  1. Hey! Don’t knock it. We’re educating AI. 🤣
  2. How interesting it would be if Abseck got the Lufkin job & wound up competing in 9-5A again…🤔🤨
  3. BHISD was successful & rated highly before he arrived, and will continue after he’s gone as long as the City Planners, Council, Mayor, Manager set criteria for new homes to start in the range they start now & above. That limits the people that can afford to live in the area & is a subtle—often forgotten/unknown—way of selectively keeping a community a certain economic/demographic level. Well known that parents of better means have children that perform better scholastically.
  4. I can see some of that. But, my understanding is the last two AD/HC’s didn’t leave of their own accord, and one (Westerberg) took another AD position with—presumably—decent pay fairly quickly thereafter. The other hasn’t had a chance yet. So, not sure that’s the full story. To me, there’s something else going on also. JMHO
  5. Turning back to the open AD/HC position—and asking BH fans—do y’all think the job is tougher since the Super is an ex State Champ player, then a district winning AD/HC himself? Could there be an undue amount of pressure on the position? Just seems a lot of turnover of really qualified coaches since this Super has been at BHISD. Question isn’t meant to be derogatory. Honest question.
  6. Must not have been a ‘yes’ if another call was made today. I take it this visit was from the unnamed undecided.

  8. [Hidden Content] Nice drone video in center screen. Expands to full screen.
  9. Historically, they've been pretty good about it. Even the teacher's tenure average is well over the State average. Last I checked, tenure was over 13 years. Pay isn't bad either. They're well above average on that as well.
  10. LOL. I don't think Berneathy would be caught near this job. Talk about a non-fit. LP typically keeps their coaches. Only rare instances like TJ Mills & Tarr have been let go. Renfro left to take over his home school of Clear Springs. All others have retired from LP. Pretty secure job.
  11. Also a chance that Crosby goes with NS group & BH & La Porte go with DP & Pasadena, Baytown schools. First, BH has some repair work to do. They’ve allowed one person to put a stain on their entire ISD & town for a long time.
  12. Interesting. Because I’ve read quite a bit of medical literature that actually recommends multiple sports for better muscle growth and injury prevention. When I was growing up, I played youth football. But, as I got older, my mom made me choose—more because we couldn’t afford to be involved in everything—and she did discourage football over other sports. So, I played baseball and was on the swim/dive team in high school & went with swimming in college before joining the military.
  13. I only mentioned the landscape/amenities difference because most HC/AD candidates are married, and their spouses play a major role similar to military families. A HC/AD is basically ‘on deployment’ for a large part of the year, and their spouse has to carry a big load. If a spouse is used to having certain amenities/stores/activities close by with easy access, it may make a move—which is already difficult—even harder. So, it’s something to consider. Mt. Belvieu is growing. But, it’s still kind of in the middle of not much comparatively. It does have some advantages being in Chambers County compared to Harris for sure. For the record, I thought Abseck had y’all on the right track. Sorry it wound up as it has…
  14. Worse than being jailed for failure to cooperate with law enforcement, or sending out highly derogatory tweets about other local school districts & towns? Because, apparently, those are okay...
  15. No. Cedar Park is similar to Lake Travis. A fairly high income community. Most of the suburbs west & north of Austin are above average income. Think Woodlands and Houston. Barbers Hill-income wise—is similar to Lake Travis & Cedar Park. But, the communities are very different after that. Activities, scenery, shopping, culture, restaurants. etc. are way more abundant in Austin suburbs. You can walk or bike to almost anything you want to do. If used to that, Mt. Belvieu isn’t even comparable. Demographics wise, all are close. Each suburb has areas that are higher end. Steiner Ranch for example (Vandegrift) is in the 1.5+ neighborhood as far as housing. In Westlake, that would be bottom rung.
  16. Always someone who thinks—despite all evidence to the contrary—things will be different for them. My brother lives in Steiner Ranch. Feeds into Vandegrift. Niece & nephew graduated from Vandegrift. Barbers Hill is nothing like that area. Barbers Hill is like Deer Park. The Vandegrift/Lake Travis area is on a different level from many aspects.
  17. If I were a parent of a player still, I wouldn’t want my son playing for a ‘yes man.’ I would prefer someone older who didn’t have to ‘play the game’, but could teach my son about life and still cared about winning—with character & pride. (If I had to choose between the two.) Of course, I’d also prefer a Super who hired & trusted to let the hire do their job without interference. Authority doesn’t give respect. Respect is earned when respect is given.
  18. Another thing about Stump—positive or negative—is I believe his ex QB son is already helping him send in/call plays. So, there could be a smooth succession plan if the BH Super didn’t get in the way again. If he does, it may be easier to get a new Super than a new pedigreed coach. Get a good 5 years from Pops, then transition to his son with some continuity. I think Pops is a couple years younger than me, and he still looks like he’s in great shape. Just a thought… In my old fart mind, it could make sense for all concerned. I did see some young men in our game that had some talent. Hope they don’t get discouraged with all of this stuff. (If they do, LP is open enrollment. 😜)
  19. I think he’s at the stage where he wouldn’t care if the Super wanted him to play his kid, he is also at the stage where politics wouldn’t mean too much to him, and it would stroke the BH Super’s ego to have a ‘big name hire’—which it just seems like he needs by his history. Stump would get a decent raise, not have to move, and would actually have a good looking young soph QB to work with in his system. The BH QB (left-handed soph I saw in PO’s) could be a game changer given the right coaching staff. Fired off bullets, and left-handed QB’s seem to be hard to deal with for whatever reason. BH may not have what is at Atascocita. But, their cupboard didn’t look bare.
  20. May sound crazy. But, Stump would be an interesting choice. It would be a pay raise, and he knows the area, people and competition. From BH perspective, if they do move to 6A, he has the experience there and in the district they may move into… Of course, I wouldn’t expect him to be a long term hire. Another 5 year guy.
  21. Pretty sure it was AJ Highsmith. Awesome QB. Pretty much was the miracle man at HT.
  22. Word gets around.
  23. My money is apparently on whoever will suck up & play the Super’s kid.
  24. Crosby may be willing to make a swap. 🤣
  25. Mike McCarthy might become available. He’s used to dealing with heavy handed bosses, and said 2 days ago to the press, ‘He’s a builder.’
