  1. LP is averaging 44 PPG and 21 PAPG (including the 28 to BH when backups came in and it was 45-0 in the 3rd) in the PO’s. LP’s averages are actually better in the PO’s than in the regular season & predistrict. Angleton is averaging 35 PPG and 30 PAPG in PO’s with all games coming down to the final whistle.
  2. I remember Matt saying it was all screwed up. BG brought it up and mentioned they had LP ranked 15 in state, but 5th in district in the print edition. The print edition looked like they listed district teams in alphabetical order, omitted Angleton, and never proofed. I get the feeling there’s a big push for viewership/digital offerings/game projections, and some of the investigative detail that used to make them special is slipping through the cracks. Not a slam. Maybe just trying to do too much too quick.
  3. 351 yards & 4 TD’s. Seriously doubt they’ll allow that again. Not sure they were prepared for him. Of course, they can do like Consol tried & key on him. Then, he only got 187. But, Barnes got about 150 & 4 TD’s.
  4. I’m sure they’re excited. Angleton’s 425 is great against most teams today. Not the best against LP. I see Angleton having to run blitz almost all game long to slow down LP. If they do, and they miss, uh-oh. I see neither team changing what they do at the core. But, I see a few new wrinkles from both. LP will probably use more quick outs, tosses, reverses to loosen up the middle. I see them lining up Barnes & Sandolph as receivers with Simon as a deep back where he can have time to find a hole. For Angleton, I see them going for almost every 4th down, and attempting more long balls. High risk. High reward. Of course, what do I know? In the end, whichever team runs the ball the best with the fewest mistakes wins.
  5. NRG would be full all day Saturday if y’all wind up with the early game. With y’all’s crowd, LP & Angleton bring good crowds, then Iowa Colony & Randle. Good day of football with different division schools represented. Not a big fan of NRG. But, I have to watch on NFHS anyway as that stadium/parking/restroom situation is very unfriendly for a person with very limited mobility and a large crowd.
  6. If you’re asking about more than just the schedule of the rematch—which as Aggie said is up top—I’ll add some more tidbits later on. Purple Reign can add more details about Angleton that he’s more familiar with than me. Really some interesting connections & past histories for both of these clubs. As a tidbit right now—as it relates to a form of your ‘disrespect’ comment—District 3 is generally accepted as the toughest 5A-1 district in the state. They have a Regional Final/State Quarterfinal rematch between their top 2 teams (Denton Ryan & Aledo). The only other 5A-D1 district with a Regional Final/State Quarterfinal between the top 2 teams in the district? 11-5A-1. La Porte and Angleton. Both 3-5A & 11-5A have eliminated competition from 2 other districts. La Porte and Angleton eliminated all four PO teams from 12-5A-D1 whom a lot of experts thought was the next toughest district in 5A-D1 behind 3-5A. The only other ‘Big School’ district that can top this? 23-6A, where all 4 PO teams will replay each other again, and is generally considered to be the toughest district in the state.
  7. Don’t know about a third. But, Iowa Colony/Richmond Randle are after LP/Angleton.
  8. After being stationed in NOLA back in the day, you always asked for your white meat to still have the fur on the feet. Just to double-check. Weren’t very many cats roaming the streets.
  9. Good call. Keep hearing how LP can’t come back as a running team when they get down by a couple scores. Keep saying this is a different team. To me, all the talk about needing a balanced O is hogwash, and less important than how well you execute whatever O you’re running. I seem to remember The Pony Express playing some good ball… (Not saying I don’t wish LP could have just a few more pass plays in the book though. Still think they’re underutilizing their big TE. I think he’s only had 1 TD this year.)
  10. Ran outta comments for the day. +1

  12. Way to go Indians! SETX even winning in La! 😂
  13. People underestimated 11-5A all year. It wasn’t a bad district.
  14. Gives me Deja Vu of 2011… Glad Angleton won. But, hard to beat a good team 2x in a month.
  15. !!:28/28/4/5/24 This game is a slug fest!
  16. Big stop by CS on 4th & 1. 8:00 left.
  17. Angleton is controlling the game in the 2nd half.
  18. CS player being put into cart. Doesn’t look good. Prayers up.
  19. Same to y’all…again! Some good football being played in SETX.
