2.
I hope they both make the team. Wouldn't that be awesome!
Truly awesome. Do they have a national ranking anywhere?  If they are in top 100 rankings nationally, they get past the preliminary and on to round 1.
 3. But think of the possible shake up in district if HJ loses. Will make that district more interesting to follow.
 4.
Oh yeah?  Soulja, you are nothing but a "dunk-o-meter" freak. ;D
HUH? No more name calling and look what you did Nash. You're getting entitled!
 5. Yep, Hawks need no pep talk this week. They need to prove they deserve #1 in that district.
 6. All their players moved to Dawson & Clear Lake area. Cycles.
I think this is a very critical game for HJ. Think of the district shakeup for that 3rd spot if HJ loses.  HJ could be in a fight for 3rd. HJ, don't lose tonite.
Hmmm- I was thinking it might be a fairly critical game for WOS.
We already have assumed WO-S will be playing for 3rd, not HJ ;)

 9.
It's a mistake to underestimate any district opponent on their home court.  I expect HJ to win this by more than two points but what do I know?  I thought they would win last Friday at Silsbee without nearly as much difficulty as they had.  I also felt (years ago) that Joe Dumars(after watching him several years when they came to Lamar) would not make it to the NBA so obviously, my opinion does not count for much.  The only advantage I have is I realize that.
Thats the first step to self discovery and recovery. Knowing thyself. You , my good man are a good path.
 10.
See Kentucky, Ohio State, Baylor, Kansas, North Carolina, and Indiana as all teams that have a talented post who can score. Also the Mosely (sp) from Northwestern St. Is pretty good from what I remember but scoring post are few and far between.
Exactly! And the young posts coming up are maturing later in age. Most of the young post I see don't jump for a rebound :(
 11.

I think that is why he didn't do great at Tech. This would have been his first quality recruiting class. I too can't wait to see how successful he is with out Miles, James, Lamb, Davis, Harper and company starting next year. We have to find scoring.
We desperately need someone that can score in the post.  Do they even make those type of players anymore?
Yes! You need to watch K-State, Kentucky, etc.
Nash, stop making up stuff on HJ. That only started this season.
Nope- The schedule was virtually identical last season and the season before.  The difference is that nobody had much concern about how good HJ might be. My honest opinion is that those who resent HJ getting so much recognition this year tried to discredit what they have done by saying the schedule is weak, they got lucky  etc etc etc.
I had never paid any attention to HJ being so lucky after all this time ;)
 13. Speaking of shooting, I can only name or remember players from lower level programs who have led the nation in scoring: Austin Peay (sp?), Texas COLLEGE, Marshall ( or maybe the ex LU kid led in 3 pt. shots), Texas Southern, etc. Surely there have been a few who led the nation in scoring from major D1 schools.
 14.

I've known players who could shoot in practice but put them in a game and they can't buy a bucket. So it must be more than just the form. Certainly Jamal Wilkes ranks up high with ugly shots.  World B. Free could shoot. Got to Rockets and couldn't hit a barn.
My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think World B ( the change from Lloyd to World b is like going from Ron to Metta World Peace)also shot from behind his head.  I was always impressed by the silky smooth moves/shots of Manute Bol.
Yep

 16. BS and DV are correct. May I also add you have to now be between the top 100-150 rankings  or doubt if you get serious consideration by the committee.  Its a long hype process that starts to get serious around the 9th grade and some sooner.
 17.
I would say that one of them is already there.
And only one.
 18. When the day comes when PN-G and Nederland reach the basketball status like HJ on this forum is the day I quit posting 8)

 20.
I know of a kid who used to play at Tatum and went on to play at a LeTourneau college in Longview who had the ugliest three point shot I had ever seen.  He holds the three point record in Tatum.  Shot it from behind his head.  Very effective.
2-A Tatum? He had to shoot from behind his head. Their bigs are 6'0".

Do I see a potential rivalry starting between Nederland and Ozen? Interesting if this happens. Nederland wanting some respect may be the driving force.
Y'all already have Central as a rival, and Ned has PNG. The Ned/PNG rivalry will never go away.
I thought this was the Basketball threads.  ;D
Nederland and PNG are rivals in EVERY sport. The gym two weeks ago in PN was at full capacity.
And the basketball forum is filled with Nederland-PN-G game tidbits. ::)
Not even close! Ask non-PNG fans, they'll tell you Doty is a legit FCS QB and could play FBS. The Doty-Long comparisons are valid. Doty has a stronger arm than Long did, but Long was more athletic on the field. Doty was a precision pocket passer, Long could run. Long tore up FCS his only year at SHSU and I believe Doty would as well.
According to the quote from Woodard the new QB from Northwest Mississippi JUCO is the best QB on campus.
Never seen him play and I posted that before the announcement about the JUCO kid, but "Torn Labrum" just doesn't sound good? :-\
I like Doty, I really do and I'm glad he is walking on the basketball team. However, this discussion goes back to last year and I'm not that forgetful yet. Doty had zero FBS, FCS or DII scholarship offers. If he did please name the school. Yes he was offerred a preferred walk-on at Oregon and took a chance there. However, the talk of comparison's between him and Dustin Long are laugable. Dustin Long signed with Texas A&M and still owns the record for most TD passes in a single game. He started several games but he had a jack___ as a Head Coach in Franchione who went with Reggie McNeil. Great move on the Head Coach's part and lead to his firing for choosing the wrong QB. So Long transferred to SHSU for basically a semester and played for them leading the team to the FCS semifinals his only season in Huntsville. He transferred back to Texas A&M and graduated. Now as for as Ryan Mossakowski here is an article about torn labrum in his right shoulder and his reasons to transfer from Kentucky. [Hidden Content]
Good info. Waiting for responses to this one.

Kelly is competing against schools who are [s]recruiting [/s]..errrr enrolling athletes who compete at a higher level. Kelly does not have that option
