THANKS FOR THE LIST. NOT SURE HOW THE COACHES MAKE SOME OF THE PICKS.
I agree with you Mr. Reality. One thing I noticed was there was NO picks highlighted in yellow. Which means there was probably NO unanimous selections. Bet it was a fun district meeting for the coaches...

How do you think anahuac will do this year? Will they be in the top 3
Anahuac will be tough this year. Had a pretty good team last year, didn't lose a whole lot. I don't see why they wouldn't be challenging for the title this year. Depends on, like most teams, how there pitching is, and how it holds up. They were a good hitting team last year, so offense should be good.
-
Hardin may have to cut a few. Sad though, the numbers just aren't there for baseball. They have too many to carry on a Varsity squad, (without cutting some), but usually just not enough for a JV too.
-
Hardin's Daniel Marsh recieved second team offense at Wide Reciever!!
-
Liberty had a heck of an offensive night.

I think Anahuac could of beat Hardin but they didn't have the big go to guy in the paint that Dewyville has I'm Taking Dewyville at home by 6. I think Bland will out play Marsh.

Surely you're joking. -
Congrats to HD for finally being recognized. Breaking the top 20 at #19. Its a start.
Congrats Newton, still moving up. -
Its official. I've now witnessed the worst officiating of the season. And before all the people get on here and tell me to do it, I AM an ex basketball official (quit when my kids started playing) and my team won tonight.
The game was interesting tonight, because I believe I've seen the best and worst officiating in the same game. One was very good, maybe the best I've seen this year, the other, well, no need to say it again.
Very impressed with the hustle and improvement of the Anahuac basketball team. They can also drain the 3 as good as any team I've seen this year.
Congrats Hardin, way to stay focused, when, ...well,... things just weren't going your way.
-
I agree, Newton will win this one...
-
Hardin returns these starters:
Dale Pitts - Sr. 1st team all district outfielder
Bryan Remsing - Sr. 2nd team all district outfielder
Jordan Nolan - Sr. 1st team all district short stop
Cameron Koen - Sr. second base
Mitch Villamez - Soph 1st Base
Garrett Cathriner - Jr. outfilder
Thomas Mahdl - Sr. designated hitter
Andrew West - Sr. designated hitter/3rd base
West didn't see much last year due to shoulder injury.
Pitching is the big question for the Hornets this year. Nolan and Remsing will see most of the innings. Cathriner, and Freshman Taylor may see a few innings as well.
-
Bleacher bum... who backed up nolan this past year? and who backed up marsh?
Junior Garrett Cathriner, and Freshman Marquis James took snaps this year behind Nolan. Villamez took some in practice, but I'm not sure who the QB will be next year. Bracken Jones, Cathriner and a few others played some reciever last year.
-
Wow, Newton should keep moving up, they are tearing it up right now.
-
Congrats HD
Spurger keep your heads up, it's not over!!!
HD- Good game, would have been a lot better, if we had won!
HD- Better Team, don't think so (Only last night)
HD- Starting Point, out w/ flu, hope speedy recovery
HD- gets noticed, you got it from this area, will see next week if TABC gives it
Mr. Reality who is #8 & #9 in the state, Spurger is currently #11 & BS #12
CSI- Who are u talking about when u say freshmen? And I don't think Spurger got out hostled, but out played-scoring surely wasn't their for Spurger
P. Whittaker getting in foul trouble very very early in the game & J.T. Sheffield couldn't buy a 3
2qwik- if HD is better than Spurger for our loss, then HD is better than Big Sandy for their loss w/ them
Hardin-just needs to HUSH, if HD is better than Spurger, then HD would really put a spankin' on ya'll (still think #10 H. Davis is the best, not Marsh )Not blaming this game on ref's, they were O.K., have seen extremely worse this season. Spurger just didn't play one of their better games & @ this point they have to. I support them & know they will recover from this.
Spurger- Keep your heads up & let's make a difference come next week w/ BS & SP
By the way I think Senior Pate Sheffield had a great game
Hardin has beaten HD this year already. As for as Hunter being better than Marsh...What planet are you from? Marsh is one of the best players in this region, from all classifications. Davis is good too but to say he's better than Daniel...not quite there yet. Other than this comment...good post.

Bleacher bum... you seem like you are familiar with the hardin program. Do you know of the upcoming seniors on the team and what positions they will play? They are going to be the ones that need to step up...
Stelly will be the undisputed senior leader on the team. He will go both ways as he did this year, playing LB amd RB. Garrett Perry, offensive line, Wade Williams, Offensive line, Bracken Jones, WR/DB, Spencer Nethercutt, TE/DE. These are the ones off the top of my head.
The team will be somewhat young again. The freshman group is the ones to watch for. They will be sophmores next year, and several will have varsity experience.
Look for Justin Stevens, Marquis James, Luke King, DJ Hall, Marcus Scott, and Kory Maxwell, to contribute at the Varsity level next year.
The Junior class will look pretty good too. Mitch Villamez, Hunter Davis, Thomas Carroll, Dominique Rushing, Dylan Barber, Brandon Collins, and Euriel Torres.
-
Congrats to Newton, Woodville is no pushover, they are a pretty good team. The Eagles have it going on...They will be a tough team to beat!
-
Congrats Warriors.
Looks like Buna had a tough 2nd quarter, only scoring 3.
-
looks like hardin will win the district i dont c any one else beating them
This district is crazy good. I believe Warren, Anahuac, and/or Deweyville are capable of pulling out a win against Hardin, EC, or Kountze. It could happen at any time. If someone gets too comfortable, they will get beat. Congrats Hornets a tough fought victory. Man, EC is a tough place to win in.
-
Congrats Bobcats! Good job Sam, Tre and Adrian. Keep it up!
Mr. Reality, its just as you told me at the Hardin/HD game, they are improving every single game.
-
The teams look good. Congrats to all that made it.
Thanks SETX SPORTS. Man I miss football...

Hey blecherbum I think oldplayer could be right...its obvious you don't know haynes history to well. He finds a go to guy each and every year no matter what. The guy has always built playmakers and he will have them a again this year. Marsh and nolan were great but there will be two more great players again next year. Haynes reloads no matter where he coaches....
There's no one who has looked at Haynes' resume more than myself. I know very well what the team will look like next year, and as I said, I believe Hardin will be a good team. However, stating that losing ANY all state selection from your team won't hurt a bit is a strecth. There are some really good athletes coming up and I know about some of the transfers coming, but Nolan and Marsh were a special duo that will be missed. Maybe they won't be irreplaceable, but they will be missed.
-
The best athlete in that program is Villamez and the new kid that moved in from Livingston. Hunter Davis is a better all around athlete than stelly. Stelly is a powerfull running back but if your talking about athletic wise Davis is better and will be two times better than stelly by the time he's a senior, but yeah stelly will be very tough to deal with for opponents next year no doubt but Villamez will be unstoppable. People just don't know how good hardin is going to be next year. Losing marsh and nolan won't hurt one bit.
Losing two all state teamers wont hurt a bit? Strong words which can't be substantiated...
I think Hardin will be good also, just can't say losing those two won't hurt at all, that is ridiculous.
