I don't ever remember having a senior game, but maybe we did and memory is slipping. But I do remember letting a player in for his last game integrated with the starters. But I was raised to play your best players and players *earned*  playing time. I just don't see it anymore.
So TRUE -- BLUE!  ;D  I remember having to have a good lead and then maybe a senior or two would get in if they were bench players or waiting until fourth quarter AND having the lead then the seniors would close out the game (and they had to keep the lead of course).
I knew I wasn't dreaming- So kids at one time actually had to earn their playing time ;D

 3.
I'm still here Dove.  I'm glad to see HF creating some ripples in the pool of district basketball.  But I don't want to see ripples, i want to see a huge cannonball type splash.  I like underdogs just as much as the next person.  I think it would be a huge step in HF basketball to get that 3rd place spot.  Earn that spot and win a playoff game!!
C'mom 86' you gotta take baby steps first. Its a process. This is a good season for HF AND ONE ANYONE CAN BE PROUD OF.....even you  ;D
 4. The one thing I've noticed about HJ, Silsbee, and Nederland is this: A. Their not the most athletic teams B.  Their players very seldom make it to the next level in major D-1 programs C.  Their programs win consistently D. Have youth programs in place ( not really sure what *major* factor plays into this) E. Players have bought into the system (major factor) F.  Players understand their roles on the team. Some are better rebounders, defense, etc(major factor)
In the famous words from Aggie, "look at the darn schedule we posted for yall."
Dove- tell me who I should choose in this one ( and by the way, wouldnt it have been easier to say "Orange" or "Hamshire" in lieu of the scolding?)
No more easier than for you to have looked at the schedules before posting asking where they were playing. ;) ::)
Ok you win.  From this point forward, if you pose a question, I will gladly respond with a point of reference rather than an answer.
Do what you want. I just like to show the appreciation and respect to our staff member WOSgrad for all the work he has done for this site by having that info provided right here on our site so that folks would not have to ask and be well informed. It's kind of like my teenage son walking into the kitchen asking my wife if we have any milk when he is standing 1 foot from the refrigerator. ;)
Some people like assurances that they are loved and cared for by having other people answer and respond to their needs, no matter how trivial the question or situation may be

 8. Just got through browsing the code. Seems like you should come to an attention for private citizens and the Pledge is hand over heart.
 9. Sorry, but he needs to go now. He status hit big time after last night. Gotta go with the gauges. He's too hot to not go. Plus the recruiting class for 2013 is coming in and my boy Rasheed will give him some comp for playing time ;)
No Stevie, it says 2013. After we had several transfers in 2010 I changed the date to 2013 :P
That is all well and good Dove, but you have repeatedly denied that you ever predicted a State Championship and tried to convince the rest of us that you simply predicted they would be in the mix for the playoffs.  The very words above, "I changed the date to 2013" refers to the state title.  PoppaBear and I want you to come to Sour Lake and take a lie detector test.
Nah, 2012 would be playoffs. No way I'm predicting  Austin, Texas in 2012 ;D
Good Lord, the "Nit-Picking Police" are on Patrol!  ::)
You simply don't understand- This is a Dove-Nash thing.  Dont be surprised to see us arguing about whether a glass is half empty or half full.
See there! he said it, I didn't.  And proof Nash is a little off. Everybody knows that if the glass isn't half empty then it must be half full. ::)
 11.
My two cents:  Coaches should teach players not to talk back to the refs, or to the opposing fans.  Nothing good comes from it.  Coach or team captain should be the only ones addressing the refs. A little back and forth between the players is almost unpreventable.  Though if I see my sons doing it, they will hear from me.  Never be the one to start something, but don't allow yourself to be intimidated either.  Sometimes you have to protect yourself and your team-mates, and you can do that without being dirty.  Physical is another story.  Taunting another player should result in a technical if the ref sees it.  At the HS level, the teams should shake hands after the game.  Though I am not personally a big fan of the players fist bumping the refs and/or opposing coach before the game as has become normal during the pregame introductions.  It's fine, but I find it unnecessary. Play as hard as you can between the lines, but act in a way that would make your momma proud.
There is a thin line between teaching the right way and not being intimidated or backing down during a game. But I am in agreement with you.
