either donovan or dempsey. our defense, midfield, and goalkeeping has steadily gotten better, but our forwards aren't advancing as quickly. it seems like when both donovan and dempsey are either in the midfield or out of the game that our attack goes stagnant.
  23. i'm definitely more anti-ching than anti-johnson.
  24. i can totally respect that.
  25. it looked like it might have come off the arm, but he had his arms tucked across his chest, so it wasn't exactly a maradona.
