  1. I guess it has its advantages from time to time, but i hate the fact that 23-AA has byes thru 1st round.  It sucks playing someone coming off a big play-off win.  It can be a huge disadvantage too.

NW will give Hardin's defense some huge fits.  Hardin should be able to move the ball a little against em, but if they cant control the ball, the clock, or NW's offense, then it may be a long night for the Hornets.

  2. 1. Rudy sacking the GT QB (heck, the whole last 15 minutes)

    2. Robin Williams shaking Dr Death to make the big catch in  The Best of Times

    3. Forest "Charles Jefferson" Whittaker freaking out in Fast Times.

OK, the ball is rolling, run with it.

This one was funny, he tells Dr. Death..."I'm pretty fast for a cau-caision"

Still can't picture Robin Williams playing football though...

Coach Yoast's speech was a good one.

  3. Love the Cats, but I knew that Tenaha was going to be to much for us! Maybe next year when we play them at home! The only way in my opinion for the Cats to compete at a state level with the likes of Tenaha is for the school board to stop trying to save a fewber for  bucks and get real coaches to come to H-D! Money talks and when you pay the bottom of the barrell money to coachs (Slack) this will always be the end result. Havent had a top coach in H-D since Copeland left in 99'. Sure, we will probably win District and go to the playoffs like always, then lose in the first round, likes always. But again...until the school board unasses some cash this will always be.   Of course, my opinion............

this has got to be the stupidst thing said on the computer network. thanks alot now we are all a little bit dumber for reading this post.

    :D

  4. Losing Coach Stapert and both Whittakers, one from graduation, the other from transfering, will really hurt Spurger. I don't look for them to have the success that they had last year.

OK, don't laugh, I'm way behind the times, but where is Stapert going?

  5. I was at the game as well. I also don't have a dog in the race and hope both teams do well.  What I saw was a Liberty team that was not able to pass or protect the quarterback well.  They also could not run the ball on the outside.  They were able to run the ball down Hardin's throat with consistency.  This was Hardin's Achilles heal last year and is how Gilmer beat them fairly easily.  The Hardin offense did pass the ball well, but they were not able to run the ball except for the one play by Mitch V.  The Liberty secondary did not look very good especially the cornerbacks.  There were several plays that they had a chance to make something happen and Hardin ended up with large gains.  The Hardin D has to be able to stop the run up the middle.  I saw the comments from Haynes that he was upset Liberty ran counters.  I would think that should have been an eye opener on what he needed to work on.  All in all I though both teams looked like they just played their first scrimmage.  I am sure there coaches saw that they both have a lot to work on.  It is intersting to see the different views of the game from the fans.  I hope the enthusiasm stays positive and everyone does well.  The Liberty/Hardin kids all pretty much know each other, and it should be a fun time to strap on the helmet and knock each other around a little.

    Well put.

  6. That is why 7-7 is so irrelevent to the game of football.  If they played touch on Fiday night then it might mean something.

It's not so irrelevent if your offense is based upon the pass.  It can expedite your offensive game plan to a whole new level.  Gets all the "timing" down.  It can really help a team if that team runs the spread. Just my opinion...

  7. He has not signed as of yesterday. He is still talking to basketball coaches and recruiters still has not decided on a sport to play. But he is good enough to play any sport on the next level. I just hope he don't wait too long.

But back to the thread, I think they have a very good chance at playoffs next year. They had several young varsity players that gained experience. The offense that is left has another whole year with Coach Haynes. I think they will be just fine next year.

  8. It was 15 and hardin had 14.  I was right next to the person keeping the book.  You would be crazy not to know that.  So your telling me anahuac scored 10 runs on a bunch of errors and walks?  Nope that nolan kid didn't walk to many and Hardin only had 2 or 3 errors.

I'd like to play for your team and that particular scorekeeper.  I can guarantee you Hardin had more than 3 errors.  Not 100 percent on the hits but 15 sounds way high.  But I didn't keep a scorebook.

I did say, in my earlier post, that both teams put the bat on the ball though...

  9. No excuses...I'm not trying to take anything away from hardin they played and fought all through the game, just next time if Anahuc gets their pitching refined its going to be a very different ballgame.  And to talk about the kid that pitched he battled and competed but impressive is not the word.  When you give up 15 or so hits that doesn't impress anyone.

Anahuac wasn't anywhere close to 15 hits.  The actual number is about half that.

  10. Nolan pitched complete game for the Hornets.  First CG ever pitched for him.  Hardin still having a ton of errors on defense.  Both teams put the bat on the ball pretty well though.

    Congrats Hornets.

This week will be especially tough on Hardin as these rain out are being made up, because their not real deep in pitching.  Nolan's complete game helps em out alot though.  Gives them a much better chance against Kountze and Buna this Friday and Sat.
