It was a great experience for both he and his little brother. He was so stoked that he walked all of the way back to camp. Close to a mile and was still grinning.

Well we didn't do any good last week, but my 15 year old grandson got his first ever yesterday. Was a nubbing buck. Was small, but like he said it was his first and gives him something to look forward to.

Big Girl- You have repeatedly said it was a lie
olddadt49 replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
I just now started reading these posts. It's hard for me to believe that anyone with a logical mind would think about mustard gas the way Big girl does. I wish she could have heard my grandfather tell of what he saw during WW1 in the European theater. Maybe then she would rethink her position on the matter. -
You are right warparty we do need them for the future. This kid LOVES the outdoors and everything that is out there constructive to do (he has even helped to plant trees as a service project). He also has a little brother (7) that loves to hunt and fish and both are ready for Saturday. I also have a grandson (16) in PN that likes hunting and fishing so much he wants to be a game warden. I am very fortunate to have them love it like I do and all of their other grandfathers take them also. It truly is a family affair around here. I am truly blessed!

I took one of my grandsons this weekend. He enjoyed being out there, but didn't get to see anything except a doe. The bad part is that he saw her standing in the road. He was walking back to camp, rounded a curve and there she was. He said he didn't know who scared who the most! Would loved to have seen his eyes.

I would think that would be a fun sight to behold. I have never seen anything like that before. Guess I sleep too much. The loud snoring probably doesn't help either.
-
I haven't thought of that. They may need an early holiday meal!

I have only had one sorry little doe on the camera. The only other things are a dog and a couple coyotes. I am on 1013 in between Spurger and Hillister.

Thank you for noticing. It should be allowed EVERY time. That's just my humble opinion.

Anyone do any good today?

I just found out I may not get to go bow hunting. I got a call from a guy that may want me in North Dakota to start a job by the end of the month. I'm supposed to be retired!

Is everyone ready to go? It comes early this year!

I wish I had a picture of something to post. I haven't even seen anything since the Monday of opening weekend of bow season!

This should show some posters that just because you have a race horse, you don't always need to enter it in the Kentucky Derby. -
Anyone think it will be too windy to hunt this weekend? I heard some gusts as high as 30 possible.

Nederland RB Hopkins plays through pain

I really enjoy watching him run around, over and through people. I would much rather be in the stands watching than in front of him trying to stop him! -
I am hoping things get better at my place. I haven't seen any sign of a deer of any kind in the daylight since opening weekend of bow season. Lots of action on cameras at night though!

The thing about this game is that to most people no matter what the score is, the point difference won't be enough! -
I have used acorn rage and it always gets eaten.I also have used something called I think sweet beet. It has always not only been eaten, but also they try to dig it up and always has a lot of tracks around it. However it always seems to be the corn that brings them back to graze.

Anyone else on Campbell Timber lease?
olddadt49 replied to rip2506's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Campbell took over our lease this year. We have been on this same land since before 1984. We are on about 1400 ac near Rockland and have killed many very nice deer over the years. The main problem with the rules I have is when they were issued ( which was after the lease was signed) And the way they arbitrarily said the camp sites need to be repaired up to an unspecified condition and hog traps needing repair had to be taken home to repair then brought back, nothing buried but removed and properly disposed of etc. They even complained about a feed barrel that was stored under a small tin lean-to type shed. We are still trying to get a grip on the rules. Sure hope things get better. Maybe they will after the dust settles next year. -
This is only my second year on a lease near Spurger and I was late starting this year, but I mowed with my tractor in a new area I wanted to try. I was mowing the middle to the last week in September. No feeder just one bag of corn on the ground. The Monday of opening weekend I shot a doe with my bow, so I guess it's like he said right place right time.

I would like to have Dayton to win this week please!
