I would say between Tarkington and Huffman... then Splendora.
Have you seen Splendora play this year?  They won't sniff third.  I'll give that to, maybe, Liberty.  They are scrappy.

Huffman looked pretty good at their own tournament with a hiccup or two there.  Tarkington is always pretty solid, so I think it comes down to those 2 for the first 2 spots.

Other results, according to the Chronicle:

    Houston Christian 2, Huffman 0
Houston Christian 2, Houston Carnegie 0
    Houston Christian 2, Hardin 1

Houston Christian has some size and they can play!  Just because they are a private school,  no one should take them lightly.
They are a TAPPS 5A school...in fact in the same district as Kelly...which means they are one of the larger private schools in the state.
Ouch, I didn't know that.

    Pool play...
    All I've seen is -
    Hardin lost to Huffman
    Dayton beat PNG
    Ozen beat MacArthur
As I type this, Dayton just beat Houston Reagan
    Splendora losing to Caney Creek.
    Huffman beating Carnegie Vanguard.

Oh, Dayton is in it as well?  Thanks for the head up.  It is on the fly with Dayton as I have not gotten their 2010 schedule yet.

just think about what about to happen once district play starts

volleyball player's  that might be cheerleaders or on the band
oy...I guess this argument never gets old.  What's more important?  Helping your volleyball team win in district play (which could help for playoffs) or cheering a boys sport (which can hinder your v-ball teams playoff hopes)?

i think they are coming out with the volleyball, and spring districts but i think volleyball will be 24-2A
you, sir, are correct...24-2A is the district for Anahuac, Hardin, Deweyville, East Chambers, Kountze, and Buna.  However, 23-2A has Groveton, Centerville, Anderson-Shiro, New Waverly, etc. and that will make for an interesting Bi-District round in the playoffs.

Congratulations! to the Lady Hornets. They came to play and showed no fear of the undefeated Lady Eagles. There is a lesson to be learned from this. I took my two 8th grade girls to watch this game. I thought what we would see was a tough Woodville team beginning it's journey to State. What we saw was a determined Hardin team that played there hearts out and came out on top. We have all heard it said many times..... "Any team can be beat on any given day". You have to believe. Classic David vs Goliath. I have always told my girls you have to believe that you have a chance EVERY time you step on the court. You could see it in the Hardin girls eyes. They wanted this game! The Lady Eagles seem to have an attitude of entitlement. With that said the Lady Eagle still derserve credit for their acomplishments. A 30-0 regular season is unbelievable! 30-1 is heart breaking going out in the first playoff game.

This is what I meant when I made a comment on a different thread but you summed it up perfectly..."Any team can be beat on any given day."  I'm really proud and happy for this Lady Hornet team.  Coach Balch has done a fine job with this very young team.  No doubt that Woodville was bigger, stronger and probably more athletic but all that isn't a match for a strong determination to win.  Congrats Lady Hornets!

If EC makes it out of the 2nd round? They've beat Hemphill once this year so I would say going into this game EC will be the favorite to win. Also, if both Woodville and EC make it to Tyler I think the game will be an extremely close one.
Not slamming either EC or Hemphill, but I hate to see someone pull out the "they beat so-and-so once this year" card.  Everyone knows that each game is different and you need to approach it that way.  Same for the Woodville-Hardin game; yes, Woodville is a very good team but anyone who knows anything about basketball knows that anything can happen in the game, including game favorites losing that same game.

Did Hardin get runner up in district or did they tie with buna?
tied with Buna
Playoff with Buna Friday to decide the seeding.
The deciding game will be played Friday the 12th at Hardin-Jefferson HS at 6pm.

Congrats on Hardin making the playoffs, But lets be real guys if they play Woodville Hardin will loose by at least 25 lol
I hate being an English teacher, but it's "lose", not "loose."  Also, quit with the "lol."  This isn't texting on a phone and it makes you sound like you're 13 years old.  I know who you are and you are not 13.

That being said, Woodville is very good this year but the Lady Hornets have improved for being such a young team.  They will give a challenge, I think, to Woodville.  The only way Woodville wins by 25 is if they are firing on all cylinders with minimal turnovers and they force Hardin into a lot of turnovers and stupid mistakes.

White Oak got beat 3 games straight against Poth.  They aren't undefeated anymore!  Poth will face Aubrey on Saturday in the 2A finals at 11:00.  Can't wait to see it....it should be a good game!
From what I hear, Poth will win it, based on the performances of the 2A teams yesterday.  However, you never know, Aubrey may get pumped up and beat Poth.  It takes a special team to be in the championship game.

    KOUNTZE 76
    HARDIN JEFFERSON 54
You're a knothead if you think Kountze will blow out a perennial 3A playoff (and state) contender in H-J.  I still think Kountze wins but the difference will be less than 8 points.

It a possibility they will head back to Austin this season but they have to get by New Waverly who is the team that went to austin 2 years straight from Region 3
I am going to say that if they have Devin Bray and Roman Walker...those 2 are enough to give defensive coaches a fit.  I don't know McDaniel but if he is on par with the other two then New Waverly definitely will have their hands full.  I give Kountze a 85% chance of getting back to Austin as Coach Joubert knows how to get the most out of his teams.
