I know this game and I know when a team looks bad...HJ looked BAD that night at Ford Park...Perhaps YOUR opinion could be taken with a grain of salt, due to obvious bias, but my opinion is rock solid based on what I saw that night...Silsbee was tougher, and looked 10 times better on THAT night. FACT.

I am always a basketball coach, however, I pride myself on being a scholar as well! ;D....Dove it has happened so much in Houston, its easy to spot in a place like Port Arthur! Remember a run down area called "The Heights"....Been there lately? Gentrification at it's finest...Once again...another topic for another day! ;)

[/quote] Good guess, but I can tell you thats NOT why the school is there.  They are wanting the West Side of Port Arthur to die, make the younger families move toward the mall area, re-build the West Side and downtown PA, so that the Lamar State area and Pleasure Island become more "attractive areas" again, if you know what I mean...But thats for another topic for another day.... ;)

I saw HJ play and was honestly pretty disappointed in HOW they played. Taking long threes, out of sync, poor execution, horribly defensively....They were only in the Silsbee game at the end playing out of desperation. Perhaps they have turned it up a notch or 5, because they played awful when I saw them last.  Bosha and Johnson need to turn it up... 8)

Soulja, you missed the point...Central is talented, but not THAT talented to win without being WELL coached through the playoffs...in 1999, David Green did a great job of guiding them through the region and they were blessed at the end and a little luck pushed them over the hump....in 2007, Boutte did a MASTERFUL job with that team...They were not the most talented in the region BY FAR that season, but made it to the state championship game.  Central is young and talented...But really not THAT good...yet. ;)

Central WILL NOT go to Austin...End of THAT discussion..When the playoffs begin, there is strategy and coaching involved. Talent is not enough, especially very young talent.

Thats two THIS year...Now, I am not sure if they can play a lick, or if they are JV kids, or whatever, but I know he has said, they keep losing kids to Nederland, and it needs to be stopped. Honestly, its not all abou the ones that Nederland HAS received, but its really about the ones that Memorial LOST. J'Covan was in Beaumont for two years, came back and was made to sit out half of his senior year...Memorial LOST that one. So when it comes down to it, if a DIFFERENT kid(s) is on that border, he will be more likely to go to the hotter program for basketball...Its been happening. But as I said..Once ORDER is restored in Port Arthur...... ;)

It was a program that was a cut above....Nederland is going through an upswing over the last few years, but it has been a REASON for it...Coach English is the area's best coach in 4A/5A being oneof them...But he has done about all he can do there..You will see what I am talking about soon enough..
