  1. no, i'm pretty sure in southeast texas it can go either way ;D
  2. shark, did you use to (maybe still do) play 6 pack in the summer at babe?
  3. I came in late and had to read this whole thread straight through, and i have a few opinions. 1. Kelly has a very good team, and shark did a pretty good job of getting a schedule together that will challenge them and make them better. I don't think they're playing too many patsies, even if they don't get a chance to play almighty friendswood. 2. FriendswoodFan is making a lot of claims about a lot of things he probably doesn't know too much about. Tired of hearing about kelly? It's too bad, they're the only show in town right now. When the other teams start up it will be a little different. (you could always try the houston-area sports blogs) 3. Excuse or not, being travel-weary is a reasonable explanation for kelly not playing their best. They've played quite a few games in a short amount of time, and done a lot of traveling during that time. This does wear on you a bit. As shark said, though, the results of these games are not really that important, so who cares? all that matters is that kelly continues to gain experience to help them later on in the season when the games begin to count for something. 4. BonMot (i won't call you bm, as nobody likes to be called a shit ) i've gained a lot of respect for you reading this thread. it was clear that you were on kelly's side, but when the kelly kids said some things that were unfounded, you called them out on it. i found that refreshing. 5. I'm glad soccer season is here and people are actually coming back to the soccer board. I can only handle so much women's national team chitchat.
  4. geez... the hawks are tearing it up!
  5. what about dayton, la marque, and nederland? those were just pushovers? they won enough games to tie for first in a district that swept their first round games, went 2 for 3 in the second round, and has a legit state title contender in dayton. who pissed in your cheerios, anyway? you've been bashing lumberton since last night. a lot of us are guilty of underestimating them, but you're one of the few who insists on disrespecting them.
  6. dayton is definitely hot right now. i'd certainly hate to be the team to try to stop ya'll. i'm excited to see SETX pull together to cheer ya'll on. i'll certainly be pulling for you guys next week!
  7. my serve is faster than your serve! nu-uh, and my forehand is stronger than yours! no it's not, plus, you have a little racket. ;D ;D ;D it seems it would be tough to talk too much trash in a competition where the winner is clearly defined by how they do individually. it's not like a football game where the best team doesn't always win. usually, the better player prevails, and the trash talk is done by the result. anywho, here's to a great tennis season... best of luck to all of our local players.
  8. the extra points are no doubt an issue, but they're an issue for a lot of teams in the lower classifications. as for the playcalling, WOS was able to make it this far just fine. a couple of fumbles didn't help matters, and playing a very good defense obviously was a huge factor in WOS's second half struggles. I'm sure with the quality of talent and coaching that the stangs have, they'll be back next year with a chance to advance even farther. the FEW of you who are being critical need to remember that you win as a team, and lose as a team. there are several different ways that the stangs could've won this game. a score in the second half, a made extra point, a defensive stop, a special teams play; if any of these things had happened, WOS very well might have won. The task at hand now is for the coaching staff to find ways to improve these areas, and as good as ya'll are, they probably won't have to work very hard to do it.
  9. i'm ok with this move. matsui will do fairly well in this park, with it's short fences. since colorado started putting it's balls in humidifiers, the balls don't fly out their like they used to, so his numbers aren't really that skewed from playing there. his game is reasonably similar to biggio's... a little less pop, but a little better speed and defense. i think this is a fairly good move for the stros. now they just need some pitching.
  10. as one lumberton fan put it, "no crow for me... three rounds deep, and i'm eating steak tonight". who can blame the fans for feeling like they couldn't be beat. the excitement was incredible in lumberton, and they had just won two games in the playoffs after never even making the post season before. if i thought they should be eating crow, this would almost be funny. as it is, the people who should be eating crow are the ones who said lumberton wouldn't win 3 games in district, wouldn't make the playoffs, or wouldn't win if they got there. i noticed that there wasn't any actual crow in your recipe. is this because the early-season raider critics (including myself) have been eating it all year, causing a huge crow shortage at local grocery stores?
  11. This was a tough loss for ya'll last night, and i've heard no excuses; just congrats and praise for waller, and acceptance of the fact that ya'll ran into a better team. It's been a pleasure watching your excitement the last few weeks as your team made history, and it's just as nice to see you handle defeat with class. every post i've read this morning is congratulatory to your boys as well as waller, which is the way it should be. congrats on your great season. i don't know if lumberton could've made it this far without such a great group of fans who would drive any distance to make sure that the stands were full for their boys.
  12. the best thing about this board is the interest that in generates in all of our teams. before this year, i never would've taken the time to find anything out about most of the teams around here. by the end of the season, instead of being a fan of my alma mater, i was a fan of southeast texas football. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on here. thanks to all of the administrators and moderators for your work on here, and thanks to all of the fans for getting involved, and for the most part keeping things respectful and fun.
  13. absolutely! you guys have nothing to be ashamed of! three rounds deep is fantastic, especially for your first trip to the playoffs. best of luck to ya'll next year, and remember to hold your heads up... there were a lot of great teams (including la marque) that didn't even get the chance to suit up tonight.
  14. everything good here... don't worry, it's not your fault, my parents went to the game, the first one they've been to all year. you didn't jinx them, it was my own flesh and blood
  15. oh well, great season guys!
  16. It's been a great year for SETX football, but Dayton is the only team left standing. Congrats to all of our playoff teams, and good luck next week to Dayton. Bring us home a state championship!
  17. quit with the crap. they just had their best season ever, and had some impressive wins.
  18. i hate this... they could've won this one. great year, stangs.
  19. glad to see them pull one back...
  20. i think it's more like there's not enough server tonight
  21. dayton broncos the last man standing. i hate to see us all drop tonight. bring it on home, broncos
  22. it's better that they scored... they should've knelt and run the clock out.
