I guess that means your kids did not attend Yates?
Very obvious ;D
Dang! You're trying to take this to another level. But anyway ::) If I'm the coach, I'm putting in my bench and I'm going to tell those guys to play hard as they can. No let down and we would continue to work on our press, fast breaks and sets.
Im sorry, I must have been brought up different than some others, but Houston Yates dont scare me or intimidate me at all.  I played against the best Houston had to offer for 5 straight summers and Im from right here in little old East Texas.  Yates is in for more of an awakening than HJ or Silsbee.  This reminds me of when I was growing up, and we would hear of a player from New York or Los Angelos, people would think and even college coaches recruit them on this basis, but when it gets right down to it, they are no different than me and you.  A friend of mine that played for the Detroit Pistons, told me I would see this and he was absolutly correct.
But you didn't have FaceBook or XBox back then. You got home from school, milked the cows and then went off to play. ;)
I hear ya rc. I don't think anyone is predicting (or expects) this team to win it all this year. We are just enjoying the ride, and it's exciting to see how far they can go. Next year, however, expectations will be a bit higher, and I will be singing a different tune.
I agree enjoy the ride. But some of us enjoy making it bumpy sometimes.  ;)
Dove- I am a little confused by this.  In this thread where a whopping margin is involved, your answer is simply for the loser to get better.  But when HJ beat Orangefield the other night by a margin no where near this, your comment was " running up the score again".  Do I sense a degree of inconsistency here?
Nope! Just a reminder that HJ ran the score up on some defenseless little team. Why didn't you guys didn't have to score over 30 points to win.
What is an acceptable margin of victory?  I notice that you never are concerned about the margins that Yates wins by.
;)
I'm pretty sure not many people gave the 'Hoosiers' team in IN much of a chance either, but there is proof that it does happen at the HS level as well. Movie based on a 1954 IN HS team who won the state championship against all odds.
2012-1954= 58 years. Yep, its long overdue for a Hoosier miracle to happen for Nederland  ::)
 10. And there is a high school football team in Ark. that always goes for 4th down and never punts  Thats high school and would never compare nor probably work in pro football. In other words, Nederland doesn't have "The Dream."
The word is out that HJ getting too big for their own good :D
Dove- Thought you might like to know that I will be hosting two "exchange students" for the next couple of years- for academic purposes, of course.
I knew HJ would eventually sell their souls to the devil ;)
He just transferred from Westbury Christian to Ridge Point. Probably will be on Houston Hoops 17 [s]Pro.[/s]... errrr Nike summer team.

 15.
Agree Nash.  The SMRJ is the most under practiced, lowest percentage shot in todays game.  If you ask most coaches, this is the shot they want to give to the offense if they have to give one at all.
Agree, didn't see your post earlier.
 16.

Ok  Fewer three pointers-  But with all the alleged extra  driving, do you think you might have an important player foul out or foul out sooner (not all drives are going to create defensive fouls)  Fouls are a very important issue for the Tigers and my guess is that, late in the game, they might not be able to afford to be that aggressive offensively
Thats where the SWEET MID RANGE JUMPERS come into play, baby!! ;D ;D
AMEN! A rare accomplishment in the hs ranks these days.

He wouldve been a great asset to the team. But best of wished to him at H-J
Water under the bridge now. He's doing great for H-J, and we're (Central)are doing fine as well.  We would have been fine with or without that kid.  :) :)
Obviously some people don't really know the talent level at Central. Again, you have frosh putting pressure on the upperclassmen.
 18.
Hardin Jefferson and maybe and I do maybe Nederland. Silsbee with an outside chance depending on match ups.
BADSANTA, just when I think you're taking meds as directed, you come along and make a statement about the possibility of Nederland going to State 8)

Right now, its anybody guess. Silsbe and HJ are the ONLY consistent teams in the district. We know they will represent the #1 and #2 spots in district. 3rd is up for grabs.
Aren't they going to be #2 and #1 spots in district?
Thats given ::)

 21. And wasting more tax dollars but as I predicted before season district games, the 3rd place race is really the top story in this district.
Come on, Dove.  Give us your prediction for who takes third?  Will it be the once predicted 2012 state champs?
As much as some of yall have tried to *Calvin Walker* me into being guilty of making such a statement, your case  is about as weak as .............  !
 23. Wow! I happen to know several of those kids. Not thugs at all. Good kids. They will dog a team out and thats just the way they play.
