  1. If you were there, did you see the ball hit the Huffman player twice (she hit it once on the arms, ball went up, then as it was coming down, hit her as she was laying on the floor, then another Huffman player sent it back over the net)? Should have been an illegal 2-touch but for some reason, officials allowed it.  I think Hardin was leading at the time towards the end of the game?

  2. Hardin swept Buna in 3 games (25-15, 25-7, 25-12) to close out an undefeated district schedule.  Congrats to the Lady Hornets for making the playoffs for the 14th straight year and the 9th straight year of being district champions (or at least a share of it).

Hardin will play Danbury at Lee College next Tuesday to begin the playoffs.

    Needed more voters.......

Agreed.  Too many good players in this area to have a list like this that is loaded with kids from what seems to be the same teams.  Do coaches send in the info for these sportswriters to look over?

I have no doubt that all of these kids are good but I can think of a few kids that were just as deserving.

There was lots called in the Woodville Buna series. If as an umpire you don't call them ALL year it is a disservice to the kid.

There are umpires that will not call them and you usually will not see those umpires in the playoffs or even in the state tournament.  There are rules about practically everything in softball and if it's in the rule book, then it should be called.  I've seen illegal pitches run the gamut from quick pitching to crow-hopping off the rubber.  It can be a rude awakening for a pitcher who is used to pitching a certain way to be called for an illegal pitch but if she is being called for it then she has to adjust to it, just like a batter has to adjust to each umpire's personal strike zone.  If a pitcher is getting away with illegal pitches during the regular season, it's not fair to the pitcher who may be pitching the right way.
