BISD's additional cuts could include athletics
bullets13 replied to CraigS's topic in The Locker Room
The problem is not that the busses have been cut, but that the money was spent to provide them to begin with. Most districts do not provide these services. My mom was a single mother who worked nights, but I never missed an afterschool basketball practice, and I never got stuck at school without a ride home, despite the fact that I lived a good ten miles from my middle school and 7 or 8 from my high school. family and the community should be able to make it work for a kid. there's no reason, especially in Beaumont where most kids live reasonably close to their school, that a teammate or teammate's parent can't get another kid home after a game or practice. -
If Sam doesn't make a team....Get ready for it.....

Tebow put up some of the worst numbers in history. Sam had decent numbers in a handful of games. Tebow's team won in spite of him, not because of him. -

To be fair, Sam did better in preseason (pretty decent) than Tebow did at any time in his pro career. to be even fairer, Tebow fans imagined most of the criticism he took for expressing his Christian views. there were a few people who complained, but the majority of people who said he was criticized for his Christianity actually ignored the fact that he sucked. Then when people said he sucked, they blamed the criticism on his Christianity, rather than the fact that he was a terrible QB. I will say that I agree that Sam is getting way too much media coverage for a player that was cut from the roster and can't even find a practice team, but like it or not, he's not an ordinary player, and the interest in his career is well above average. he's getting more attention than he deserves (not unlike Tebow) because he lives a lifestyle much different from the average NFL player (not unlike Tebow). -
haha, a typo. i was in a hurry.

also worth noting, i asked for and received extra proof since making that last post.

Nash, ECO has sent me some information that leads me to believe that he is telling the truth about managing a multibillion dollar portfolio. He wishes to remain anonymous on this board, which i suppose is fairly understandable with all of the people he's hacked off. That being said, I have zero opinion in y'alls pissing contest, as i have little to no clue about what either one of you is talking about.

Sure does. But when I cut my back field, it doesn't mean I'm working my job.

Our school went from 23 to 12. -
President bush took 77 trips to his Crawford ranch, at one point staying for 5 weeks straight. He racked up 879 days of vacation while Obama is around 150. Obama generally plays once a week, I'm sure on a closed course, so he probably zips through in a couple of hours. I don't really see the point here.
-
In my opinion? Not much different. There was speculation and then protests and riots before the police had to time to do much of anything.
-
I saw one report that stated there are TWELVE Witnesses backing the cop's story, and another stating he had a fractured orbital bone.
-
This of course being the tape with the clerk trying to stop him from exiting the store with a box of "rellos", is it not?
-
That didn't last long...
-
If that's the case, I'm not sure where the outrage should come from.
-
Was Wagner unarmed? I didn't see it in the article.

Apparently the cop who shot brown's dad lives in Orange. Not sure if the cop is from setx though. [Hidden Content]

African-American parents explain "The Talk"
bullets13 replied to thetragichippy's topic in The Locker Room
I went on a ridealong with TVC this weekend. Not much was going on, so we were riding around and we saw a car stopped in the turn lane with a person inside and a couple of people around the car. They happened to be black. He turned his car around and approached them to see what was going on. He then found out the car was dead, and he and I helped them push it out of the road into a parking lot. All of that to say, it looked very suspicious, and even though they were in fact doing nothing wrong, he still had to check out. Police are paid to check out suspicious situations. And while he might have been criticized for "harassing them" had they been doing something wrong, had he driven by without stopping and there was a shooting victim in the driver's seat, imagine the outrage. I've also ridden with him enough to know that had the occupants in the car been white, he would've done everything exactly the same. -
Kind of gives him a good reason to lie, though, doesn't it? Regardless of the outcome of the investigation into the shooting, there is no way the police can ever bring charges against him. Protesters will claim it's retaliation, despite the clear video evidence.
-
Did the medical examiner examine the cop for a sign of a struggle? He's claiming to have been punched in the face... I'm not sure what happened, and witnesses and evidence are conflicting, but until a clearer picture of what actually happened emerges, I'm going to go ahead and give the benefit of the doubt to the officer with the spotless record rather than to the young criminal fresh off his latest felony.

The public is so outraged by the police acting like "military", they had to call in the actual military. now they're about to see what military really looks like.

African-American parents explain "The Talk"
bullets13 replied to thetragichippy's topic in The Locker Room
Of course there are. But corrupt is not the same as "murderer". While there are cases every year of police shooting and killing people, and while there are cases of police brutality, if this case went down as the main witness stated, this would be literally the first case in my lifetime that I can remember where an officer just shot someone for no apparent reason. I'm not talking about cases where officers took things too far, or made a mistake, or got nervous or pissed off and used too much force, but actually saw someone, maybe exchanged words and then shot them? While I'm sure it's happened somewhere at some point, that is not a problem that anyone of any race realistically faces in this country. -

He would ask me. What point are you trying to make? -
And why are we still debating whether or not he committed a robbery? I saw an interview with his buddy's lawyer admitting it happened.
-
Why is it harder for you to believe that a criminal who had just committed an assault and robbery might assault an officer than it is for you to believe that an officer with 6 years of spotless service would shoot an unarmed teen for no reason?
